O. M. G. All this time...all this time I haven't known about this! My boobs hurt so much for sometimes up to a week before my period and during and I don't get back to normal sometimes until I'm all done. I never knew it was because of my caffeine intake. I guess I might as well start cutting back. Good luck kicking the habit. I hope it goes more smoothly now. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I'm typically very open about everything with mostly everyone. I don't have anything to hide really. I'm just over sensitive about this because one time one of the girls that used to work here took time off to get a boob job. She was in her mid 40s and went from a size A to a D. She never told anyone why she was taking a vacation she just did. And then she came back with breasts. It was the freaking talk of the century. Like who cares? It's her body, but you know people can be so petty. I am such a horrible liar! But at least I have time to think about it... Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Anyone else just starting this journey
emme.vee replied to Frenchie1977's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I ❤️ researching everything. Lol. I was researching too and I kept coming across posts from this site so I decided to join. I already asked my doctor for the referral. I go to orientation in 10 days. I can't wait to get started. I have never been able to get to a healthy weight as an adult. I've done so many pills, diets...I'm ready to get to a healthy weight that I can maintain. I say take the plunge. What's the worst that could happen? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Fitting on roller coasters at amusement parks?
emme.vee replied to provenzee's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
And I have also gone to amusement parks at a little over 220lbs (I'm 5'4") and been fine to ride several different types of rides. Have fun! I think while it's easy for your body to change size, your brain has a hard time adjusting to that. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Fitting on roller coasters at amusement parks?
emme.vee replied to provenzee's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My girlfriend works for a court reporting agency where a lot of cases have gone thru in regards to amusement park injuries/lawsuits etc. while most of them are frivolous, there has been one that has always stuck with me. There was an overweight woman that fell out of a moving coaster at an amusement park in California and fell to her death. The woman weighed over 300 lbs. From expert testimony it appears that when you're overweight, while the restraints will close, and it appears all is well, your body conforms to the restraints and that's not safe because once the ride is in motion, your weight shifts around and could potentially cause the restrains to unfasten. Scary stuff. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Haha mine does too. I could never be a poker player! And I stutter when I lie. No matter how hard I try not to, it happens. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Too many people, too many levels of emotions, not everyone will be pleased all of the time. You can't control how everyone is going to react to every word you are putting out there. Someone is bound to get offended one way or another. Me? Give it to me raw, tell me the nitty gritty. Don't sugar coat it. Don't patronize me by saying things nicely in order to avoid conflict. I will not be offended because I come here for advice. I'm new to all of this. I want to research and know and be prepared. I don't want to look into this experience with rose colored glasses. But again; that's my opinion. I know everyone doesn't feel the same. I have yet to see someone be rude on here. I don't understand what this stemmed from, but hopefully vets don't get pushed out. I like being informed on every possible situations and I really enjoy reading these posts. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Just the beginning...
emme.vee replied to MrsPrincessPunisher's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi! Welcome! I too am just getting started. I have my orientation meeting on August 11th & I fill out the paperwork that night and start on the options classes they Kaiser (hopefully) in September. Options classes are three months but after that I know I would have to have a few tests done as well as a psych consult. To answer your question, it seems as tho it really matters on what type of insurance you have and what their requirements are. Some insurance companies require a six month period between initial consult to surgery date. I am excited to get started as I'm sure you are too. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

Can't lose the 15
emme.vee replied to northstar9148's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Aw thanks! I would like to try it but my girlfriend snores too loud lol. She's thinner and smaller than me all around and she snores like a trucker! Haha j/k but she gets pretty loud sometimes so I have to move her. One time my 6 yo and I recorded snoring via snapchat lol and then we sent it to her . She was not happy lol. uh me! Right here! Lol. At first I was like ummmm I don't think I can watch this. Then a couple of days later I watched it and I was fascinated. I have also been watching a lot of sleevers on YouTube. And now I've also been watching plastic surgery videos . Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I had several problems with the Mirena. Historically I've done bad with any type of hormonal birth control, which is why I didn't want it in the first place but my OBGYN kept saying how awesome it is, how the hormonal dosage is so light and how I wouldn't get a period. Had a period for 5 of those 6 months. My Iron level was low, my weight fluctuated between a 2lbs loss to a 10lbs gain DAILY! (I was walking/jogging 3-5 miles daily & eating low cal/low carb) and I almost had to be committed to the psych department by the end of the 6 months. The only reason I wasn't committed was because I begged my husband at the time not to do it. It was the absolute worse thing I ever did. I can't believe I was dumb enough to being pressured into getting it. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

10 Months Post Op Update
emme.vee replied to LoseItKacy's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I did have a fat % check at my 6 month post op. They said I was pretty much allowed to get to 130 but they would rather me not get lower than 135. I'm 5'6 so I'm not super tall. I'm trying to find the sheet they gave me with my fat %. It was on the higher end of normal which is why I want to lose 10 more. I think it will give me a bit of a cushion and with as much as I run I think 10 pounds might make it a little easier. They said I technically don't have to lose more because I'm athletic and have a normal BMI but I just think I will feel better if I shed a little more. At least under 150, I'm not too worried about the number tho. I've been going off what feels good. Also tho, you've been working out a lot since your six months so your fat percentage probably dropped tremendously in that time frame. You likely have a lot more muscle now than you did then. You look freaking amazing!!! Great job maintaining and keeping yourself looking great. I hope I get awesome results like you. Keep up the good work. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Nervous -- How about some stories on how much better you feel?
