  1. Dr. Chin is a great surgeon and excellent at what he does...you wont see him much..he does a lot if surgeries. The staff at St. Bernadines is wonderful and they really are the ones that care for you during your stay.

    Here come the haters!

The only person who knows is my husband. I am almost 2 months out and 26 lbs. down. I have told my coworkers that I'm on low carb and they know that I have been going to the gym during lunch. I have a lunch meeting every other week at work and have become the master of playing with my food and hiding things on my plate. Nobody has questioned me. I have 2 co workers that had WLS one kept it off and the other didn't. I have overheard coworkers gossiping about the one that didn't. Luckily my family is out of state...they are all a size 2 and wouldn't understand. They have seen me yoyo for the last decade so being on a low carb diet when I see them in a few weeks won't be a big deal.
  3. I blended a can of turkey chili, it was great! Lasted several days.
  4. I suggest you purchase a small scale and start measuring. Fitness Pal is a great tool but it does no good unless you know how much you ate. the only way tracking will work is if you measure portions.

How fast can you return to work ?

I had surgery on a Friday and was back the following Thursday. I have a desk job so it was pretty easy. I was tired but took a nap in my car during lunch!

    How's everyone doing?!

I am now 17 days post op. Went back to work on day 7. A little fatigue some days but not having issues getting in Protein or Water. Aside from being able to eat less and mild incision pain this was so much easier than I anticipated. No buyers remorse at all. So far I'm down 12 lbs. I hope all of you are doing well post op and pre op...it will be over before you know it. Make sure to walk as much as you can in the hospital...it sucks getting up from the bed but once you get going you will be fine. I did laps around the nurses station between doses of pain meds If any of you will be at St. Bernadine in Riverside...they are awesome!!

    Waking Up

My husband dropped me off in the morning then had to attend to the kids. He came back while I was in recovery but I don't really remember. from there I was on my own and just fine. Lots of sleep and walking. He came back the next day to pick me up.

    whose ready?!

December 2nd date....2 weeks to go.................
  11. Thank you so much for your quick response. This is so helpful. I had heard that his schedule gets very booked but I wasn't sure how far out. I have an HMO so I have to wait for my medical group approval before his office will set a date.
  12. I'm also with Dr. Chin. I will find out my surgery date on Friday. Did the office give you any options on surgery dates or did they just tell you it was on the 30th?

If you have a Trader Joes near you, they sell Cauliflower rice in the frozen vegetable section.

    Low carb not working

Use fitness pal to track your carbs. You should be at about 20g carbs per day. Just the chili alone that you have listed is 30g of carbs.

Blue Shield of Ca six month diet

I have CA bcbs HMO and had to do my 6 month diet/visits with my PCP to obtain the referral for the Surgeon. My first visit counted as month 1 so it's really only 5 months. I have my last visit this month. From there she will provide the referral and I will move on to the surgeon who will do the additional testing and submission for the surgery approval.
