I am so happy. I never thought I could do it. I did it about 3.1 mph and an incline of 11 (ok, sometimes I had to drop it down to 9 but still...). I am a little confused about something. I think I misunderstood the trainer, so I am hoping one of you can clear things up. I burned about 600 calories. Did I burn fat that was already stored or did I just basically burn 600 calories of the food I ate today? I hope to add weight training in a few weeks. Thanks much, :whoo:

Christy, What got him to change his mind? Did you start to 'squeak'?
-
I did not start in the 300 category, but want to comment that people will advise what they are most comfortable with. Perhaps your doctor doesn't have much experience with lap bands and particularly doesn't have much experience placing bands on patients with higher BMI's. Why don't you ask him how many bands has he placed on patients with similar weight/BMI as yours. Personally, I too belive the RNY surgery will help to take the weight off sooner but there are far too many tradeoffs. Far to invasive. I like knowing I haven't done anything 'permanent' to my body. Good luck with your decision.

Not band related, Maybe XXX, maybe some arguing...

Teresa, During the entire 'activity' I kept thinking of the cowbell skit and cracking myself up laughing. My husband didn't know what was wrong with me and he didn't care. He just loved the fact I woke him from a nap. BTW have you seen the cowbell video? I couldn't believed I actually watched the whole thing --- twice! Lisa -
Ladies, It was really nice meeting you all today. I called my husband and told him about the gathering and my goals, which are very aggressive by my standards. I promised to look up some information regarding getting insurance approvals for the WLS. Below is the .pdf file for your review. I am not sure who mentioned that one of the files I posted required payment for thier services, you were right. I didnt' read the information, as I am a self pay client. But I am not going to include it here. For those of you seeking insurance approval, I hope this helps. Lisa Oh, yea. Thanks for the obesity help website. I think I landed on here before (forum) but didn't realize just how much information they provided. www_geocities_com_laylaburd_AGB_inssurg.pdf

Heather, ROFLMAO ---- I was just jokin. No cowbells involved. There is a guy who has as his signature tag line, "I love those cowbells...or more cowbells". Something like that. We didn't use Peanut Butter or cowbells, although I am sure my husband would like to see them tied to my ankles. -

Ok..I am back. We got out the Peanut Butter and the cowbells....and went at it. Hot Damned! It feels like I burned at least 300 calories. I'll be it was the cowbells. Hope I didn't offend anyone mentioning intimate toys. -

This thread has got me all hot and bothered. I think I am going to give my husband some much needed attention, as it seems I am a bit more attractive to him since losing 18 lbs. BTW I lost the weight due to this surgical procedure I had -- the lap band. -

Delara, I am a Christian and hell yes I have a vagina. Where is the thread? I must have missed it. I love the threads that address sex issues, as sex is real and worth talking about. Delara - I also agree with you that if you have to see and listen to those of us who are Christians rant and rave then we too must be tolerant of those who choose to communicate in ways that might be offensive (Note: not offensive to me). Where the hell is the naked man? Heck I wanna see that too! I too am dissapointed because I was expecting some real XXX stuff. That is why I clicked on the well labeled thread, becuase of the XXX which of course I associate with sex, pornography, kissing, adult stuff etc. Now seriously, I would be very offended if I opened a thread that wasn't labeled properly. However, I choose to be on this board and I choose to read what other say. I take some of what they say, I leave what I don't. WE aren't going to all agree all the time. Hell, that's life and that's what seperates the men from the boys - maturity. I love the racier threads and those brave enough to broach the subject. -

How much pain/discomfort am I suposed to be in?
ljones4521 replied to Nickysmom's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I agree get the gas-x pills and do try to walk. Even if it is only baby steps. I walked for what seems like hours at the hospital and then after discharge we went and did a little shopping (Mexico) where we walked even more. I hated it while doing it but understood walking is the best way to get things going. ONce I got home I would walk around (wouldn't do the steps) upstairs becuase my calves were aching as well. Also, try a tea that's helps with gas. I drank lots of tea during recovery. I too suffered with hiccups. It happened EVERY time I sipped something. It was excruciating. Then one morning I woke up and felt completely normal! As if I hadn't had surgery. I called my patient coordinator and told her something was terrible wrong. I was certain my band had slipped or something. I didn't expect to feel so completely normal. Hope you feel better soon. Hugs  Nicky, I have a 9.75 cm band that holds 5cc's. At time of surgery I got a 1.5cc fill. Still had the same symptoms you are describing, except I had to drink very slowly. Liquids didn't pass very quickly or easily (becuase of the swelling). -
December Bandsters: First Fill Yet?
ljones4521 replied to phazer08's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was banded on Dec. 12, 2005 and don't plan to get a fill. I rec'd a fill of 1.5cc at the time of surgery (not enough fat around my stomach, band was too loose), so I don't really know if this counts as a fill. I don't really count it. I kinda view it as a necessasity for the band to remain in place. I have a little restriction. Not nearly as much as others. I can chug-a-lug Water and can eat much more than a 'bite or two'. I can almost eat a full saucer of food - depends on the food. Have lost 17 lbs so far. Probably could have been more if I hadn't picked up drinking coffee again. I have since switched to non-fat and limit it to 3x week. -
I agree! What an inspiration!