emme.vee replied to sc101071's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
This made me tear up. My feet hurt a lot. All the time. My favorite flip flops, I buy them every couple of years or every year depending on how worn out they get, well I got a new pair this summer and they fit so tight that they leave marks. I can't wait till I can finish my day and not have to prop up my feet because they are throbbing in pain. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Need advice from gastric bypass veterans
emme.vee replied to beachwalker4rny's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
If you don't want to feel like an oddball, I always make it very clear that I don't drink and drive. At my work we have beer Friday's or sometimes we have little parties in the last hour of work for special occasions. While I would love to enjoy an alcoholic beverage (I'm pre-op) I always decline because I feel very strongly on drinking and driving. I had a family member die bc he had been drinking and fell out of a moving vehicle. I just use the drinking and driving excuse. Now if that doesn't work, someone once told me what they do is get a drink and carry it around all night. Everyone is drinking and doesn't even notice! Lol. If you actually think you can handle an alcoholic beverage, here is a great drink I was introduced to as a low cal drink: Malibu Rum with Water over ice. It tastes really good! I was surprised. And there is only 50 calories per ounce, so provided you drink the whole thing, that's 75 calories. Good luck. I love social drinking and I know I will miss it when ever I do get my sleeve, but it is a small thing I am willing to give up for a bigger better change in my life. Have fun!! @ yes! I added you as a friend. I finally figured out how to add friends lol. It would be nice to have someone at the same stage to go thru this with. I'm trying to convince my sister to do this with me too. I have seen about 98% of sleevers say their only regret is not having gotten the surgery sooner, that is why I keep trying to convince my sister lol. I am going to ask my friend if she kept all her appointments and such. She mentioned something about having to do weight watchers so the insurance had a documented weight loss effort. Maybe that's why it took longer for her. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Can't lose the 15
emme.vee replied to northstar9148's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@northstar9148, have you thought about taking some natural sleep aid? I'm guessing you probably have but in case you haven't, once in a while I take half a melatonin or Benadryl or Tylenol PM (last two not so natural lol). But my son sometimes drinks sleepy time tea if he can't fall asleep and he's also drank valerian root tea (smells kinda nasty ). Idk just some ideas. I have a hard time sleeping period. I'm really wondering if I have sleep apnea but I have no way of knowing. Good luck! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Awesome @! I hope I get into the September class too. I guess there was an orientation today but it was too short notice. I was told by a friend who also has Kaiser her process took a total of 9 months from referral day to surgery day. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Definitely! I'm typically very thorough in my decision making lol. I think everyone just rolls their eyes at me now because I can't make a decision on the spot about big things in life. I research and weigh the pros and cons and in the end I go in with my mind 100% made up. This is how I happened upon this board . Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Duuuuude the Mirena was the WORST thing to ever happen to me! Ever! My doctors made me keep it in for 6 months. By the end of the six months I was in such a fragile state of mind. I had to be placed on anti-depressants & anxiety medication. My weight fluctuated daily, between a 2lbs. loss to a 10lbs gain. In those six months I bled almost consistently. I had a few days to a week between periods. I had periods that lasted a month! A month!!! Wtf. I probably was period free maybe a whole month in that six month timeframe. Worst thing ever. I'm kind of wondering if I should just cancel out my Kaiser plan and start the process thru Tricare. My only reasoning for this is because my company just switched to this insurance in January and I'm kind of wondering if they will keep it past January. I don't anticipate getting a surgery date before the end of 2016, since I know the process takes time. I mean I will take the surgery tomorrow if I could lol but you know what I mean. I guess I'll decide after my orientation meeting. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
