I woke up with a catheter. It was much easier than getting up to go. Morphine pain button. First day. Walked that night. Then every two hours next day. I felt terrible first 24 hours then much better. Didn't use pain meds at home. Abs felt a little sore. I brought a lot of stuff. I only used my phone and charger. Chapstick. Toothbrush. Hairbrush to look good walking in the halls wearing the gown. And I brought biotine. It's for dry mouth. I did do a leak test. It was awful. I told them I couldn't drink the stuff or I'll throw up. But alas I did not. It was fine. Best of luck Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

Every surgery has risks. I Read all the bad outcomes. But thought it was a good choice for me to go ahead with surgery. I worried till I got to the hospital. The Drs and nurses were fabulous. I talked to my anesthesiologist till I don't remember. I woke up and it was done. The first 2 days I had diarrhea. Of course I read that some people have it forever. But just like my info packet said I might have it for 2 days is gone and I'm fine. Everyday gets easier. I wAs mad reading all the posts that people felt great from day 1 after surgery. I was nauseous a lot the first few days. But I'm 12 days out and doing fine. I too wish I did it 10 years ago. But better late than never. Do what your heart tells you. Don't over think it. Just think what life will be like in 3 months. 6 months etc. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

It should feel like your ab muscles got a work out. It was hard for me to move around In bed so I tried to stay still. M almost 2 weeks post op and pain is gone. It will get easier. Sounds normal. I didn't take pain meds after the hospital cause I thought I shouldn't move in a way that was hurting my insides. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App -

Thanks I had seen that book before but forgot the name. Its important to deal with what made us/me, weigh so much and have to get surgery to be healthy. I may also see a therapist, I used to think about food all the time. Now not at all. But there will be a time in the future when I physically can eat more and don't want to get into trouble.

Hard time imagining myself small
jenjenp replied to campingdiva's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi. Just read your post. If you've been heavy all your life of course it's normal. You not being able to picture yourself thin. I lost 96 pounds 4 years ago, naturally, I was at my all time low of 149. I would walk by a mirror and think that can't be me. I have since gained back 60. I had sleeve surgery Monday the 15th. Can't wait to get it back. You will do great. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App -
Hi, I had surgery Monday afternoon, august 15th. I had been reading this site for months getting ready. Ill just give a few tips if anyone new is on here and haven't had it done yet. I was nervous until I got to the hospital, everyone was wonderful and explained everything that was going to happen. Ive had surgery before. When I awoke and was brought to recovery, I was in a lot of pain and was nauseous. I would do it again in a minute. I stayed there a while. The guy next to me was talking normally with the nurses, I could have killed him. Turns out he just had a minor procedure, I forget what, so Ill let it go. Before hand I had heard many people say no pain, piece of cake etc, I think they must have had amnesia regarding that first day!! Once in my room, the nursing staff was great they kept giving me anti nausea medicine. There was a pain remote control you could press every 8 minutes. I pressed it a lot and tried to sleep. I got up and walked 8 hours after surgery. During that first night, I couldn't sleep much because the nurses checked your vital signs often. The next day was like a miracle, I had some abdominal pain, but that was it. I got up and went to the bathroom by myself. I can drink Water, jello( yuk) and yes. Regarding what to bring, I stressed over it The only think I used from my bag was my phone charger, chapstick, face cleanser wipes, and very import was Biotin spray. It moistened your mouth. I was nauseous and could eat the ice chips, you couldn't have water till later. It was like a miracle, the day after surgery I got up every two hours and walked the halls. I still had some abdominal pain, gas? , not sure. 2 days out and I have high hopes!!

I am getting ready for my surgery tomorrow. Went to GNC to get a couple of Protein drinks. I have tried the usual chocolate and vanilla. Most are too sweet. Dont get me wrong I like sweet, but after surgery I don't want to crave sweets or carbs. GNC had their brand, forgot the name, pumpkin spice premade drink. Delicious, not too sweet. This is the last day but 30% off the first item, any item, 50% off the second. I bought a single cold one, tried it in the car and went back and got two 4- packs. I know they say tastes change after surgery, hope I still like this one!!

Anyone with a low BMI (30-33) had sleeve surgery or will be?
jenjenp replied to SD123's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 5'3". 205lbs. I am self pay gastric sleeve. Aug 15th. I lost 96 pounds on my own 4 years ago. But since put back on 60. I don't see how it is any different for me and o lose 100 as a heavier person to lose 100? My husband is the only one that knows about surgery because I fear others think it's the easy way out too. Why can't I just eat less and go to the gym. Many other regular weight people eat like I do and don't go tongue gym. But also don't gain weight. Everyone is different. 10 months, 192 pounds, you my hero! Congrats, I do see mostly negative reviews about recovery. Its like reviews online, so its good to see your surgery went well. I am going into this thinking all is going to be great. If its a little uncomfortable for a week, I can handle it. I put myself in this situation, so.... jen -
