Oh your close then the insurance company does not take long to make a decision by law i think they have like two weeks I think I could be wrong i knew about a week or week and a half out then once approved you get your date I am so excited for you
-
Sorry Shelly missed your post my surgery was a day after yours, how are you doing now, have things gotten any better for you? I have been through many changes and I am still on soft food per nutritionist I go for my 3 month evaluation in two weeks from today and my first set of labs post op so it will be interesting to see what they will be I am so excited to see them and hoping they take me off of the cholesterol meds and possibly the last of the blood pressure meds, I have been stalling so much and i struggle to get my protein in and my water since I went to soft food so I average about 48 oz of water and I am working on the protein my calories are very low between 500 and 900 on a great day.

How are you doing? have you been able to keep the weight off?

I hear yeah I was full of gas to which was making me feel nauseated and I was miserable from that I passed no gas day of surgery and the next afternoon passed a bit more I did not have a bowl movement until I left the hospital on Saturday and was at my mothers and I do think that did make a big difference but again I am still having trouble with the protein so I think I am going to look into that protein water you mentioned maybe that will help me better congrats on your surgery

All I can tell you is it is the best thing I have done for myself although I am only 5 days post op now and my circumstances are a bit different then yours and the program may be different any thing you do to improve your longevity to your health care can only be a good thing, I went through the essentia health program which is the only program my insurance would pay for, my support team has been wonderful and helped me lose 42lbs pre op. My father passed away just less then a week before my surgery so I had a lot of emotional stuff I was going through prior to my surgery and I was surrounded my family and food that i I had to have so much will power to comply with what I had to do, it is really hard to be doing Protein shakes while all others are eating lasagna which is one of my most favorite foods. I could have cancelled and rescheduled but my dad would have wanted me to continue for my health and I thought if I could get through all that the chances of me succeeding would be so much higher. My highest weight was 372 surgery weight was 305 and current weight 5 days post op is 302. I am still having trouble with the Protein Shakes but my doctor right now is more concerned with being hydrated and this I am doing fine with I am able to get my liquids in if I cut back on the protein shakes. I do suggest and there is a lot of information out there do follow your programs instructions and if you are having any issues let them now they are there for you. I had very little pain from surgery but i had very bad back pain from them having me on my back for 2 and a half hours so for three days they were mostly giving me pain meds for my back, I was up and walking 2 hours after they got me to my room and the had me sipping on broth, ice chips and eating Jello as soon as i got to my room although I was only taking in maybe an oz or two a a time and that increased I was past 40 oz for the day before leaving the hospital and I am now at my next weeks goal of 64 oz with out all the required protein once I can get on pureed food and soft food I know this will change. I am also off of 2 meds from get go and my metformin for my diabetes is on hold because my blood sugars are in the normal range this was one of the reasons for the surgery was to get off of the medications. Feel free to ask me any questions and if I can answer I will g'luck I am pulling for you

Well my surgery is over i am on the other side now so make room on t he losers bench for me, I left hospital this morning and everyone stated I did just great was walking the same day of my surgery and sipping on liquids I am up past 40 oz which was my next goal and working towards my next goal of 64 oz I am so very happy and now it begins
-
Mine was done in Duluth at St Mary's all turned out great, I am over the 40 oz of liquid they wanted me to take in and I am walking so just need to up it a bit and all is looking good thus far

Update surgery tomorrow morning got to get up very early in the morning my check in is at 5:15am I am ready for this next leg of the journey I would like to be to puree foods by my birthday I am so tired of the shakes now -
I got my call today from the scheduler stating thaI am thinking what a wonderful Christmas present I am am about to receive this year 22, wahoo I am so excited this has been a long road and and longer road to go. I have done very well thus far I have had losses every month except for last month I gained one pound I was very upset about it but the RN stated it was only 1 pound no big deal and told me to just stick with it. Congrats for all the others that are having their surgeries set i start my Protein shakes in three weeks and I feel this is going to be the hardest thing for me because i love food so much so this will surely be a challenge for me and I have already started buying and stocking up on soft protein foods for after the surgery for when I can eat again
-
Thank you, But it goes fast mine just before Christmas and 16 days before my birthday

G'day to all I am going in for my surgery tomorrow early in the morning, the toughest for me so far was these protein shakes they give me so much gas it makes me nauseated, and uncomfortable. My dad passed on friday the 16th so I have gone through a lot of emotional stuff, and food has been a big thing here and it smells so good, but I made it thus far and had to pull through it today is my last night so i am suffering with bloating and discomfort but also enjoy the broth and I am allowed v-8 which has been my life saver I do not like sweet things so gagging down the shakes is done for the night and I can enjoy a v-8 and after my medicated shower may sit back with a soup broth I am so ready to start the next leg of my journey. Congrats to all who are now on the other side of the surgery I will be joining you soon, -

Thank you for the advise I have being going through the per op process for 7 months now and they have been training me for the surgery and after surgery. And i hear yeah that is the one good thing a lot of the changes they wanted to make were things I had already changed and I was really never a soda drinker or coffee drinker tea is my thing and i did have to give up my kombucha for a bit they stated I may be able to add that slowly back in sometime after the surgery. Potato chips was the hardest thing for me to give up that was my comfort food of choice. My whole team is very confident that I will get through this just fine they have all been very pleased with me from the start -
I had GERD pretty bad for years and sick multiple times a week due to past vertical banding. My revision to RNY went well, and the GERD is gone and I can now eat healthy foods and have no more issues---It feels so good. Hope it works as well for you. Thank you I am hoping it helps to because I have suffered with this for many years now and it appears the healthy foods i like trigger it broccoli is one an cucumbers another. And now for the last week and a half I have not lost a lb I am getting discouraged I don't know what to do to get the scale moving again i don't want my support group thinking I am not trying because I am and I haven't changed much in what I am eating except eating more vegetables since the garden is now producing the fruits of my labor

The only thing about running the machine if is like the last two I had they shut off without being used after a short time I suppose if you have an older one you could do that I have been on cpap for almost 20 years now I am not sure how I am going to react when I can finally get off of mine
