  1. Are you doing this to be healthy? To live longer? Then cut the crap. If you're unwilling to do that, find professional help to figure out why you'd undergo surgery for no reason whatsoever.
  2. Yes. I drink normally and even chug water when working out. You'll be fine.

    Poo-Pourri

You can make it yourself. Google the recipe. It'll save you a ton of money.

    Scared of Surgery

RNY is safer than having your gallbladder removed, and far safer than morbid obesity. Life is risk, but you're running a risk if you don't have the surgery too.
  5. I lost feeling in my apron after a c-section. It took years, but feeling did come back. They must have severed a nerve.
  6. Knee high leather boots. Ones that zip all the way up.

    Transverse colon mass

It's not necessarily cancer, and if it is, colon cancer has very high survival rates- -greater than 90% at five years. No one can tell you what will happen (other than it'll almost certainly be surgically removed) because there are many things it could be. Wait for a diagnosis. It's good you're finding it now before you have symptoms. It's scary, but try to stay calm until you get a diagnosis. When my grandfather had colon cancer, the doctor told us that nearly all of his patients die of something else, years or decades after discovery. My grandfather died of COPD, completely unrelated and years later.

    Depressed

Honestly, you can have those things, just not in the quantities you had before...and you can't have it all at once. If I'm going to eat a piece of pizza that's 500 calories, I'm going to be extra good the rest of the week. However, my tiny stomach means I'm full after one piece. You don't have to be perfect, just 90%. You can have chips. Count out a portion and decrease your calories for the week accordingly.

    Tired [emoji42]

That's temporary. Now that I've lost weight, working out is much easier. Yesterday, my daughter went to the bus stop and forgot her phone. I ran all the way down the street to catch her, nearly 1/4 of a mile, with no effort. I wasn't winded. My knees didn't ache. I'm not a runner, and I've never been able to run any distance. It gets easier. I promise.

How long did you take off from work?

Surgery on a Wednesday. I worked from home on Friday and was back at the office Monday. I was a bit tired for the first two weeks, but then I was fine.
  11. You're too early out. Your body is still recovering. You will lose, and it will likely speed up a great deal. Weight loss in month 1 means nothing about the overall success of the surgery--it's an anomaly. Stick to the plan and in six months you'll know exactly what kind of weight loss you've got.
  12. No. I was a slim child until we moved to a new town and I was miserable. I ate my way to pudgy, and stayed that way through college. My weight fluctuated from a size 10 to 18 through my twenties. I lost down to a 6 right before I married. Then it just started to climb and climb. 10 pounds a year for more than a decade.
  13. I didn't tell anyone I don't live with. And no one has asked. They see me working out and eating less. Since most people assume anyone can lose weight that way, they just figure I'm doing what I should. Look, I didn't tell anyone about my hemorrhoids. Why would I share other private medical information?

    No Gum EVER?!

Straws are a comfort issue. If they don't bother you, they're fine. Gum is a safety thing. If you accidentally swallow it, it could get stuck in your small stomach and require surgery to remove.
  15. I work in an office, so wearing ill-fitting clothes is not an option. However, here the Salvation Army has everything 50% off every Wednesday. I got J.Crew pants for $4, a Marmot jacket for $6, and countless other pieces. I've been spending about $50 a month to maintain my wardrobe, and it's worth every penny. When I look good, I feel good. When I wear a knit, body-con dress and I know I look great you couldn't pay me to cheat. My advice: spend a little money and look good. Your self-esteem will thank you.

    Healthy lunch ideas

In a perfect world, we'd all eat home made, clean, fresh foods every day. But I have to leave for work at 5am. I get home to pick up my kids and start dinner. Then, we're out the door for Tae Kwon Do. We're home at 7:30 in time to do homework and practice piano, and I'm in bed at 9. P3 and frozen meals are what keep me from doing something stupid at lunch.

    Healthy lunch ideas

I eat a P3 pack and a bag of fresh veggies (mini peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers, etc) nearly every day at work. I also bring a container with 14 dry roasted almonds (100 calories). I also like Lean Cuisine Sweet Sriracha Beef. It's less than 200 calories and 17 grams of protein. There's another Lean Cuisine with similar numbers I don't like as well, a couple Healthy Choice steamers that are high protein, low carb, and Smart Ones eggs and sausage.
  18. Yes...maybe people are just too polite to tell me I stink, but I feel fairly odorless...I have never heard of the RNY Reek. In fact, I smell much better (to myself). Before, I could always smell my own sweat. Now I don't...
  19. Most doctors don't allow gummies because most gummies contain Vitamins but no minerals. Gummies are missing Iron and other nutrients. If you do take gummies, you'll need to take iron separately.
  20. I use Centrum Silver chewables, two a day. I like the flavor and texture, and they are very high in everything we need. I subscribe to them on Amazon. I also love Premier Protein (vanilla) and Nectar cookies and cream.
  21. Give it a couple of days and see if you drop. I can predict my period like clockwork now because I gain about two days before starting and lose about two days after. I'm not the only one, either. Maybe you're just in our hormone club.
  22. They work. But watch out for the calories! The best edibles are not bariatric-friendly. In my state, I have to eat three or four Cookies to really feel mellow (because of dosing laws. One good homemade cookie will do it) . That's a lot of calories and carbs. Try tinctures or oils.
  23. This is the one part of the program I didn't follow to the letter. My Dr. said to sleep upright a month, but I just couldn't. I wasn't sleeping at all. I went back to bed night 4.
  24. Stalls just happen. Gains, however, are water weight. I always gain 2-3 pounds before I start my period. Where are you in your cycle? It lasts a week for me and then I drop the additional pounds and more.

    Help me

When I had to lose weight pre-op, I had a shake for breakfast. For lunch, I would get Lean Cuisine Sweet Sriracha Beef (under 200 calories) and pour it over a whole bag of baby spinach like dressing. It really helps to bulk up the meal. Then, I ate a low- carb dinner. I lost 32 pounds before surgery. You can too!
