What food have you sworn off for good??

Funny how the first post on this talked about the starkist tuna packets. I'm in week four and can easily get the three ounces of tuna, mayo, and relish down...although I usually only eat three to four of the six crackers...and am full for quite awhile. I was a tad hesitant to eat soild foods after two plus weeks of nothing but sugar free popsicles and lipton cup-o-soups, but after meeting with my nutritionist and seeing that I've dropped 33 pounds in the month post surgery (47 all together with the pre op atkins diet) that I needed to take in a few more calories. Although, within the last few days I've eaten one and a half reeses peanut butter cups and two small 79 cent cans of pringles which I know aren't good for me in the slightest...but I was craving something salty and sweet. Not justifying my eating, but I figure if that's all I cheat I'll be okay. (Seeing how before being banded I'd easily eat two ultimo burritos, a cabanna bowl with chicken and extra sour cream, and a huge diet coke from Taco Cabanna. Mind you, that was just a late night "snack".):phanvan
  2. I'm sorry to hear about your restraunt ordeal. (Also, sorry myself I haven't ever eaten at Craker Barrell....but eh, I've eaten my fair share of thrice fried country vittles.) I've only been banded since Friday and I can't count the number of times I've wanted to rip my band out and devoure a fried chicken sandwhich. This whole bad up and down relationship I've had with food, either being a nazi about sugar, calories, carbs, and fats, or throwing any caution to the wind and plowing through six double cheese burgers in one sitting...It's finally hitting me that it is something i'm going to have to deal with not later, but now. It's comforting to see i'm not the only person with food related issues. So keep your head up! Things will get better eventually, and i'm sure you'll still be able to eat the majority of great food you had prior to your surgery....albeit, in much smaller portions. Take Care.
  3. Hey everyone. I had a quick question. I've been researching the lap band procedure for over a year now and think it would really help me with my constant fight against weight, my sleep apnea, my being a diabetic, etc. That being said, my folks are helping me out with the surgery bill seeing how our insurance said no off the bat and I'm rather kean on getting the surgery asap, due to my mounting health problems. (I'm six foot four and 315, have been as high as 360.) My parents are leaning towards me getting the non-adjustable procedure done with a Dr. Orias in Houston,TX. (I live in San Antonio.) From what I understand, with the non-adjustable band you are only allowed to drink four ounces of water/liquids at a time, or else you run the risk of stretching your pouch, your lower stomach touching your overstretched top "stomach", forming together, and evetually passing out the band. Is the same thing true with the adjustable lap band? As far as the water intake is concerned? I am aware that you have more restriction with liquids when your fill is just so or tighter than before....but can you only have four ounces of water at a time? I fully intend to be dillgent with working out after my surgery to help speed along the weight loss, but ....4 ounces of water after a 45 to an hour workout seems odd...due to the huge chance of becoming dehydrated. Any responses or comments would be appreciated. Thanks. - Marc
