@@Djmohr, Yes I am aware of that fact. I am just hoping that my body will tell me when I eat something that I shouldn't have. I understand that it sounds strange, but it may be what keeps me from going backwards again. I agree that both are going to be hard work. And you are absolutely right, the best way to decide what is best for you is to do research and make an informed decision.

Whose waiting for their approval - Date?
Gordita81 replied to RNY-Gal's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So with the few hurdles that I had to get over, my preop has been moved to September 13. I will receive my date then! The surgeon's office said I am still looking at before the end of September! -
I am still preop, but I chose RNY because of the higher rate of weight loss. As strange as it may sound, I also believe that the dumping will be helpful. Knowing that I can get that sick will keep me from going back to any of my old habits.

@@KristenLe, my surgeon is Dr Vithianathan (University Surgical in Providence). Medical says that I am a candidate for a home Titration study. That will put my on an APAP instead of the CPAP which is fine. I am back on the preop schedule for 9/13 unless they can squeeze me in sooner. Surgery will be within 2 weeks of that!! I am back to being happy!! Sent from my SM-G530T1 using the BariatricPal App

sleep study was done at New England Pulmonary and Sleep Clinic in RI. I will be making phone calls tomorrow to figure this all out. Something just doesn't seem right at all. Sent from my SM-G530T1 using the BariatricPal App

Medical has denied my Titration study! Now I am worried that I will never get the surgery. Everything else has cleared. No CPAP measurements, anesthesiology says no surgery. Can this really be the end for me? ???? Sent from my SM-G530T1 using the BariatricPal App

Nicotine Testing
Gordita81 replied to TheStarvingMom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know my surgeon in RI does urine test and said that it will pick up anything within the last 2 months. Good luck to you. I hope everything works out for you. Sent from my SM-G530T1 using the BariatricPal App -
I understand that it's for safety reasons. I am not worried about being approved, just aggravated because it has been delayed. After 2 years of waiting and now I continue to wait. Sent from my SM-G530T1 using the BariatricPal App

My appointment is for 2 weeks from now (which is why preop was canceled). If medical approves it before that appointment, they will move my appointment up. Sent from my SM-G530T1 using the BariatricPal App

Our surgeon has us do nutrition and psych first, he submits for approval then does the rest. I guess just to be sure that we don't go through all that for nothing. I have no doubt that I will get cleared, it has just been delayed until I am fitted for the mask because anesthesia won't allow it until they have the settings. I just sucks that I did everything I could to ensure this was all done on time, I didn't want anymore delays, now this. Sent from my SM-G530T1 using the BariatricPal App

I am also on state medical in RI. They required 4 months with nut, BMI of 40 w/o comorbidities or 35 with. Also multiple previous documented failed Weight-loss attempts. This is my second time through the process. My first attempt was denied based on insufficient documented attempts. My BMI was 40 at the time and I am pre-diabetic. Being pre-diabetic is not considered a comorbidity. Now, on my 2nd attempt, I was approved. My BMI is now 44. Because each state offers there own medical plans, the requirements do vary. Good luck to you! Sent from my SM-G530T1 using the BariatricPal App

Since I am only in the beginning stages of this process, I am wondering if someone can please tell me what to expect. I am almost done all my testing and my preop appointment is on August 25. What should I expect to happen at the preop? Sent from my SM-G530T1 using the BariatricPal App

10 Months Post Op Update
Gordita81 replied to LoseItKacy's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
You are a major inspiration to me. I'm just starting my journey. I am at my HW now at 265 lbs. My surgeon recommends that I aim for 185. I want to get back to 130-140 range. I am not very athletic, actually, I am rather tired and sore all the time. I do plan to put my all into this and hope to look as good as you by next year! I guess my surgeon is a little backwards, I already have approval before all the testing. Glad to know that I am not the only one scared. I will let everyone know what happens at my appointment on the 25th. Sent from my SM-G530T1 using the BariatricPal App -
