If I had known then what I know now about my DS...

I had the ds on 4/14/17. I feel great. I have lost a total of 41 pounds. 26 since my surgery. I still can't eat much and I am taking my vitamins. My bathroom issues haven't been a problem. Maybe because I'm not eating much. I have my labs done tomorrow. -
I'm one week from having my surgery. I'm down 23 pounds from my pre op diet to now (3 weeks) I am still sore but getting better each day. Going to see my primary doctor Thursday since she will be in a huge part of my journey. Follow-up with surgeon next week.

I worry just a little hair loss. Hopefully it won't be too bad. I appreciate your comment. What kind of vitamins do you take?

Mentor and Buddies needed!!

I baked 4 split chicken breast today. Topped with garlic and pepper. After dividing into 3 ounce portions. I have twelve meals. I froze some for next week. One 3 ounce portion filled me up. Hopefully, the next two weeks will fly by. I have my chicken, green vegetable, Greek yogurt, hard boiled eggs and protein shakes all on hand. I'm taking my vitamins and my juice plus chewables that my surgeon wants me to take. -
I've heard and read stories on both reasons. What ever surgery a person chooses, it's a big decision. The medical staff and Surgeon are the best people to give advise before surgery After surgery, I think the support groups advise will be priceless. I'm new to this. I'm learning more and more each day. God be will us all on our journey to good health and happiness.

I'm 55 years old. I'm in good health. My Surgeon is a specialist in this procedure. Often times the sleeve needs revised. This surgery is more efficient and will benefit me the best in the long run. After 40 years of yo-yo dieting. I'm ready to commit myself to a new lifestyle and to be a healthier me. I have no choice after this surgery. The success rate is high and the complications risk is worth the success rate.

I'm having the sleeve with ds and sips. Its a modified sleeve and ds.

I too have bmi of 40.7. I have no other medical qualifications for surgery. I have lost and regained weight for 40 years. My surgery date is March 14. I started my protein diet today. I hope beyond words that I do it correctly. I had my protein shake for breakfast. I am drinking plenty of water. Lunch will be green beans and small broiled piece of chicken. I am in the process of writing up my daily menu for the next two weeks. I could use a mentor as well. By the way, I live in Jonesboro GA -
My surgeon has me taking juiceplus beginning today. They too will be a daily requirement. Not the best tasting but could be a lot worse.

I am nervous about all the vitamin requirements. I know that it will be a lifetime commitment. I have a great nutritional adviser. I keep reading more and more about the experiences of people who have had this procedure. Some scare the devil out of me. What other forums are you reading?
-
Annie, it started off as the sleeve then my Surgeon asked if I wanted the sleeve plus. I choose the plus. It's the sleeve plus ds and sips. I am prepared for the vitamins. I am considering the patches when possible. I need to lose 120 pounds. I am ready to face the challenges ahead with exercise, eating habits and with all the vitamin requirements. I heard that the vitamins can be expensive but so we're all the sweets and chips I consumed. Just giving up soda was a Hugh accomplishment. What I need most is support and as much knowledge as possible. Recipes and advice is welcomed. This is new to me and even this 2 week protein diet is learning something new. I'm glad I enjoy premier protein shakes. I'd love to hear from others with suggestions.

You can read about the SIPS procedure, not all surgeons do this. It is said to solve bowel issues. I at least hope so. Im glad that is being done with my procedure.

Well I did get a new approval letter where my surgeon upgraded my surgery. I will be in the hospital two days. I start my protein diet today. My doctor says shake for breakfast and snack. Protein and green vegetable for lunch and dinner. Lots of water.

What vitamins and amount do you take daily?
