  1. It is vertually impossible to gain weight on less calories than needed to sustain weight, perhaps a colonic enema? Otherwise, your body is retaining large amounts of water? It might be sleep eating, it happens. Seriously, it defies medical explanation, switch protein powder or premade drinks, maybe they are missed labeled. Stalls happen, the body defends itself, but gaining requires calaries, and more than your weight requires to sustain a weight. Maybe a family member doesn't want you losing and is secretly switching your food to stuff to gain weight. Think outside your body on this one, because if it isn't like gout or constpation, science says you can't gain weight. I would thing a jealous family member is screwing up your diet, sleep eating, or mislabeled food. Best of luck, I truly hope you figure this out. Maybe a new scale?
  2. 6yrs out, 2 months later, not only could I fly, but much more comfortably! You will be healthier and more active than presurgery I promise. I was walking 5 miles a day one month out. Stop worrying and just don't buy clothes early, you might be surprised what doesn't fit, that should be your biggest worry. I flew 4 times Cross Continental by the time I was two and a half months out. You got this!

What the h*ll is going on?!?!

Please take no offense, My doctor made me take Prozac for a year because of the mood swings and the way people treat you and the other things that will happen with the drastic weight loss. Perhaps you might think about seeing a psychiatrist. It sounds like a lot of this might be psychological that you can keep sprite down which should bother your stomach but not water. Maybe you're psyching yourself out. That you can keep cereal down but not chicken. I suggest you do at your doctor says and keep trying. You might try Pedialyte, or a mood prescription might be needed, The lack of sleep also is going to affect your body which could be the 3o sec delay because you're going into sleep deprivation. Try to relax and trust your doctor, try watering down your DIET sprite, it might help. Physically I can't imagine any physical cause that would allow you to keep down water, but keep down sprite, no problem with cereal, but can't do chicken. Best of luck

    Over 50 sleevers

6 yrs out. Highest weight 412lbs, 11 months later told to stop losing at 237lbs. I hover within 10lbs of there 6 yrs later. Men lose faster and more, but I had a steady lose of 20 to 25lbs a month. I had surgery at 51
  5. Cherries have no protein, chicken was mine. I am 6 yrs out and still live by a rule, 10grams protein for 100 calories or no. I ask myself if I am eating for fun, or to live. Food is not a major enjoyment anymore. I don't even bring junk food like chips into my home. Try to eat fresh veggies and fruit, but only after I have my protein and water in, and then in moderation. I don't find food rewarding myself, I find it losing where I have won

Less then 30 lbs to go...

You can go back to stage one, and try marching in place during commercials. It is amazing what a one week stage 1 reset does for your body, also have the same eating and drinking, and sleeping schedule it can break a pose, good luck. 6 yrs out I hover with in 10lbs of weight I was told to stop losing at. If I catch myself 10lbs over, I do this and wham I can lose it in a week. Everybody is different, but it works
  7. I was retired, early retired due to medical disability, and choice. I took it easy for 1 week or 2, treated myself like an egg, but I was good togo very soon. I was on protein shakes, get the nectar brand, it has fruit flavor and mixes great with sugar free Walmart brand or Crystal light, and much cheaper than premixed. I made a huge picture, 8 scoops and filled 4 Gatorade 32 oz bottles, 400 calaries, 60 grams of protein, and 64 oz of water in 2 bottles. Just a little of. Each and good for day. I lost 38lbs the month before surgery, and averaged 20 to 25lbs a month. So my. Life really hadn't changed after surgery except I don't crave foods at all
  8. Hell No! I have zero cravings for any food, which has to do with 95% of hormone telling your brain to eat is removed with bottom of stomach, there is no dumping, pouch will not stretch, but your esophagus will lose the feeling for having food in it if you overeat. And if you overeat too much you will have to throw up. But you won't get the sitting on the toilet. Alcohol won't make you drunk on 1 drink, and absorption is so much better. No way, sleeve was only choice I would ever make

In fact, when I came through, I asked doctor if my liver was to fatty, and he laughed and told me I was all done. I got up and took a walk around the hospital floor with him. I had gastric sleeve. I had zero complications. I hope the best for you all. My secret for keeping it off, I hover from 235 to 245lbs... I ask myself am I eating to live or for fun. It helps me

