    ABNORMAL EKG

I had an abnormal EKG. Turns out is fairly common in larger, busty women. The extra tissue and boobage (scientific term) interfere with proper readings. They did an echo, everything was great, and I was cleared with no issues. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App
  2. True story: Went to visit the in-laws in Eastern Europe. We arrive in the evening and we're told my mother-in-law has been cooking for two days to make this rare delicacy to welcome us. MIL is a really great cook, so I'm intrigued. We get to their place and she serves carp in aspic with peas and carrots floating around. It's slathered in a beet and horseradish mixture. Everyone was delighted. I was...not. I choked down enough to be polite and pushed the rest on to DH's plate. Moral of the story: you should not give anyone carp. Especially don't give people carp when they aren't expecting it. And never, ever give people carp smothered in beets and horseradish. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App

    Black poop

Drink kefir. It's a fantastic probiotic, better than yogurt. You can add sugar free syrups to make it a dessert. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App

    Snacks other than protein drink

Omg I love whisps but they are a slider for me! You've gotten tons of good suggestions here. Also search for the Protein mug cake here it's awesome. I'm also doing ricotta cheese mixed with vanilla protein powder pumpkin purée and pie spice! Tastes like pumpkin spice mousse! You reminded me! Ricotta with Trader Joe's tomato bruschetta. It's delicious, filling, and savory Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App

  10. Ask. I was at 44bmi for my first visit, but lost a lot on the mandatory diet. When I hit 40bmi, they submitted to the insurance company, and I was at 38bmi the day of surgery. They'll most likely work with you on this. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App
  11. The only thing I needed in the hospital was a toothbrush and toothpaste and my phone and charger. Everything else was provided. I didn't do a food funeral, but if you're going to, don't gorge. Count calories and limit yourself. Looking back, cutting myself off during my mandated 3-month diet was the best thing I could have done. It gave me a head start and the confidence to gain control over my eating before surgery. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App
  12. Night before surgery, they had me shower with antibacterial soap and then use one wipe for one minute on my abdomen and pannus. The next morning, I had to do the same thing again before heading to the hospital, where I had to do it again after changing into a gown. The only real instructions were not to rub too hard because some patients rubbed skin off(!) and had to postpone surgery until it healed. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App

I had surgery on Wednesday and went back to work Monday. I took three days off. I have a very sedentary job, and I slept every second I wasn't working for the first two weeks. It was absolutely doable, though. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App

    Sushi after surgery?

My nutritionist loves sashimi...and so do I. The only thing I can't do is squid or octopus. They always sit in my stomach like a rock until they decide to come back up again... Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App
  21. I was working at a college. I came in and all the screens in the registrars office were tuned to the news. Seconds after I entered, the first tower collapsed. I didn't really know what was happening. There was still no context. As the day went on, we set up tvs in all the corridors. One of the math professors, an amazing man who makes math software for the visually impaired, was from Iraq. He said to me, "This is going to be so bad for both of my countries." How right he was.... Oregon

@@emoji1990 It was pleasant...as pleasant as major surgery gets. The rooms at Legacy Good Sam are really nice and private. My brother said it was more like a Holiday Inn. The nurses and CNAs were awesome. I came in Wednesday morning and left Thursday afternoon. Dr. Patterson is very efficient. She's not warm and fuzzy, but I prefer a bit of distance. I want a brilliant doctor, not a new BFF. All in all, nine days out and I'm feeling great. I already went back to work, and I'm seven pounds down.
