Discussing Post-Op worries relayed to the patient by patient's parents
Vinasu replied to Gabriel29's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I only vomit when I stray off the plan: eat too much, eat too quickly, don't chew enough, eat cake. Otherwise, I feel great. It was the best thing I've done in a very long time. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App -
I live off salmon. I would be so sad if I couldn't eat it any more. My condolences. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App

Post op ladies- what's your smallest dress size after reaching your goal weight?
Vinasu replied to xoxococojay's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I'm a size 6 now, and still 18 pounds from my goal. I should end up at 4 or 2. But I'm only 5'3", so it's appropriate. At a size 6, I still have a spare tire. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App -
I eat regular, home cooked meals with my family. I just skip the carbs. If we're having spaghetti, I pour sauce over miracle noodles for myself. Roast chicken and mashed potatoes? I just make mashed cauliflower for everyone. I eat three meals a day, and my family eats the same. I just eat mindfully and eat less. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App

Organic protein powder
Vinasu replied to sassy_tiffanyga's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well, when I started, I had some protein powder that wasn't on the approved list. My nutritionist said to use it once a day, use premier protein once a day, and not to re-buy once it's gone. Ask your nutritionist, but it's likely nothing major. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App -
Osteoperosis as complication from RNY
Vinasu replied to RXRW's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
RNY is the most common type of gastric bypass. Google it for details. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App -
Best pescatarian meals post RNY?
Vinasu replied to Jess_eR's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I practically live off of sashimi, poke, and ceviche. At work, the cafeteria serves green salad and I get a skewer of grilled prawns. You can also Google the recipe for paleo salmon cakes. There's one that uses almond flour and it's excellent. I buy smoked salmon and whipped goat cheese (Trader Joe's has it) and make little rolls filled with fresh tarragon. Yum! Need some water ideas!
Vinasu replied to TheRevisionedVagabond's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I love Stash Raspberry Hibiscus tea. It's tart and flavorful and hits all the right notes for me. I drink it all day long. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App -
Question for the ladies:
Vinasu replied to shortyp79's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm an hourglass as well. I shrank, but it's been proportionate. Believe me, I haven't heard any complaints. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App -
I am really concerned about the affect of food ads on kids. They really influence my kids, and I have to talk to them about nutrition on a regular basis. I don't like ads, but that's business when targeting adults. I hate ads targeting kids, especially with junk. That is immoral. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App

Traveling (flying) with protein powder?
Vinasu replied to smaller's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I bring a Blender Bottle and carry extra powder in baby formula dispensers. http://www.target.com/p/munchkin-formula-dispenser/-/A-13991505 Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App -
Model appropriate behavior. Let them see how hard mom works at being healthy. They won't think this is easy--no one who understands what we go through can. Make balanced lunches for everyone. Eat together as a family. Teach them that there are sometimes foods and anytime foods, but make sure your healthy foods are tasty. Make them spaghetti, but use turkey meatballs and legume Pasta. Make them chicken wings, but bake them and buy skinless. Make them pb&j sandwiches with whole grain bread, PB2, and sugar- free jelly. Exercise together. My kids and I do Tae Kwon Do together. There are several families at the gym who do the same, and they are not all slim by any means. Find something you can all do: martial arts, swimming, skating. But stick to it. Your kids won't think worse of you. But you do need to teach them how not to end up like us. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App

The struggle is real
Vinasu replied to calisleever's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
The thing that helped me most lose pre-op weight was tracking my calories. I got myfitnesspal.com and wrote down everything. Then, slowly, I began to adjust my calories downward. It's a lot of weight to lose, but you can do it....also, I've never tried it, but maybe you should talk to your doctor about phentermine. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App -
I took my nice work clothes to Dress for Success. They provide low income women with professional clothes for interviews and jobs. It can make a huge difference in a woman's life, and they always have an urgent need for plus-sized things. Giving away the pieces I loved was hard, but it was a lot easier giving them to a good cause. My dad bought me a wool toggle coat, 3x, before he died. It killed me to get rid of it, but I take comfort knowing it'll go to great use and may change a woman's life. My favorite dress (a fancy Star Wars dress) I cut the top off of and put in a new waistband and cumberbund, so now I have a really cool skirt that fits. My tees I am using as night shirts. I had lightheadedness for the first three months. I think it's a combination of trauma from surgery and a very low calorie diet. It got better. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App

Losing inches no weight
Vinasu replied to sammysue5's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's crazy. This last month I only lost four pounds, but I went from a size 8 to a 4. I suspect my body is becoming more muscular. Weight isn't the only metric for success. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App -
I eat sashimi 2 or 3 times a week, starting when I was cleared for soft foods. It is one of my greatest culinary pleasures. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App

Well, obviously you shouldn't have gone near chips. But the fact is, you're going to have to deal with eating real food eventually, which means you're going to have to deal with your food issues. Plan your meals. Weigh and measure food. Keep healthy, delicious Snacks on hand (I love grape tomatoes and cucumbers). Talk to a therapist. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App

Mine didn't. They called me to set the date the same day I got insurance approval- -not before. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App

I told people that I'm on a medically- supervised diet and my nutritionist had given me directions to jump start weight loss. No one cares after that. At 3 weeks you'll be in soft foods, so order lots of Soups Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App
