    I want to get drunk.

This is my opinion as it applies to me...during the weeks prior to surgery giving up alcohol, carbonated drinks and caffeine were really more about the mindset that I was reinforcing rather than if I could get away with drinking them. I've spent many years seeing if I could get away eating and drinking certain things. And guess what? I had 85% of my stomach removed last week because I can't. I believe very strongly that this difficult decision requires full commitment. Again, based on my experience. ☀️ Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Surgery in the morning at 7!

Good luck! You're almost there. They took me into the OR put a sedative in my IV and a nanosecond later I was in recovery! You'll do great! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Liver reduction diet starts tomorrow.

It was not as hard as I thought it would be. It raised my level of commitment to the whole thing. And I liked getting my cravings under control with the Protein shakes. Good luck to you all. You're gonna do great!☀️ Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Can I have some yogurt now ?!

They gave me low fat vanilla yogurt with unjury in it in the hospital the day after my surgery. Something I've realized on this site is the variations among doctors is amazing when it comes to what to eat when. There's one person posting that their doc keeps them on Clear liquids for over a week after surgery while others are on puréed in the second week. I'm glad my doctor gave me a clear cut guide to follow for safety. But 6 days post I'm finding that my body is telling me what I can tolerate. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Jealous friends?

Just because they are asking doesn't mean you have to answer. As a matter of fact keeping your business will lead to them shrugging their shoulders and moving on to something else. If you do start talking...it's an open topic. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Jealous friends?

Everyone has their opinion. I'm trying to keep my info as private as possible. I don't need negative energy from people's judgements. I only had one friend who tried to talk me out of it. I don't think it was out of jealousy. I just think she wasn't ready for such a drastic step as surgery. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Question for hiatal hernia people

Yes. My heating pad is my new best friend. I hope you are feeling better soon! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App I have also enjoyed a great bit of relief from Biofreeze. I have a spray bottle of it and I spray my shouldered and neck area a couple times a day. Just don't use it WITH a heating pad. Sent from my KFTBWI using the BariatricPal App Thank you! 8. My gastric sleeve surgery has been a nonissue for postop problems compared to the crazy pain in my neck and shoulders from the hiatal hernia fix (which never was a problem). Before I left the hospital my surgeon said the neck and shoulder pain is due to him messing with my diaphragm area. Have any of you experienced this? How long did it last? I get a couple of good hours after taking Tylenol but trying to sleep is miserable. It's starting to get me down. Thanks. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Up and ok at 100%

I had surgery last Tuesday, 9/27. I feel more myself today. So much so that I keep pushing the line of overdoing it. I hope you feel better in the next couple of days. Hang in there. ☀️ Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Question for hiatal hernia people

Thank you! I have researched as much as I could find online. It helps to know this is somewhat normal. I hope I can see some progression of less pain in the next few days. I'm thankful that my sleeve has not had issues. Thanks again for the info. And I hope your stitches feel better soon as well. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Question for hiatal hernia people

5 days. I use a heating pad for some relief. It feels like the kind of neck issues that result from being in a car wreck. The pain meds give me a headache but I may take a half tonight for some sleep. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  13. I lost 15 lbs. My surgeon told me he wanted me to lose 10-12 lbs. I was surprised on Tuesday before surgery when they told me 15. But I did not lose prior to the liquid diet, so that probably made a difference. My liquid diet included a few servings of sugar free Jello, pudding, etc. I stayed on the diet very strictly. 14. When I started my preop liquid diet my partner started feeling "lonely." A lot of our time spent together after work was eating out. Change is scarier to some people than others. Just hang in there and stick to your goals. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  15. Tomorrow I report to the hospital at 6 am to be sleeved. I spent time today getting a pep talk from a colleague who had the surgery a year ago. I have family support. Now I just need to suck it up and lunge forward. Nervous but excited at the same time. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    How much protein

My surgeon=4x8 oz of unjury (21 grams x4), two of those 8 oz servings are made with skim or red fat milk. So adding that protein=101 total. My starting BMI is slightly below 40. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  19. My surgery is 9/27. This Tuesday. I have had a couple of people ask if there isn't some other way to do this. But a couple of key people have been super supportive. My mother is 80 and has struggled her whole life with her weight. She knows I need to do this NOW. I was so touched tonight by a text from my future daughter in law saying that she is excited for me and the new life I'm about to begin. Hold on to the support and brush the rest off. 20. I admire you for going through all this and looking after two young children! Reading it made me quit my own whining about my liquid preop diet! take it a day at a time. Like I keep telling myself, feelings don't last forever. You can do this but ask for help to get you through. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Pre & Post Op diet

My doctor requires unjury. I like it better than expected. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Protein shake

Agreed. My surgeon requires Unjury for pre op liquid diet. Chocolate is good with skim milk. The plain is good in cold decaf coffee--almost tastes like a brand name coffee drink. The strawberry sorbet is okay. I will order more Unjury for post op next week. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
