Duh...How to decide whom to tell?
Vinasu replied to WLSResources/ClothingExch's topic in Rants & Raves
Yeah, I'm here every day because I want to discuss it with people who don't judge me. There is no need for me to share it with folks who would. No one who doesn't live in my house knows. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App -
I love it. Do you like Korean food? One of my favorites is bibimbap. I make it with cauliflower regularly. The strong flavor of the sauce covers the cauliflower taste. I also love it with Thai and Indian food. I feel like I'm getting the whole curry experience with no carbs. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App

The Ongoing Saga of my Dad & my Surgery
Vinasu replied to Anna Nim's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well, he's cherry picking the things he wants to see. The fact is, it's a very safe surgery. Tablespoons of bland foods lasts a month...and they weren't particularly bland. Willpower doesn't work. Look at him, nod, and then do your thing. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App -
My NP said the expensive bariatric Vitamins are a waste of money. She likes Centrum chewables, and that's what I take- -two a day. But she says take whatever you can best tolerate. The best plan is one you'll stick with. I get my D3, calcium, and B12 from costco. I spend about $10 a month on vitamins. I just got my labs back yesterday, and all my numbers are great. How has your family changed since your WLS?
Vinasu replied to NWJill's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I've got two kids, 11 and 7. I have always gone out of my way to make certain they get healthy foods and healthy portion sizes. It was hell for me growing up fat, and I do not want the same for them. Therfore, our diet overall did not really change. I cut out carbs from dinner, but they have them Breakfast and lunch (which I make for them). I've always told my kids they must participate in a sport. I don't care which, but they must be active. Both of them do Tae Kwon Do and love it, so since I was always at the dojang with them, I joined up. I love it, and they love having me in class. When we go out to eat, my husband and I look for things we can split. He changes his order to accommodate me, and I really appreciate it. We go out a lot more for sushi than we used to because sashimi is always a great choice for me. I hate coffee and licorice, so now when someone brings home a treat, it's mocha or tiramisu or something else I won't touch. Mostly, though, when they need something special, my husband will drive them to the frozen yogurt shop or the patisserie. They're careful not to bring temptation into the house. My husband and kids used to go out a lot without me. Now, I'm always with them. This winter we've gone skiing, to the trampoline park, hiking, ice skating, and biking. Last year, I couldn't have done any of those things. My family is so happy that I'm a full participant in their lives now. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App -
Favorite Purée foods?
Vinasu replied to Moon Princess's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I ate pate, low-fat goat cheese, bruschetta, eggplant spread, hummus, and more. I was so happy to be off liquids that I only wanted delicious things. costco also carries these Beans in the refrigerated section that were a lifesaver. They are fresh, not canned, organic, and come in multiple delicious flavors. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App -
I love Premier Protein and Syntrax (their Cookies and cream is yum!) Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App

Has anyone looked at the money they have saved post op?
Vinasu replied to mbuczkowski's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm saving quite a bit in restaurant bills. Now, when I go out, I split a plate with my husband or kids. I love the sushi train. For $6 I get 3 ounces of salmon sashimi. Also, my bills for craft beer plummeted (I live walking distance from a growler shop--I do miss that). I bought and cooked healthy food before (just too much of it), so my costs didn't go up. I spend about $75 a month in thrift stores to keep myself clothed...some sizes I only wore for a couple of weeks. I probably break even overall. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App -
Five days after submitting, my surgeon's office called me. They scheduled the surgery for two weeks after that. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App

I was the same way. Believe me, one you start solids, you'll feel it. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App -
Well, my plan, and most, require strictly tracking Protein and calories. I believe this has made me successful. I can eat virtually anything I want now. If I weren't strictly counting calories, I absolutely would be overeating again. Tracking makes me accountable. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App

You have to communicate with your boss why on fmla
Vinasu replied to lavette43's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Under FMLA, you do not need to disclose protected health information. Read this article: https://www.troutmansanders.com/common-misunderstandings-about-medical-leaves-of-absence-12-12-2012/ Telling them you are have surgery, and bringing in documentation from your doctor should be sufficient. For the first month, I didn't care about food, so it didn't matter. Now, I only cook what I can eat. Healthy meals for all! My husband often goes out to eat with his work team, so if he wants a splurge he can do it then. For dinner, we're all having mashed cauliflower and grilled salmon. Where is she located? Sent from my LG-D851 using the BariatricPal App Alana Chock is in Everett at Northwest Weight Loss SurgeryThanks, I'm in Vancouver. I'm looking for someone a bit closer. Sent from my LG-D851 using the BariatricPal App Vancouver, WA? I'm in Portland, but my insurance only has in-network surgeons in Seattle/Everett so I have to travel. I've heard many Portlanders see Dr. Emma Patterson. My insurance doesn't pay to her though.Emma Patterson was my surgeon. I have been so very happy with my surgery--little pain, quick recovery, no complications. I am really pleased. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App

When I was in grad school, I was really poor...and hungry. One week, I had nothing to eat but a bag of peanuts and one of raisins. I portioned them out every day. Mostly, I ate Beans and rice, nearly every day. One day, one of the departments was having a reception and I snuck in and grabbed a plate with a sandwich and a handful of chips. I went outside to eat on the bench. I swear, I only looked away for a second, but it was long enough. A damned squirrel jumped up, grabbed my sandwich, knocked my chips off, and ran. I cussed the little beast, but he ran up the tree and ate my sandwich while I watched. Thus, I hate squirrels. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App

You're very early out. Your body is still coping with the liquids from surgery, not to mention the trauma. If you're still not losing in a month, then you might have an issue. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App
