My husband is questioning my decision
Vinasu replied to Dawn E Dorsey's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Your husband is scared of change and scared for you. However, in this case change is good. Not being able to eat like we used to is good. Having to prepare healthier meals at home is good...my kids don't need to be exposed to disordered eating. They need to have healthy behaviors modeled. You're not doing this to yourself. You're doing it for yourself. My entire family is better off because I had surgery. They are all healthier and happier. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App -
Little Bill is right. I gain a pound or two around menstruation and then I level out for a few days. However, right after it drops. Don't compare your loss to anyone else's. No one can run this marathon for you, and we're all starting from different places with different obstacles. If you stick to the plan, though, you will be successful. Something you wish you knew prior to bypass surgery that you know now?

I second this. My mom found these on sale and bought one of each flavor for me...and the the rest of the family just inhaled them. They are soft, tasty, and a great way to mix up the diet. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App

Something you wish you knew prior to bypass surgery that you know now?
Vinasu replied to erica2185's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
1) I got a surprise $3k bill from the anesthesiologist, even after specifically asking to know all charges ahead of time. 2) I really enjoy pooping since I get to do it so rarely. I never knew what a huge part of my life poop would become. 3) This process has been so pleasant and easy. I had no complications, no food issues, no illnesses. I was back at work the Monday after surgery. I feel fantastic in ways I never would have expected: physically, mentally, socially. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App -
Yeah. I had a $3k anesthesiologist bill in the mail. I thought I had been so careful with all of it. I'm really, really displeased. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App

Nope. They gave me dilaudid the first few hours after waking up, and that was it. I had a prescription for Oxy, but I didn't take any. However, I did have a pain pump after my c-section, and it was marvelous. 2 thumbs up. Would try again. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App

My informational session was February 11. I had surgery after a mandatory 3-month diet, on August 10. It took a week for my insurance company to approve it, and surgery was a week after that. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App

I've been going down a size per month. Heck, size 16 only lasted three weeks. I buy from the Salvation Army on 50% off days. There are some new clothes I'd love to buy, but I'm holding off until my weight stabilizes. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App

Question About the Whole BMI Thing and Insurance
Vinasu replied to Myaiku_Kuraitani's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
They went by my weight after the three-month weight loss period. I barely scraped by. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App -
Corn flakes are straight up carbs. Avoid them if at all possible. They are not setting you up for success. I mashed the fish with a fork and chewed well. You can also look up a recipe for Greek yogurt "mayonnaise" that will help it go down smoother. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App

No protein until 3 weeks out?
Vinasu replied to Townsend143's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I started in the hospital 6 hours after surgery. I had to be able to get down 4 ounces per hour before release. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App -
I need to lose weight before my sergury
Vinasu replied to cyndi990's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had to lose too, and I just followed the post-op diet the best I could. 1000 calories, Protein first, no carbs. I needed to lose 10 pounds, but I lost 35...in six weeks. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App -

5-7 minutes between bites? Is it true?
Vinasu replied to macon_me's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I need to wait a couple of minutes between bites of beef or calamari, but don't need to wait at all between bites of soft foods that are well chewed. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App -
Well, after surgery I couldn't pee on my own so it most definitely wasn't optional. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App

Frustrated over short workouts
Vinasu replied to show1980's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It is fast to start working out hard- core. After surgery, I find myself a lot more sensitive to blood sugar. I was having issues with lightheadedness while working out, and my surgeon told me to eat a few minutes before. It really seems to help. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App -

How do you break the habit?
Vinasu replied to JaneDarcy's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
The biggest thing that changed me was tracking food. I just started tracking everything I ate pre-op in Myfitnesspal and it was shocking. I had no idea I was eating that much! Just by tracking I changed so much. I started thinking about everything that goes in my mouth. I started planning: if I eat this now, what about dinner? Tracking my calories has been a total game-changer, before and after surgery. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App -
Next time, may I suggest a small sauce pan with Water and a dash of salt and vinegar? Bring to a gentle boil and crack the egg in a separate bowl. Gently pour the egg into the water. When it's done, fish it out with a slotted spoon. It takes three minutes and the cleanup is far more pleasant ???? Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App

Terrified of surgery.
Vinasu replied to TheSunWillShine's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Honestly, I have yet to see someone say they regret the surgery because of the excess skin. I sure don't. I may not have a perfect bikini bod, but I look damned good fully clothed, and I can do things I never dreamed of when morbidly obese. Yesterday, I went cross country skiing for the first time ever. I and my saggy skin had an amazing time. Talk to a therapist about this. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App -
