  1. Happy 30th Birthday caribelita!

  2. Happy 29th Birthday caribelita!

  3. There's a few possibilities: 1) You can change to a form of the medicine that can be crushed or at least split into smaller pieces. (You'll have to talk to your prescribing health professional for this) 2) You can change to another type of medicine that does that same thing (but that can be administered in a table that can be crushed or split up, or that can be administered in a capsule that can be taken apart--and that way you can put the little balls in applesauce or some other "smooth" food) Hope this helps!

    Need Help at Night

Have you considered the possibility that part of the problem is that you may be setting yourself up for binge-mode by not eating much at all during the mornings and during lunch time? Although it's good that you're reducing your calories and it may seem easier to do it when you're not "hungry", it's also important to eat "enough" throughout the day so that you don't set yourself up for a binge at night. Perhaps you could try eating a little bit more during the morning and during lunch (even if you're not that hungry), and then see if this helps you stave off your night-time bingeing. This might be a good experiment to try. Good luck!
  5. First of all, congratulations on the weight loss. And second of all: no I wouldn't worry about having lost 10 lbs. within a week. The truth is, most of that is Water weight, as the body goes through a chemical process that sheds excess water weight when it's on high Protein and liquid diets. Of course, I can't say how much of those 10 lbs. are actual pounds of fat or muscle that you've lost, but the odds are the bulk of it is water weight, which is why we have to make sure to continue sticking to the diet AND exercise, since this is what will truly make us lose those "fat pounds" that we want to lose. Anyways, congratulations!
  6. I was banded on May 7th, and so far, everything has been going well. I went in for my 2 week appointment and have lost 10 lbs., so the surgeon was happy with my progress. I have noticed something pop up that I'm not sure whether or not I should be concerned about. I'm the cook of the family, so I've been cooking for my "boys" ever since the surgery was over. Initially, I'd call them down to be my taste testers, but that's become quite a nuisance and sometimes even undoable (since they like going outside to play, etc.). Therefore, I started putting a bit of food in my mouth to taste it, and then I'd spit it out since I knew that I wasn't allowed to actually 'have' that food. At first it seemed pretty benign, since it was extremely small quantities, and it was just for tasting purposes. However, these last 2 days I've caught myself putting a few croutons in my mouth, chewing them until they were really liquidy, and then spitting them out (since I know that croutons aren't the kind of food that I'm supposed to be eating). Should I be worried about this? Has anyone else experienced a similar eating behavior crop up after surgery?
  7. I'd also like to add that, while obvious to many (though a good reminder for others), Xenical and Alli only 'work' when you've eaten food that has some amount of fat in it. Therefore, it's completely unproductive to take the pills if you're just having a fat-free popsicle or something else that has no fat or almost no fat. If you were to take the Xenical and Alli in these cases, you'd just be wasting your money. So make sure to only use them when they'll actually aid your weight loss. Good luck!!! :crying:
  8. If all else fails and you can't find a Lap Band surgeon in the area that does fills, you can always come to Rochester, NY and get your fills here. I know it's a bit of a trip, but it's not too bad, and I know of at least 2 doctors that do fills here. I was banded in Boston and will be getting 2 fills here (in Rochester) during the summer months before I go back to Boston to resume my studies in the fall, so it's definitely an option here. Good luck!
  9. Thanks so much for the quick reply! That's very helpful. Out of curiosity, other than having to go back for your first fill (I believe approximately 6 weeks after your surgery), did you have to travel back to your surgeon for any other kind of visit?
  10. Hi everyone, I have a question that I need to resolve as quickly as possible so that I can finalize my plans surrounding my surgery. My surgery is scheduled for May 7th in Boston, and my family lives in Rochester, NY. How many days do I have to wait to go back home to Rochester on a plane (only a 1 1/4 hr. flight)? I'll have someone to take care of me in Boston, but I do want to go back home ASAP after the surgery, so if anyone has an answer, please let me know!
