  1. I use a trainer who works privately, not for a gym, and she is amazing! She had her masters degree in exercise physiology, and she comes to you. She does boot camps for more advanced students, but many of her clients are disabled, geriatric, or obese. When I started working with her, I couldn't do a single sit up. Now, I can do 200. The right trainer is worth her weight in gold. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App

    No one told me!

My life revolves around poop ???? I wish I could say it gets better, but if I don't watch my out-go religiously, I pay for it for an entire week. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App

I'm completely addicted to Stash Tea Raspberry Hibiscus. It's so fruity with a sour zing! I drink a gallon every day. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App
  4. My surgeon wants me to keep it at 800 calories during the weight loss phase. I'm averaging 700-850 per day. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App

    Sushi: Yay or Nay?

It might be the calamari. Fish goes down great, but calamari, octopus, and clams all make me sick. I think I can't chew them small enough... Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App

    All things cheese

I adore cheese! I buy tiny packages of very expensive cheeses and savor them. And I. Do. Not. Share. Cheese! Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App
  7. I have 6 complete sets and some extras of workout clothes in 2x and 1x. One shirt still has tags (my mom bought it and I don't wear sleeveless anything....). They are in great condition. I'm giving away the outfit I ran my first 5K in! Anyway, I want them to go to someone who will use them. I'm happy to share with anyone who can come pick them up. I'm in Happy Valley near Clackamas Sunnyside Kaiser. PM me!!!!!

    Smoking Marijuana Preop

THC is not a problem here at all (Oregon), but my NP did say no smoking and no edibles. Tinctures, oils, and the like are fine, though. However, she does not allow pot, alcohol, or tobacco within three days before surgery. I take tincture sublingually for pain whenever I need it....which is less and less as I lose weight and the stress on my joints eases. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App

    TMI Question

RNY here, but mine were bright yellow for the first two months. Surgeon said it would darken a bit after I ate more solid foods, and she was right. It's no longer yellow, but it's never been as dark as before surgery. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App

    Favorite flavor drops?

OK, so maybe I'm a bit juvenile, but I like Kool-aid drops. They taste better to me than Mio, and plus I get a blast from my childhood. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App
  13. I don't have answers, but I'd like to let you know that my plantar fasciitis completely resolved within six months after surgery. So stick to your plan. It's worth it! Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App

    Buyers Remorse?

Patients with the surgery are much more likely to maintain loss. Surgery is about minimizing regain. "The only weight loss method that seems to avoid metabolic pitfalls is gastric bypass surgery, Hall said. People who undergo Roux-en-Y gastric bypass surgery experience a similar dip in metabolic rate along with massive weight loss at the six month point, but after one year they have the expected metabolic rate for their size...it may be that there is something special about bariatric surgery, resetting some set point in the body to not resist the weight loss" (https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/6-years-after-the-biggest-loser-metabolism-is-slower-and-weight-is-back-up/) Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App
  15. One more vote for Fat Doctor. It's real about the benefits and the risks. One of the patients never wakes up from the procedure????. Additionally, it's got the best videos of the surgery itself. I learned more about what the surgery actually looks like by watching that show than all of the doctors' charts put together. I'm in Oregon. Just about every single adult I know takes Vitamin D. I was deficient as well, and surgery proceeded as scheduled. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App

    Feeling Pretty Low

You've already made the first step. Now, start logging your food. That will bring you back to basics and help you figure out how to rebalance your diet. Also, check Dollar Tree. They sell sugar-free lemon, caramel, and chocolate hard candies that are pretty tasty. When my family is eating dessert, I grab one of those. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App

Me too. Surgery Wednesday. Worked from home Friday. At the office Monday morning. But I'm an editor, so I am pretty darn sedentary. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App
  20. C-section was way worse...maybe because I went into it after 24 hours of labor. Anyway, I had a much harder time after both my c-sections than after my RNY. The day after my second c-section, I was shaking when I got into the car from the wheelchair. The day after RNY, I didn't even use a wheelchair. I walked myself to the parking garage and could have taken the train home if need be. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App

  22. I've always been "healthy fat." I worked out regularly, was really active. Last September, I slipped and fell to my knees. The fall tore my PCL in my right knee. It was excruciating. The orthopedist told me that there wasn't really anything they could do. However, I'd probably heal better if I lost weight. By the time January rolled around, I had also developed plantar fasciitis in my left foot. One evening, I was going downstairs to go to bed, and it was agonizing. I was clutching the banister and making baby steps. It took me several minutes to get down a single flight of steps. I knew then that I could not continue. If my mobility was this compromised at age 43, how could I expect to live 20 or 30 more years? I signed up for the next info session at my surgeon's that night. I'm currently 90 pounds down. My plantar fasciitis has resolved itself, and though I can't completely straighten or bend my right leg, I'm not in pain and I gain more mobility every week. My Dr.won't even do the band. I'm 90 pounds down from bypass, and my face looks great. The rest of me looks like a shar pei, but I look amazing fully clothed. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App
