    Recommended calorie intake

My doctor said to get 800 calories per day during weight-loss. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App
  4. My mom and sister were both vehemently opposed. Mom had a employee who had surgery and ended up anemic. Sister, well, she's a nurse and I think she likes making health-care decisions for everyone. Neither one of them have had to deal with obesity like I have. My sister had always been tall and thin. When we were kids I actually had people ask me, "Don't you wish you looked like your sister?" So they never experienced the mental and physical issues I have dealt with daily as a fat person. My sister didn't speak to me for three months after surgery. She was livid. Eventually, she thawed. She still gets angry if I ever bring up surgery, so I don't. I feel better and more self- confident than ever. This is one of the best things I've ever done for myself. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App

    Here's a silly question

I was at 44 BMI at the first visit, but 38 BMI on surgery day. It didn't matter in the least. It's all about maintaining weight loss Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App
  11. I had almost no pain. I was unhappy on liquids, but once I made purees, cravings ceased. At work, I was really tired the first week. It didn't affect my performance, but I did go to bed as soon as I got home every day. By the second week, I was pretty energized. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App

    Do's and Don'ts for RNY

I had almost no pain. There was a little soreness in the abs, but I never opened the bottle of Oxy the gave me. I was quite tired for the first two weeks, and I was craving food until I hit purees. At about week 4, I was completely normal, physically and mentally. Annoying annoying

Yeah, one I had a friend complain to me because she had a 27" waist. "OMG! I'm huge!" It's a passive-aggressive version of the humble brag. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App

    Finally done

I couldn't for the life of me pass gas until about 2am on day 3. It was a torrent that woke me up. I have never felt so good..... ???? Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App
  16. Yep. I have Mirena, so I don't usually have periods at all. I bled for almost two months after surgery. It was just spotting, but it seemed like it would never end. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App

    Work related

I took three days off. My doctor said to go back when I wanted to, and I was ready. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App
  18. I was a runner until I tore my PCL...it was one of the primary motivations for surgery. However, I was really, really active. I worked with a trainer four tines a week and never missed a day of exercise. After surgery, I had to take six weeks off. During that time, I was only allowed walking (though at any speed and incline! ). After that, I was able to resume normal activities. It was a bit harder at first, mostly because after six weeks I'd gotten soft, but I was very quickly able to get back to where I was. You will too. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App
  19. I take regular Centrum chewables. My doc doesn't care, as long as they're not gummies. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App
  20. If there is a pho restaurant nearby, you can get delicious broth from them. Also, try miso. Yum! Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App

    Cigna... Denial question

I also had Cigna, but I was approved in less than a week...they only required a three month diet ahead of time. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App

    Ideas for non-meat proteins?

The trick with TVP is the sauce. It's great in things with strong flavors and not so great anywhere else. Try it in chili instead of meat, or try it in spaghetti sauce. Also, are you rehydrating it before using it? Pour boiling Water over it and let it sit for ten minutes before draining it and using it. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App

    Social Media

Nope. No one not living in my house knows. My family has been very judgemental about my weight my entire life. Living with them caused a ton of my weight and self esteem issues, and I don't need their input. I work in a very appearance- oriented industry (media), and everyone at work talks about fay people. I don't have anything to share with them, either. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App
