Ladies I need your advice!
Vinasu replied to Chelsdkunk5894's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I second Mirena. You never have to think about it, and it stops periods. I love mine so much. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App -
The higher your start weight, the faster it comes off. It'll stabilize soon. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App

Calcium carbonate or citrate?
Vinasu replied to PinkAsh!'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Calcium carbonate requires acid to break down into a digestible form. After surgery, you don't produce enough acid. That's why you need citrate. The carbonate is just exiting the other end. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App -
I use Centrum chewable as well. Two a day. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App

I lived on those soups! They're some of my nutritionist's favorites. The black bean and creamy tomato are to die for. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App

Support from family and friends
Vinasu replied to roxy53's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My mom and sister were both really opposed. Even now, months later, they are unhappy about it and a bit passive-aggressive. I can't discuss it at all with them. If they go out and get something to eat, they'll bring everyone back something except me saying, "Well, we don't know what you can eat." It can be rough. However, I'm 85 pounds down, no longer obese, and feeling great. I'll take a few barbs over constant pain any day. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App -
You're in Salem? I was there last week! I was doing a review of the Enlightened Theatrics performance at The Grand. They're a very good company. We should absolutely do something! We could do my place or a restaurant or somewhere else! Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App

SMH... Well, that's one interpretation. Good luck to you. -
Who is choosing to keep surgery a secret?
Vinasu replied to Kila Rass's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You might day hernia or ulcer instead in case you need your gallbladder out later. It's common after surgery... Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App -
Food funeral ????? ???? ???? ????
Vinasu replied to Kila Rass's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No food funeral. I lost 30 pounds pre-op and am so glad I did. That puts me 30 pounds closer to goal and still in the honeymoon phase. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App -
Like many here, I worked the day before surgery, had it on Wednesday, worked from home on Friday, and was back in the office Monday. I was a bit tired, but completely able to function. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App

Knee surgeries and pain before the sleeve
Vinasu replied to mcg2074's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Not miniscus, but I tore my PCL. just six months ago I couldn't straighten my leg or bend it all the way. I couldn't walk down stairs without a handrail. I was always in pain. Now, 85 pounds down, I only have pain after intense exercise. This surgery saved my mobility. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App -
It was a great party. If you're ever in the Portland, OR area, PM me and I'll give you tour of the best we've got. A little Olympia Provisions Pork and Pistachio Pate and Rogue Creameries Bleu will rock your world!

Tired of hearing I don't need surgery!
Vinasu replied to Dknal2's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm glad to hear you're doing well. I've been thinking about you since your pre-surgery posts. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App -
On Saturday, I had a few friends over for "local" night. I bought local wines, fresh cheeses, and local charcuterie. I made a blackberry tart with berries I picked myself this summer. I ate, I drank, I had a great time. The food was amazing, and I didn't go over 900 calories. Surgery made me realize how much I ate was just "filler". It was stuff I ate because it was there and it was OK. Now, I eat only the best. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App

My kids both go to Tae Kwon Do, so when I was looking into exercise, they let me join the class for only $25 a month--that's 16 hour-long sessions. It was worth it for them to keep my kids in. It's so much fun! Can you make a deal with someone? Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App

For the first few days, my doctor had me drinking one ounce every fifteen minutes I was awake. By day 5, I was able to get all my liquids and Protein in with no problem. Slow and steady wins this race. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App

I did and absolutely don't regret it. But I'm also in a position where taking supplements for the rest of my life is not an issue. I look and feel great. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App

They gave me a book about the surgery and set up calls with the anesthesiologist and the hospital. I got antibacterial wipes for surgery prep, reminders about the diet and they asked about my post-surgery liquid diet preparations and gave me Protein samples. They also double- checked my Vitamins. Two weeks out and gained 7 lbs
Vinasu replied to tysleeves's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I gain a couple during that time of the month, and I quit losing for a week, but the good news is the week after it drops quickly. It's a pattern, and it's hard in the beginning, but now I anticipate getting on the scale afterwards because I can drop 2-3 pounds a day. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App -
Where do you find the Centrum chewables? I've been starting to look at my local stores, I couldn't find any chewables. I can find the calcium chews and B12 easily. My Dr doesn't recommend any brand but they said no gummies and no flintstones due to sugar content. They're at Walmart. If you can't find them on the shelves, you can order them ship to store. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Centrum-Multivitamin-Multimineral-Supplement-Orange-flavored-Centrum-Chewables-100-ct/10417504 or https://www.walmart.com/ip/Centrum-Multivitamin-Multimineral-Supplement-Citrus-Berry-flavored-Centrum-Silver-Chewables-60-ct/10417490 Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App

I concur. I had almost no pain and the only nausea I have felt is after eating crunchy raw veggies (...repeatedly--never said I was bright, but I am persistent). I had one really bad bout of constipation, but I got through it and now I monitor it constantly to make sure I keep it under control. I am very, very happy I choose RNY.