    The Maintenance Thread

Ok will be 4 yrs july 11, I went from 405 to 229 in 12 months. Doc said I could stop at 245, but i hit lower as 220 was my goal. I have maintained 230 to 240 since. I drink with food, it doesnt bother me, and fact started doing it at 8 months. I noticed 1) it seemed to push food, some, through pouch faster. I also noticed I can eat more than I could after 2 yrs and doc said you lose feeling that is is backing up in esophagus. Which is true, and if you throw up you can easily choke, so dont. But 3 slices of a large thin crust pizza is my limit, so that is my experience with that. Nuts, raw veggies sit in pouch for a long time, and only think I cant eat is cabbage, it gives me terrible heart burn. Water is hard as I forget to eat or drink until 7pm a lot. I never desire too, but have a bad habit from before of snacking while watching tv, and i have chips and drink water with, all chips and bread seems to stsy in pouch a long time. I mainly eat protein and a carb, i take barilife multivitamins 6 a day and blood work is slways perfect. 2 insulin 6 shots a day stopped at surgery and still diabetes is at bay. Hair lose happened, but as a guy, not that bad and similar to 2 brothers. Skin was an issue but it shrinks more yearly, strangely body morped is still going on for me, shorts that fit at same wait, didnt last ur, but this year they do. I never had a butt, but now I do, and waist has gone from 54 to 36, but up to 38 and fown to 34depending on yr lol. I can drink booze like I dud before, just can't chug a hole 12 glass. I can drink 64 oz of water in 15 minutes no problem, so I think the water think is to keep your pouch fuller long term but very important fitst yr. Dehydration is no joke, so I stay up drinking water if I haven't finished my 64 oz jug for day or 4 16 oz water bottles plus I like apple juice, which I mix with 3x as much water in my jugs. But tonight I realized I was 32oz short so I did. The last 2 yrs have really dedicating the water rule after dehydration happened twice, not fun. I also use syntex nectar and sugsr free walmart drink mix for my water bottles. Drink booze stopped my weight lose for a,week when I drank at 9 months. I notice now I will gain a few pounds for a few days after drinking booze, I don't much, but not sure if it is extra liquid or my guess, it messes bodies system and weight and digestion are really a rhythm. If I eat 3 meals and 2 snacks I lose weight, if I eat once, I gain so find your systems happy spot. I do best with a breakfadt, proteain drink lunch maybe just water, a dinner with carbs and protein, and cheese or a snack about 9, and then water until bed. Life is dimple as I live alone. When company comes and stay I eat with them and cook, thinks Zi just wouldnt normally eat. But that 5 lbs drops fadt after they leave, so you couples have it rough. I just don't buy bad idea food for me.

    Sleeve vs bypass

almost 8 months out and over 150lbs down. I had the sleeve done. I was diabetic type 2. I took 8 pills for it and 2 types of insulin usually about 8 injections a day. It was ridiculously expensive! I had considered surgery 6 yrs ago, but the surgeon was right at 400lbs and would only do ryn. I felt like he was a car salesman. He had done very few sleeves and seems forces all his patients into ryn. I questioned him for not having the surgery himself...he was truly bigger than me. I backed out. It was the best decision for me. 6 years later I decided I couldn't do this anymore and when I went to see a different doctor, thank God, he was totally fine with my decision and reasons for wanting the sleeve. I have personally seen too many people put the weight back on and be in poor health from the ryn. It is a tool not a cure, both surgeries are. However, for me, not having known anyone who had done the sleeve personally, and studying the procedures and what I really needed personally as a tool from the surgeries, the sleeve was the right choice for me. I was 51 when I had the surgery done. All the people I knew who had surgery to help them with weight were younger, and when we get older we really appreciate another chance at being healthy! I knew I could be successful where they had failed because I was doing this to stop killing myself! I won't go back to celebrating with food and drinks and the culture for my isn't as celebrating oriented. Having said all that...it is a choice for each of you but please know I was right at 400lbs. I stopped taking all insulin and medication for diabetes a week presurgery. All my blood work is great, I am no longer diabetic at all...according to my doctor. my blood pressure is 97 over 62. a1c is 4.8 I am 235 as of this morning. I was beign eater. I would stuff myself once a day. The absence of hunger and craving was what I needed. I was terrified about malabsorbtion, and having massive parts of organs in my body that just don't function...intestines. I am scared of zombie take over and not finding vitamins lol. I averaged 15lbs a month pretty much every month so far. I am 10lbs away for doctors goal weight for me...225 and 6ft2. My goal was 250. I have some loose skin but it seems to tighten up when I am not looking and doctor thinks I will have very little. At 6 months I was passed 60% excess weight lose, which I they wanted me for a year out! I have made myself sick 3 times eating more than I could handle...never again that hurt and felt too terrible to ever do again, and honestly I enjoy eating just what body needs, I love not eating stuff that isn't good for me because it doesn't fuel me...no desire for foods lol So, everybody should know as much about the surgery they choose as their brains will handle. For me the ryn was not something I think I could wrap my brain around and the sleeve d logical and not drastic. That is for me. Losing slowly is supposed to be better for shrinking skin, and muscle tone. Both surgeries work for diabetes. Anyway hope my story helps. I have only one regret that I didn't do it 10 years earlier, but you have to be ready, most that fail...fail for that reason

  14. My nipples have been sore, and I cried during Shameless last night! Lol Sent from my SM-N910T using the BariatricPal App
  15. Ok, I broke down. Drank 3 glasses of wine with a crying on my shoulder friend. Ok, bad choice, I got it, will I do it again, Lord I hope not. Now, the alcohol did not hit me harder than pre sleeve, but I gained 6lbs in the following 2 days! I think the wine really screwed up my system, calorie wise I am still staying well under my allowed amount anywhere from 600 to 800. I imagine most of it is Water, and needing a good bowel movement or two. Has anyone else experienced this? It was been 4 days and basically little change. Maybe 2 lbs lighter in morning, but back up at night. Should I go back to liquid diet for a few days, a week? I know I will get the drinking booze comments, and as I hope others will learn from my mistake, bring them on, but if anyone has had a similar experience, that would be helpful. For those who are wondering, will a few drinks really make a difference, I am posting this, and taking the abuse for you so please learn from my mistake Okay. Let me have it!
