No I didn't tell them yet. I think I forgot really lol. My hospital stay copay with Kaiser is 500$, so I am definitely informing Kaiser before hand bc I believe either way Kaiser outsources to a Bariatric Team outside of Kaiser. I'm not 100% certain but from what I've been told, that seems to be the case. I'm just excited to get started. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

So I had a bad day...
emme.vee replied to reddy4chng's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Could it be that time of the month? I gain 2-3lbs during that time. Some women gain up to 5lbs. Also a ten pound loss in two weeks is still an accomplishment! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

How to quit sugar ?!?!?!?
emme.vee replied to Armygalbonnie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I quit all sodas (Coke person here) cold turkey. At the same time I also quit coffee. I did eventually end up drinking coffee again but I haven't drank soda since May 2013. I do occasionally have squirt or Coke mixed with vodka or tequila but haven't drank soda since then. Good luck. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

1st your therapist is right. This is your decision to make. 2ndly I'm sorry honey, I really don't think you're ready for this surgery. I would love to say go for it but I honestly feel that if you have this much of an issue getting yourself to break the chains that are enslaving you to the foods that ruined you, then you are not read for this journey just yet. It sounds like you need to work on a lot more than your weight. I am not saying that mean spirited. I'm saying that kindly. I have contemplated this surgery many times and I'm glad I never went thru with it before because I was mentally not ready. I doubted so many things about myself and I have gone to hell and back in the years since I first thought about the surgery. I would have likely gained all the weight if I had gotten the surgery when I originally planned on it. I have learned so much about food and diet and most importantly about myself. I think you know the answer to your question and you don't want to admit it. Please take this as serious as you can. Once you do it you can't undo it and if you're not willing to give up the foods you need to give up then you're not going to be successful either way. I wish you the best. Omg this is horrible. I'm sorry y'all have gone thru so much after reading so many good things about WLS. Can I ask a question? Did you and all of your friends have the surgery thru the same surgical team? Just wondering if they are at fault and you could possibly have a malpractice suit? Again, I'm so sorry. This is just terrible. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I'm gonna assume because of the risk of blood clots but I'm sure someone more educated on the issue can give you a better response. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Omg you look amazing!!! Great job!! Thank you for giving me hope too! I have sciatica pain off and on and mostly at night. I hate it. In the last week I've also had horrible toe pain. Almost as if I have arthritis. It lasted a couple of days and went away. I'm hoping it's not gout but it was really hard to walk. I am seeing my PCP on Friday and I can't wait. I want help with this weight loss, and knowing that there is a possibility my sciatica pain will go away after is all worth it. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Are you drinking enough Water? JW. I posted about this before and I'm surprised your nutritionist didn't tell you this but hunger pangs are much the same as when you're thirsty. There is nothing wrong with drinking more than 64oz./day. Idk tho, if you eat and then get hungry again right away...? That doesn't make sense. Maybe get in contact with your surgeon? This is kinda weird. Sorry honey. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Give it a couple of days. Your body retains a lot of Water during TOM. Don't be down on yourself! You're doing great. Here's an article for you. I'm gonna start being known as the article lady, lol. http://www.shape.com/lifestyle/mind-and-body/why-you-gain-weight-your-period -

emme.vee replied to Express09's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Um also idk if you're female or male but I usually gain 2-3lbs right before TOM. But I think more importantly don't stress yourself out with numbers. Put your scale away for a week. Sometimes stress makes it worse! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
@@FayBee kids are so blatant in such an innocent way, but I think sometimes we need it. I have 1 six year old and my other kids range from 21-12. I wish I would have had the surgery sooner so that they grew up seeing me active instead of a couch potato lol. But everything happens for a reason. I wasn't as savvy about health back then and I probably would have sabotaged myself. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Good advice! I'm probably not drinking as much as I should. I'm not a great fan of water but I know it's necessary - gonna persevere! Jo x It took me a really long time to get used to drinking water. Then in a pinch I had to limit my spending and I cut out things we could do with out, juices, flavored water, soda. It really forced me to drink a lot more water as well as my kids. Now I prefer water over everything else but it is hard sometimes because water seems so boring lol. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Good advice! Hi Jo! Growing up any time I said I was hungry out of my normal eating hours, my mom said drink Water. I never knew why she said this, I just always assumed that it was because I hated drinking water as a kid. I have finally found out why. Thirst is often confused for hunger pangs. Idk if this is what you're experiencing but if so, maybe increase your water in take after your meal. It might help. Just my two cents lol.
