  1. THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!! That was very helpful!!!!!
  2. I cut back before the surgery and it was not bad at all. I would drink about a 6 pack a day of diet coke so it was most of what I consumed when drinking. You can do it!!!! I have even started drinking decaf. tea and it is not bad. You will make it through it....good luck tomm. Keep us posted!!!!
  3. Is it normal to be less then a week out and be able to drink all day and not "fill" up. I am drinking water only unless it is a protein shake. It takes me about 30 mins to drink a 8 oz protein shake. I am starting to feel like I can drink more then most that got banded around the same time. I guess I am just paranoid that I have done something wrong. Thanks for any help!!!!

    coughing post op

I had a cold going into surgery and had a cough. I asked the doc and he said it would be fine unless it became a very hard cough which I didn't let it. He said it would hurt me more the it would ever hurt the band. You should be ok but if you are concerned you might want to call your doc and let him/her know.
  7. Why does your doc. not have you on any protein? What are you drinking? Just wondering beceause my doc is pushing protein and I had my surgery on the 12th. I have to drink 3 Protein drinks a day if I don't get anything else in. I wish you well!! I would think you will get some energy back after you start full liquids with includes protein. Keep us posted!!!!

    surgery may 21st

One of the main reason for having the surgery is because of infertilty. I have PCOS and have been unable to have children. Having PCOS is part of the reason for the weight gain but I also have made some very bad choices. The pain was not unbearable but it was there. When I came out of surgery I was in a lot of pain but was given meds and felt a lot better. I guess it is different with everybody but the pain is not unbearable. Not eat really hasn't been a issue. I really haven't wanted to eat but I know that will soon change. It doesn't bother me to see my husband eat but I know soon that will change too. I hope this helps some....I am also doing a VLOG on youtube. Here is my username so you can link to my videos: hholly112002 you can watch some of the things I found important and I do have one update since the surgery and I will be posting another one today. Good luck all!!!!!

    surgery may 21st

Hey all I was just banded on the 12th. I stayed in the hosp. overnight and was home the next evening. As far as watching what you eat....I did enjoy somethings I knew I might not ever be able to have again. I have heard in the support group here that a lot people not all but a lot have problems with pasta and I LOVE pasta so I did take a trip to Olive Garden. But I think as long as you senseable about what you putting in your mouth then you will be ok. Don't go overboard but don't drive yourself crazy!!!! Good luck to all of you and keep us updated on your progress!!!!!

    Hello from Kristy :)

Welcome Kristy! I was just banded on May 12th and I am getting used to this new life. It is different and has been hard at times but I would not change it so far. I wish you much luck and lots of weightloss!

    Fat Clothes

I agree with Debbs. I have worn that swimwear for a couple of years now. I am hoping next year I won't need it but it is VERY cute and stylish. I am only 29 and shop a lot with QVC because of the sizes they carry. Good luck in your hunt for clothes with a little searching I am sure you can find somethings you like.

    told my family today

Congrats on the support. I am only a couple days out but if I didn't have the support of my family and friends this process would have been a lot worse. Good luck on your journey!!!
  13. Something like that happened to me and it turned out that the girl who was doing the EKG had placed some of the "stickies" in the wrong place. I was called in to do another one and that one turned out ok. I am sure everything is fine. Please keep us posted but I am sure everything will be fine. Good luck on your surgery!!!
  14. Thanks for the message. It is nice to know people around here that are going through the same thing I am. Dr. Blaney is a wonderful doctor and I feel good knowing he did my surgery. How are you doing? I still feel weak but I know it is a slow process. Keep in touch with me.

    Off Topic-But Excited!

Congrats!!! Please post pics of your wonderful day!!!!!!
  16. I was banded on the 12th and I am feeling better today just weak. I think your feeling is normal. Sometimes I think I am hungry but when I fix something I can only drink 2 or 3 sips and I feel full. I think we just need to listen to our bodies and it will tell us what we need. My biggest problem is I am so weak, lightheaded and dizzy. I know this doesn't answer your question but I just wanted you to know that you are not alone. I hope your recovery goes well and I am sure you will figure things out!!!
  17. I was banded on Monday. When I went in to be banded I was fighting a cold but was not running a fever so we went ahead with the surgery. I am home now and recovering feeling pretty good but my question is that I am coughing....can this cause hurt the band...make it slip or the port flip anything...do I think this band is just too fragile...I am just trying to do things right and this is kind of freaking me out.......thanks for your help.
  18. I called him and he told me to wait until Monday and if it is not gone he will call something in. It is not a deep chest cough but it hurt so bad to cough....I think it is a little better....thank you all for answering!!!!
  19. I am so excited for you. You will be great tomm. I will be praying for you!!!!

    No Pre-OP Diet

My doctor did not require a pre-op diet. My surgery went well. As far as doing more I would just say try to cut out the things you will not be able to have anymore. I was a HUGE diet coke person and I stopped drinking it before surgery. I can't say that I wouldn't love to have one right now but I know I am doing the right thing. Good luck with your surgery.....keep us posted!!!
  21. Well I am a bandster now. I had surgery yesterday and I so happy to be home. The gas pains are not as bad as I expected but I am very sore. I hope things start getting better tomorrow. I am sipping on broth right now and hopefully can move to some better tasting things tomorrow. Thank you to all of you that have answered my questions along the way. To all the others that were banded yesterday....congrats....I know May 12th will be GREAT!!!!!

    Surgery May 12th

Thanks everyone for the kind words...Things are starting to get better. I am very sore around my prot site and walking is a little slow but I know it will get better. Good luck to everyone still waiting you will be here soon!!!!!
  23. My surgery went fine. I was banded on May 12th. I got the hosp. at 6am. By 7:30 I was in the operating room and by 10:30 I was in my room. I was in pain after surgery but nothing to unbearable. They let me have ice chips later on that day which I didn't care because I was not hungry. I had to get up to use the bathroom and try to walk out some of the gas. It was hard the first time but it is getting better each time I get up. I am home now and my port site is sore but that is it. I think the hardest thing since I got home was trying to find a good position in the bed as I don't have a recliner. I know you will do great....good luck to you and please keep us posted.

    waking up

I just had my surgery on Monday and I did wake up in pain but it was not unbearable. They will give you pain meds and they help. I think I might be in more pain waking up this morning then right after surgery. I know that I need to go and take a walk because the gas is building up. Good luck to you on your surgery.
