    3 weeks tomorrow and lost....

I was nauseous and it was hard to eat or drink and I would get sick after eating right up until like 8 weeks. I am now at 10 1/2 weeks. I am so much better. Just eat or drink only what you can. Some of us are slow healers. It will get better. I took all the nausea Meds from my dr and whatever I could get at the pharmacy. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Taste Buds

Hate to tell you I am 9 weeks out. It's hard. Your tastes change. I just stick with premier Protein chocolate. I used to love the pumpkin shake from GNC. Water is hard to drink. It's getting better. For me but slowly. food is not so enjoyable anymore. Probably a good thing. But we are losing weight. Which is the point. Good luck and keep the faith Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  4. I consider myself an expert when it comes to autoimmune rheumatic diseases. First- let's talk your prednisone: See an endocrinologist. Pronto. I was taking 60 mg of pred a day for years. There was no weaning off, because any time I got down to 20-25mg, I literally could not function. In any capacity. Enter the endocrinologist. Because the prednisone does just as much (if not more!) damage than good, my adrenal function was gone, I had prednisone induced glaucoma as well as prednisone induced diabetes. I needed off the meds ASAP. She prescribed me ORAL hydrocortisone. It mimics- and tricks- your body into believing it is prednisone, and is MUCH easier to wean off of than the prednisone. It took a total of 2.5 months vs over a year or longer if it were the prednisone. Do this. Again, ASAP. Ask for it. Second- methotrexate, either by pill or injection: pills made me sick, puking, typical chemo side effects. The shots did not, and they actually work much more effectively than the pills, so if given a choice, it is a once a week teeny tiny needle. Side effects- don't bother paying attention to them. The benefits far outweigh any possible adverse effects. You will need regular blood work to monitor your liver enzymes. Again, I have been on a very high dosage, so mine were often screwy. Third: I can't imagine any surgeon doing WLS or ANY elective surgery while you are on either of these meds. I had to "wash out" before I could have my surgery, meaning get all traces of the meds out of my blood system and stored reserves. Both drugs make you more susceptible to infection and the prednisone especially makes healing hard. And keeps weight on. Again- seeing an endocrinologist will get you off the pred by using oral hydrocortisone pills. Usually PMR goes away after a year or so. I wonder if you don't have true rheumatoid arthritis? The tests- a sed rate and C-reactive Protein screen are used for PMR as well as other autoimmune arthritis diagnosis. Just a thought. So- don't worry about side effects of the methotrexate and get off the pred!!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Hi am just seeing this now. Thank you for responding. I did get off prednisone about 8 months ago. But it started to come back and about 2 months later I couldn't take it and went back on. My rheumatologist says cut down till I feel pain. Then start methotrexate. Shots. So I can continue to get off prednisone. I did have all the testing done. They did suspect fibromyalgia ms. Lupus RA etc Till all tests were done. I will look into seeing an endocrinologist. I did tell the dr about prednisone. He said it was fine and I may lose slower. I am now 9 weeks out and lost 20 pounds. 10 more the week before surgery. I was "only" 201 day of surgery. I would like to lose faster but. I really want to get off the prednisone. Thank you and why doesn't my rheumatologist k ow about this? Fried chicken

I tried fried chicken breast the other day 8.5 weeks out. Just the meat not the outside. I ate a few bites and either I ate too fast or it was too dry. I felt bad for an hour. Tonight however I got Boston market. 1/4 dark meat. With a little creamed spinach. I definitely ate too fast. I ate 1/2 of the 1/4 chicken and some of f the spinach. Felt bad for 1/2 hour. When will I learn to slow down!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  6. I bought it to drink as is. It's ok. Better if it were added to something. Just remember not too hot or it will look like scrambled eggs. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  8. I'm in the same situation. Losing slow but still losing. Down 30 including pre op diet. I am finally at the point that I'm glad to have done the surgery. I dont enjoy food like I used to. But I guess that's what got me in trouble in the first place. I am 8 1/2 weeks out. I am still nauseous a lot. Hard to drink enough Water. Tastes awful. If i eat anything besides really safe food like yogurt or Soup or shakes. My stomach hurts anyone else? When does it get better? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  11. I was sleeved August 15th. Still nauseous after most food. That is not yogurt or Protein shakes. oatmeal is ok. But fish. chicken. Pork. Does not sit well. Anyone else? I also had hiatal hernia repair. Not sure that has anything to do with it. I also wake up nauseous. I see my doc on Wednesday. Just want to make sure it is normal and will go away. Water still tastes bad. I see so many posts with people that say their recovery was so easy it's frustrating. I am the type of person that never gets s sick either so I thought it would be easier for me. I also haven't lost a lot of weight. Started at 211. Pre surgery diet. 201 surgery day. 184. 7 weeks post op. Unfortunately I still take prednisone. Probably for 8 more months. I am tapering off and into something else I know that doesn't help either. 12. I am 7 weeks out. I still eat mostly yogurt. Protein shakes And occasionally oatmeal. I have tried more solid food like chicken or pork or a small homemade hamburger. I feel sick and nauseous after eating them though. I read posts here all the time where people are fine after the first week or two. I am definitely better as every week goes by But I thought by this time I would be eating a little more normal. Anyone else in the same situation? I did have a hiatal hernia repaired the same time as sleeve. But not sure if that affects his my sleeve heals. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
