    Laying The Groundwork

I was the same way. I had surgery on Wednesday started working from home Friday, and was back in the office Monday. It's possible if it's what you really want. 2. In short, yes it's normal. Your body is awash in hormones that had been stored in fat. It will get better. I bled for the first two months. Cried too. Then things started evening out. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App
  3. Count me in as another straw drinker. My doc is totally OK with it if it doesn't cause discomfort. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App

    STALLED FOR ONE MONTH!

Wait....how much milk were you drinking to get your liquid requirements? Were you drinking 60+ ounces a day of milk? If so, there's your problem. That's a lot of calories. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App
  5. My bypass took just over an hour. I, too, am short and fat (not as fast anymore! ), and my surgeon never mentioned not being able to do it laproscopically. It wasn't even a question. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App

    Questions for your surgeon

Make certain you have a thorough understanding of the diet and stages. I think that's probably where folks have the most difficulty in the beginning. Also, discuss exercise: how much, how strenuous, and when. Finally, ask everything you need to know about pain and nausea control. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App
  7. Depends on where the person is looking.... The higher your starting weight, the longer it takes people to notice. I started at 247, and no one noticed until about 215. It really showed in my face first. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App
  8. My nutritionist recommended the boxed soups at Trader Joe's, and I love them. They have a spicy black bean soup that feels hearty and is absolutely delicious. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App

    Coumadin and weight loss

Coumadin does not cause weight gain at all. Either it's a natural stall or a diet issue, or there's an underlying issue. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App
  10. I had some regret the first few days after surgery. Now, it's the best thing I've ever done for myself. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App

    Loosing super slow

Yes, it's normal. Your body loses in fits and starts. Often, when you aren't losing a lot of weight, it's because your body is redistributing the fat, and you're loading inches. Measure yourself. As long as you are following the program exactly, it will come off. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App

    I got my surgery date!

Don't over-buy! I bought broths and Soups and stuff for the hospital- -everything anyone suggested. I didn't need 95% of it. Lose as much as you can before surgery. You won't regret being closer to goal. Don't mess with food funerals. You will be able to eat again, but you probably won't feel the same. I no longer get intense pleasure from feeling full line I used to, so I can take a single bite of my husband's burger and be satisfied. Find exercise you like now. It doesn't have to be in a gym. Find something you'll enjoy and stick to and start now (but you'll probably need to take a 4-6 week break after surgery). Take this time to do your research so you won't be shocked when you stall, or you won't eat anything harmful. People ask the same half dozen questions every few days, so follow the boards religiously until surgery, and most of your questions will be answered before you know to ask. Weed.

I'm a huge fan of Ethos Muscle Melt (http://ethosinnovates.com/topicals.html). It's made from bud, not trim, and it's strong enough to help with my knee pain. Over a year ago, I tore my PCL severely. I was on crutches for weeks, and to this day I can't straighten or completely bend my right knee. My orthopedist says the only treatment is exercise- -I need to increase blood flow. However, I'm in tremendous pain whenever I do exercise with any impact. I used to be a runner, but likely will never run again. Muscle Melt keeps the pain at bay enough so I can exercise. I also really like Winterlife's Asian Elephant's Orange Tincture. Unlike the muscle cream, it does cause a high, but mostly it relieves pain or nausea and puts me to sleep. If I'm in a great deal of pain, I take a tablespoon or so sublingually, and within half an hour I'm relaxed and ready for bed. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App

Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Yes, at first, but the itch faded in a couple of days. There's a pretty big difference in the amount of exposure you got, though. 16. My daughter is allergic to adhesives. Now when she goes to camp, I pack non- adhesive bandages (coban) for her, but when she was little we'd occasionally get a well- meaning preschool teacher sticking a bandaid on her knee or elbow. It would leave a bandaid- shaped scar that would last a year. It wouldn't even tan. However, the scars did fade. I'm just letting you know that this might last a while, but it will get better. Sushi/Sashimi thoughts?

I practically live off sashimi and poke. I don't do rice either, but I love a side of seaweed salad. My nutritionist loves it- -says it's one of the best foods we can eat. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App

    Shame

Yes. I was ashamed of myself for letting it get so bad. I was ashamed that I couldn't just "stop eating." No one outside my immediate family knows about the surgery, but the surgery has really helped me deal with the shame. I look and feel normal. I am so happy and active now, but having done this I know beyond any doubt it would not have been possible without surgery. I have stopped reproaching myself for being unable to lose the weight before because now it's clear it simply wasn't possible. I might as well be ashamed that I can't fly. 40 bmi

Double check. My insurance went by my weight after my 3-month diet. I started at 44 BMI, but barely made the cutoff after three months at 40 BMI. So ask! Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App

    What to take to hospital

Honestly, I didn't need anything but my phone and charger. The hospital provided everything, down to the lip balm. Besides, I was pretty wasted on pain meds and didn't do anything but sleep. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App
  22. Honestly, my recovery was incredibly easy. One thing was, though, I over prepared. I bought tons of liquid and soft foods not realizing how little I'd be able to eat, and how few things I'd want to eat. It was a big waste of money. I also bought everything else on the lists: robe, slippers, simethicone, lip balm, etc. I didn't need any of it. It was all a waste. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App
