Finally, it's out - after nearly 13 years!

I have had my lapband removed and have lost weight. It's all in how you eat and what you eat and a little exercising or walking so that the weight does not get out of control. You are in control of your body andbyour food intake. My dietician who is most helpful has provided me with great advice. Upon removal of my band, it makes good sense to go back to the eating habits prior to and after the surgery for my band. Sent from my SM-N910T using the BariatricPal App

    Restarting my journey.

Congratulations on everyyhing!!! I am also a resident of Indiana and planning on having the gastric bypass surgery. I had my lapband removed and recovering from it now and in 3 months will be having the gastric bypass surgery. Did you have the gastric bypass or the sleeve? How long did it take you to rrecovwr from your gastric bypass surgery. I have taken 3 weeks off from wwork to recover from my bans removal as it worked for the 1st year but I began having complications afterwards. So the doctor recommended that it be removed. I am now waiting to have bariatric surgery. I am kind of nervous about it, but know it is best for me. I am also seeking a buddy or mentor to provide their experience with the bariatric surgery as I am going through the process alone. Sent from my SM-N910T using the BariatricPal App Hey congratulations on your decision to have the gastric bypass done!!! I had the ryn-y done because of the amount of weight I needed to lose. I believe I took off 2 weeks from work but I also worked from home at that time and my supervisor was really supportive and worked with me. I would say that 3-4 weeks would have gotten me completely healed up and able to go in office to work. As long as you don't have any complications (I had one) the healing process is pretty simple. Sent from my 5054N using the BariatricPal App Oh thanks so much for the information!!! The acronyms you used for the type of gastric bypass, please provide with a brief description. I know that there is the gastric bypass and the sleve, but wasn't certain of which one you were referring to that you had. Again, thanks so mu h for your reply, as it was so helpful. NEED A LAPBAND MENTOR/BUDDY

Recently I have had a lapband port removal. I have been taking care of my wound by myself. Next year I will be having a gastric bypass surgery. Just need to talk with someone who has gone through the same process. Needing support. Would someone please be my mentor/buddy, as currently I do not have a support team? Unsupportive fiance

Move forward to doing what you think is best for YOUR body and your inner peace and , confidence level. So many people have gone through the same thing, went through with the surgery and BOOM the felt better about themselves, empowered, and their self esteem had gone to a higher level. This will also prove his real feelings about you, as he should be supportive of yoir decision and of your best interest. It could be that he is blocking your blessings for someone who has their best interest in you and is supportive of your wants and needs. His job is risky -- you don't know from day to day if you are going to get a knock on your door telling you that something happened to him in his lone of work. I am side that he likes his job and you support him in his decision to stay on that job. Its good that you are seeing this now because a relationship works both ways and it is not about what HE wants and needs itsbout what benefits you both. So do what it is that makes you happy and content with yourself. Sent from my SM-N910T using the BariatricPal App

  16. Was the larger incision left open to drain? Did you have to stuff it daily with medicated Guard stringy type paper and cover with gauze daily or was your large incision stitched or stapled up? Sent from my SM-N910T using the BariatricPal App
  17. I have had a lapband removal just last week. My surgeon left the whole oped from where the lapband was removed. It is rather painful and I have to remove the old packing of the whole and insert new medicine packing and then patch it up every day. My follow visit from the surgery was a horrendous one as I had no idea that my doctor was going to remove the gauze and the packing from the hole in my stomach and then stick his finger deep in the hole. I screamed to the top of my lungs. The doctor leaves the hole for drainage purposes so that there is no drainage inside the stomach and the blood stream. It is taking a while for the hole to close up and I am getting very frustrated with the healing process. Has anyone had this experience? I havr read about the band removals and the after experiences but they all seem to be the same and totally different from my experience. Sent from my SM-N910T using the BariatricPal App
