Start off good then get too tight...help
Jkck660 replied to cantweight2go's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am so glad that I found this post. I too have had the same problems. I got so tight out of no where that I started to throw up everything. I could eat something one day and still be throwing it up the next because the food would never go down. At one point I was so miserable that I couldnt get Water down. So I had an complete unfill. A week later I had severe pain under my right ribs. Found out I had gall stones. so I had my gallbladder taken out. Right now I am sitting out for a couple of weeks with very very little fill in the band(my dr. doesnt tell you how much Fluid he puts in or takes out of the band) to let my stomach settle. i cant even tell that I have a band at this point. I know this is necessary, however, I am scared to death of gaining weight back. Anyway, I get to have a fill the week after thanksgiving. I am ready to hit it hard again and loose the rest of this weight!! However, apparantly I am really sensitive to fills and we have to go really slowly. Does anyone know why it can take up to two weeks for a fill to kick in???? Also, my ticker is not right I have actually lost 55 pounds! -
Can i have lipo and LB surgery done at the same time?????
Jkck660 replied to Ladeda56's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hello, I have to say I did have a tummy tuck before getting the lap band. I guess I thought getting the tummy tuck would make my self esteem better or give me incentive to loose the rest of my weight. The Dr. did tell me that I needed to loose weight before having the tummy tuck, and I told him I just wanted it done. I had researched the lap band, however, at that time I still thought I could loose this weight myself. I can not do it alone, that is why I chose to get the lap band. I understand how you feel about your stomach. I have had two children and I had a ton of hanging skin and fat that YOU COULD SEE THROUGH MY CLOTHES. I do not regret getting the tummy tuck, however, I think you should loose weight first. I can say that because I did have cosmetic surgery before loosing weight. I am not critizing you because we all are different. However, please consider all of your choices and really research the lap band. Your decision depends on how big you are. The lap band is not for people that is just slightly overweight. And liposuction is for people who are of relativley normal weight that just have Patches of stubborn fat that wont go away with diet or excercise. Believe me, I have done the research. I made a decision to get the lap band because I realize that I have a problem with food and I have to Change the way I eat and live my life, that I cant use cosmetic surgery for a band aide of the real problem. Look inside yourself and do the research, you will make the right decision. -
Hi, I was a self pay. My BMI was not high enough for the insurance company to cover the surgery. My surgery cost was 14,500. I put some on a credit card and the rest on a line of credit. I dont regret it. I was banded on 3-3-08. Nothing scary at all. Very good experience. I was back at work the next day. (I own My own company, so i left after a couple of hours). Recovery was awesome. I had a tummy tuck 8 months ago (I know putting the cart before the horse) and the recovery was nothing compared to that!! Good Luck on your journey. you won't regret it:thumbup:

Hello All, I was banded March 3rd as well. I have my full appettite back now and I have little to no restriction. I have lost 13 pounds however, my weight loss has definalty halted now that I am eatting solids. I am trying to restrcit what I eat, the problem is I am really hungry now I am afraid I will gain some weight back. I get my first fill on April 15th and I cant wait. My DR. does not put saline in the band during surgery, so I have no restriction right now. I am hoping that my first fill will help. I have to be in a wedding in Sept. and I really want to loose a good bit of weight before then!! Good luck everyone!!

Hello kathy, I think that I just jarred my insides a little while we were on our trip. I guess since I was still healing, all of the bouncing around in the RV made it hurt really bad. The pain went away after about a week and I havent had any since, thank goodness!! I appreciate you checking in. Everything going okay with you? Jennifer

hey Guys, I feel like my weight loss might be slowing too. On Monday I was cleared to go back to a regular food diet, thank goodness!! I have lost 13 pounds, which I am really happy about. I dont go for my first fill until april 15th. I can not wait until then. Because I feel as if I can eat a lot. I still dont feel as if I can eat as much as I used to, however, I cant wait to get a fill so that I will not be able to eat as much. I did start excersising on Monday night, I am so sore!! I did a video "slim in 6". It is squats and lunges, ugh, I hate those, however, those are the areas that I need to work on the most!! I am going to do eliptical today. I hope everyone is doing well... Lets all hand in there!!

Hello everyone, glad to hear everyone is doing well. I am good, although I still have this pain that comes and goes under my left rib cage. I am on soft foods now. I am so suprised how different Dr.s are giving different advice. Some of you are walking a ton and playing tennis!!! My Dr. says only to walk a maximum of 20 min a day. Next week I will be cleared to do any type of excercise that I want. Wahoo I am ready to get the rest of this weight off!! I have to be in a wedding in Sept, so I am going to work my bootie off!! I am eating on three meals a day and now I am not drinking with meals, which is a little tough. I am going to start keeping a food journal because now that I am moving onto soft foods I am scared I might start eating too many calories. Anyone else keeping a food journal?? Good Luck:thumbup:

I am so sorry to hear about your terrible ordeal, trying. I hope that you are on your way to a healthy recovery. I have the same pain right under my left rib cage. I am 2 weeks post op. My pain didnt start until three days ago. I was traveling with my family in our Rv, I was laying down in the bed with my boys. The Road was really bumpy. All of the sudden I felt pain in my left side under my rib cage. It was aweful, like a knife stabbing me. We pulled over and slept for the rest of the night. It still hurt in the moring, just not as bad. I did call my Dr. office and she said it didnt sound band related. Maybe I just jarred my insides, which are still sore from surgery. I am not sure I believe that. The next day it did still hurt just not as bad. However, now it hurts sporatically. Mostly right after I eat. I had a thick protien shake a little bit ago and now it is hurting terribly. I dont know what the pain is, however, I wonder if the band could be poking on the liver???? I have spent a lot of time looking at the digestive system and pictures if our insides to figure out if the pain could be coming from the band. I dont know what it is, however, it is really painful. I am glad that I found this thread and know that it is not just me.

Thanks so much for your reply. I hope that is all that it is. I am just afraid that I torn the stitches around my band. I will be glad when the Dr. calls me back. Thanks a bunch!!

Hello everyone, I am traveling with my family in our RV. I was laying down with my boys in the bed and I think the rocky road has done something inside me!! Under my left rib cage I have sharp shooting pains. We stopped to sleep last night after it happened. When I woke up this moring, the pain wasnt as bad, however it is still there. I am soo afraid that I have ripped stitches inside. I didnt even think about it when I laid down in the bed. I think the roads must have been really rocky and it jarred me. I have put a call in to my Dr. I left a message, they said the try to return each call by the next business day, Anyone experienced this??? I am able to keep my liquid down with no nausea, just sharp pains. Thanks:sad:

Struggling with liquid phase
Jkck660 replied to jbhband's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
:cursing:Wow, only Water for 5 days!! That is tough. I know what you are going through. I am in my second week of liquids. I am able to have protien shakes and yogurt this week. Hang in there. I am scared. Today I was making my son a cake, (I know, why did I do that?) I ate some of the batter. I know that it is liquid, It is just not the kind of liquid I am supposed to be on. I am scared, I hope that I didnt do any damage to the band. I dont know what came over me, I just took a bite then I couldnt stop, I had a couple more bites. Oh, I am soo mad at my self. So hand in there. If you feel like you cant go any longer, maybe you should call your Dr. and ask if you can have some mushies. Good luck, -