$7,300 in Acuna Mexico. Dr. Rodriguez. Included everything except airline tickets.

I have started walking at the gym. Right now I really just want to make it a habit of actually going, even if it is only for half an hour. I am going to concentrate on walking for the next couple of weeks before moving to weights.

I just found I have to go to church tomorrow in Virginia! Please tell me about how long these meetings last. I really really want to attend, as I don't have anyone to talk to about my condition. Thanks Lisa

Will you guys please share information regarding fill doctors in our area (DC, VA or MD) who are willing to accept patients from Mexico. Thanks SEE you all in a few days!

I have absolutely no tolerance for pain, either. I have had 2 c-sections and the c-sections were by far the worst. In fact the pain from scar hung around for nearly 6 months, not to mention the level of pain the first 2 wks after the birth. My only problem with the lap band was the gas. HOwever, I'd pop a gas-x for immediate relief.

My doctor can't believe it.............
ljones4521 replied to josephine's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Josephine, I am with Lianna. It's time for pictures. We want to see how fabulous you look. Well, I am so happy today as yesterday the scale moved....DOWN! I have been stuck for a few weeks at 210. The last couple of days I paid particular attention to the Water intake. I think it must have been a combination of low water intake and the coffee. However, it seems I might be able to continue with the coffee intake! hurah! Hurah! I have to leave the house in a few minutes and I am going to try the drink from Starbuck's you suggested. I didn't know surgar free was an option. Does the sugar free refer to the syrup or something? And what is quad venti? I know venti. But what does quad refer to? One last thing. Please clarify what the flavoring is used for that you get from Walmart. Is this flavored water, flavoring for coffee or something similar to Crystal Light? I too have given up on eating on a dinner size plate. Everyone in the family just grabs the saucer now. If I am eating a chicken breast (the flat kind - size of hamburger bun) then I can't finish it. My husband doesn't know this but I am actively searching for smaller plate sizes. I read in a book with a title similar to "Why Japanese Women Don't Get Fat..", that they eat on smaller plates and individual serving dishes. I measured my plates and found the inside to be 9", whereas the recommended plate size was 7"! This means the inside of our plates are 7". Far too much space. Thanks for the tips. Get on that treadmill, keep moving! Congratulations on your weight loss. Lisa -
The date you were banded.---------December 12, 2005 Where you were banded (Country)----Acuna, Mexico Surgeon's Name------------------Dr. Jose Rodriguez Whether your band has Eroded or not.--- No problems

DeLarla, I can't tell you the number of times your posts have made me laugh. And true to your past you have me laughing again. I agree with you that the squeak wheel gets the oil. There isn't anyway I would take this bending over...ooops, I mean sitting down. Fair is fair. No matter what country we are in. I think Christy is really getting shafted on this one. Keep in mind, I was banded by Dr. Jose Rodriguez in Acuna, Mexico and have been pleased, but of course I haven't had any sort of complications. My experience overall was very pleasant, thanks in part to a wonderful patient coordinator. While Dr. Rodriguez performed the procedure, I only saw him for a few minutes. His patient coordinator, Diana Bradshaw, is who I remember the most. AT any rate, I havent' had any complications so of course I wouldn't have any complaints. But this thing happening to Christy is bad..bad...bad.

I want some muscle! No wonder those body builders look so much nicer than I do. I am printing this image and hanging on the refrigerator door. Lisa

Fantastic! What are you eating? Are you exercising? Please share. I have only lost 15 lbs since Dec. 12, 2005. Albeit I haven't been drinking as much Water as I should and fighting my addiction to Starbuck's coffee. In fact I started drinking one cup a day about 3 wks ago and that's when the weght loss stalled. At any rate GreatNews from you! Lisa -
What I don't understand is why he can't reinsert the band for her at a deep discount. He went back into her to remove it. My surgery was performed by Dr. Jose Rodriguez in Acuna, Mexico and I can tell you this is really really scary. I think it is unbelievable unfair for her to pay for a procedure that was not actually performed/delivered. The freakin' band is clearly off the right of her stomach. This is highway robbery! You would think he could at least offer to re-insert and have her only pay the cost of the band. I feel absolutely awful for her. It appears she got ripped off which was one of my biggest fears when I travelled across the border. Christy seems to be totally OK and accepting everything in stride, which I guess is a good thing. Just my .02 Lisa
