Gall bladder problems after surgery?
Vinasu replied to want2lose's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had problems with both my gall bladder and pancreas before surgery. My surgeon put me on ursidol for three months after surgery. However, all my digestive issues seem to have completely cleared up now. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App -
It was a couple of weeks for me. The problem was sitting- -jeans didn't come close to my lowest incision while standing, but they irritated it when sitting. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App

Right, and even if you're in a state where it's legal, employers can hold it against you. I live where it's legal and most employers don't care, but they still test certain professions, like healthcare and law enforcement. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App

If you're in a state where it's medically legal, go to a dispensary. They will help you get a card and teach you everything you need to know. I'm in Oregon, so I just pull into one of the million shops in town like I'm going to the grocery store (except one that cards all customers). If it's not legal at all, then I'm sorry. You'll probably have to know someone, and the high quality tinctures, lotions, and cartridges won't be available. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App

Yeah, the boobs go. I've gone from 44DD to 38C so far. And let me tell you, they look really sad about it!

How about you just don't do it? Look, chances are nothing would happen, but this is life- altering surgery. You are, ostensibly, doing this for better health. Don't you want to be as safe as possible? Don't you want to prove that you can follow the plan after surgery as well? Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App

Taking online classes while waiting for sergury date.
Vinasu replied to cyndi990's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would take it. If you don't have complications, you should have no problems. If you do have complications, talk to your professor immediately so it won't affect your grades. I had a baby in grad school, and she needed surgeries and additional care. These were not online classes, so I did miss some lectures and had to postpone the finals one semester because of surgery, but I worked really hard and managed a 4.0 throughout the program. Good luck! Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App -
It took me three or four days to get rid of the gas. I know it takes some people longer. Hang in there! The first two weeks are the hardest. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App

Describe your meals and exercise please
Vinasu replied to MommyB's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Protein shake for Breakfast. Salmon salad or poke or sashimi for lunch. Roast dark meat chicken with Brussels sprouts for dinner, as an example. I eat whatever my family is having without carbs. Emerald cocoa almonds 100-calorie snack pack for dessert. I take Tae Kwon Do four times a week and walk daily. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App -
I love Stash Tea raspberry hibiscus. It's fruity and tangy- -absolutely delicious. Also, hibiscus is supposed to be good for your blood pressure...I've never had a problem with mine so I guess it works! :-P ???? Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App

Understanding where the food goes?
Vinasu replied to Lufferly's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
In the beginning, you won't feel full at all. You won't feel hungry, either. You'll need to limit your volume. In the beginning, you'll only eat 1/4 cup at a time. Later, you'll gradually increase to about a cup per meal. You are not filling your intestines! When you eat dense Proteins, they will stay in the stomach for a long time. You will feel full for hours. Carbs will pass right through. I can eat 3oz. of meat. I don't handle beef well, but I do really well with seafood. I then have maybe 2oz. of side dishes (non- starchy vegetables). I feel as full after that as I did preop when I had a pub burger, fries, and pint. Measure all your food. It's the key to being safe and successful. You will feel full. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App -
Question for those with office type jobs
Vinasu replied to RJrocks's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I had surgery on Wednesday, took off Thursday. Fridays are company- wide work from home days, so I worked about half a day and half on Saturday. I was back at the office on Monday. Technically, I only took two days off. I was tired, but felt fine. However, I had no comorbidities and no complications. So it was a really easy surgery for me. Is it still one bite every 5 minutes?
Vinasu replied to kayelly's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
My nutritionist says 1 minute between bites, but I find that the more "challenging" the food (i.e. beef, calamari) the longer I need to take to make sure it stays down. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App -
I sure as heck see a difference! Congrats! Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App

My husband doesn't know my weight...at all
Vinasu replied to creatingthenewme's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've never told my husband my weight. But I do Celebrate milestones with him: 10 lbs lost, 50, onderland, normal BMI. So I'm sure he had a pretty good idea, but I'm so self-conscious about the actual numbers that I don't like to say them aloud. It also doesn't help that he is 140 pounds after 20 years together. I was at 44 BMI before surgery, and I lost 32 pounds two months before surgery doing what most people are telling you. 1) get a myfitnesspal.com account today. Log every single bite you take. Do not go over 800 calories in a day. 2) do not eat bread, Pasta, rice, potatoes, or sweets of any kind. Do not drink alcohol. 3) make sure you are getting 80+ grams of Protein every day. Have a Protein shake for Breakfast. Seafood is your friend. Shrimp, crab, scallops, fish, crawfish, etc. are all fantastic choices. 4) drink at least two liters of Water a day. Rinse out a Coke jug and fill it. Use that to measure your progress. Drink the entire thing every day. Drink more if you can. Add ice. If you can't do this now, you might need to reevaluate whether now is the right time for you to be having surgery, or if you should have therapy first. Surgery isn't going to magically change you. 1 wk, 1 day post op...I want to EAT, not drink
Vinasu replied to hsm71's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was dying for food the first two weeks also. Week two was the hardest part of the entire journey. Once I got to purees, though, everything eased up. Chewing is a major part of digestion, and your body wants to do it. When you can chew and get mouth feel back, it'll all get easier. I though I was starving week two. Turns out, I wasn't hungry at all. I just wanted to chew food and swallow it. That first mouthful of ricotta was amazing. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App -
What side is it on? Gall bladder pain is usually in the right side of your chest, moving toward the center. I've had gall bladder issues for years. It typically comes and goes. It's worse after a fatty meal, and vomiting almost always makes the pain go away. Of course, those were pre-op symptoms. They might be different post op. The surgery has been great for my marriage. My husband was always the healthy, active one. He and the kids would go skiing, hiking, fishing together on weekends, and I simply couldn't keep up. Now, though, we can do even more together. I'm even taking the kids out (we did a scavenger hunt this weekend, and a trampoline park last one) without him when he is working weekends. We are all much happier. He'll also been great about food. If he is craving junk food, he'll eat it for lunch at work. He doesn't bring it home. He also has been great at restaurants. We'll scour the menu for food I can eat, and then order one or two items and eat family- style with the kids. There is more than enough food on two plates to feed the four of us most of the time. I'm not saying we have the perfect marriage. He is an alcoholic and I have been very hormonal. But we're pretty much together forever. Weight loss did not add to the stressors already present. It has, though, changed a lot of our dynamics. As a bonus, sex is much better....... Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App
