It seems a lot easier to get accepted then in Canada - at least in the part of Canada I live in your weight first of all must be within a certain range - if you are over they will work with you to bring your weight down but you will not be accepted for surgery until you are within the range. Then you must meet with a psychologist, kinesiologist, dietician, and a surgical nurse. You must meet a certain criteria and be willing to adjust your exercise levels, eating habits, and have your lab work within a healthy range before you can move on. Any one of them can say you are not a fit candidate. I have my second meeting with the dietician, kinesiologist, and dietician on the 18th hopefully I have meet all my expectations. The next step will be with the anesthesiologist and after that the surgeon before I am given a surgical date. It is a very involved process and they make sure that you have the absolute best chances of success

    Why did you choose bypass?

In Canada where I live we are not given the choice the doctors once in decide what's best. The will do the bypass over the sleeve due to the fact that for if in the future it becomes medically necessary they are able to reattach the stomach. That is the reasoning in all my meetings I have had. I have yet to receive my date for surgery but I have done 2 preliminary meetings and I go again on the 18th of this month and if my Iron levels are where they need to be I will get an appointment with the anesthesiologist in prep for surgery. Excited and terrified all in one.
