@@Colleenslife I wasn't ashamed to tell either, even though there was zero support pre-surgery. Post-surgery has been a complete turn around. When I went to Mexico, I made a whatsapp group of everyone I told and kept them updated on everything. It's amazing to see how involved they are in my success now since they really understand the after surgery process. I don't have friends inviting me out to eat, because they know right now it would be too much temptation for me. I also don't have a problem visiting friends - they are so cute - they make sure the house doesn't smell like food for my benefit! I think since I involved them they all feel like they are part of my success. If you've done your research, talked to other sleevers, drs, you know, mentally prepared for the surgery, nothing anyone says will steer you the other way. My mom is going to get it done now. Even though she qualifies under medicare to have it done here inFlorida, she's going to Dr. Ortiz. She went with me when I got the surgery, and we all agree he's the best/ most experienced in the world. (My surgery took 15 minutes, zero complications, no drain, no catheter!) Explore your options, but rest assured if you end up in Mexico with Dr. Ortiz, you've ended up with the best. The other really nice thing was how quickly you could schedule the surgery. I called at the end of June and was sleeved and home by July 26th. That was a big deal to me. I can't imagine a 6 month waiting period! This is the best thing I've ever done for myself and it sounds like it will be for you too. Good luck! Keep us updated! Xoxo Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Water vs Fluids?
LowBMISleever replied to LowBMISleever's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You know, come to think of it, maybe all the Vitamins are why I can't sleep. My pre surgery life consisted of 3 cups of coffee and as many diet cokes as I could down. I mean it's great that I'm living the caffeine-free life now, but I figured without the caff I'd sleep like a baby. Could the vitamins be giving me all this energy? Water vs Fluids?

@@Christinamo7 Between the bariatric Vitamins, vitamins in the Protein shakes, and vitamins in the Water, I swear I'm drowning in vitamins! I'm looking forward to getting my blood work done to see where I stand. I'm definitely getting more vitamins in by about 500% than in my pre surgery diet! Ugh that's rough. Have you tried the pouch reset diet? You do a test to see how much cottage cheese your pouch allows then measure what you took out of the container with Water. Based on the amount of water in there, you can determine if your pouch has stretched or not. Then you go on the re-set diet. I've heard this mentioned a lot for people in your shoes. http://www.bariatricfoodie.com/the-5-day-pouch-test-cottage-cheese/ Like everyone says, back to basics. Protein first, Vitamins and water. It's really hard to do this without the support of the people closest to you and it's so easy to be tempted. I've been depressed as well, and what's lifting my spirits is controlling my diet using this tool and seeing the pounds go down. Do you have the time to plan your meals for the next day? It sounds like you're not the one controlling your diet, and I bet if you meal planned for the next day, you wouldn't get stuck with only bad choices. Preparation is the key to success. I know it can be hard to find the motivation to meal prep or exercise, but i think a big source of relieving depression is finding control of your life. Can you talk to your husband/parents about how their behavior is affecting you? I'm so sorry you're going through this. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Hi everyone! I know that we can eventually have oysters and sashimi, but I'm wondering if they're acceptable options on the soft foods plan? And, if so, if anyone tried them & what their sleeve's reaction was. These are my two favorite foods, so I want to reintroduce them successfully! I am only 10 days out from surgery, but I'm SO excited to eat real food that I'm meal planning now to kill some post-surgery, recovery boredom. Thanks!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Late night head hunger

Me too. I just keep "eating" - hot chicken broth for the salty craving, then SF Jello, SF popsicle, and right before bed I have 3oz of L&F yogurt. It helps. Not sure I'll ever break the habit. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

My dr had us start on day 7. You should ask your dr/NUT what your specific plan calls for, because it seems like everyone's team does it slightly differently. Hope you're feeling well! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

So, my program says eat whatever you want besides high carb/high fat food/high sugar as of day 40 (no Pasta, bread, rice, alcohol, soda, etc). @@smg @@4MRB4PHOTO To clarify, you are recommending that I should wait longer than the 40 days to reintroduce these seafoods (besides soft sashimi, everyone seems to agree that's okay)? I'm excited, but I don't want to push it. I can see how escargot might be too rubbery to introduce so early. It seems like oysters and crab would be a fine consistency? Or should I give it until 3 months? 10 Months Post Op Update

I'm also 5'6" and have weighed between 126 and 180 my whole life. I always looked BEST as a toned 145. Muscle looks hotter than skinny you look awesome! I'm 163 12 days post up, goal is to get to 130 quickly with just diet and cardio, then build sexy muscles hitting the weights hard, which should leave me at 145. My point js, you look awesome - I wouldn't worry about the number on the scale, just keep increasing muscle mass. You're an inspiration!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
I'm only 12 days out, so I'm probably not a lot of help. But I can tell you that my family is awful about my surgery. Bacon and sausage in the morning. Ordering pizza. Surgeon just tried to talk me out of balloon
LowBMISleever replied to anewmee's topic in Gastric Balloon Forum
I wanted the balloon too, because I was only 29 BMI. (I'm 5'6" started at 180.) I ended up getting sleeved in Mexico because I was told my every dr I spoke to that as soon as that balloon came out, I'd eat myself right back up, possibly plus some. I'm 31 and have gained and lost the same 45 pounds many, many times because I'm a binge eater. The surgeon told me that once you gain 30 pounds, only 10% of people can diet their way back down and maintain without surgical help. For me, the point of surgery was a longterm commitment to myself to keep the weight off, forever. I was sleeved 7/22 and am down to 163. 150 is my dr's goal ( for healthy bmi). 130 is my goal (for vanity). I was happy with this decision, because, I promise you that if I had a balloon inside of me making me feel how I feel right now, and someone took it out 3 months from now, there is NO WAY I wouldn't go on a binge. Now, I never can. All that being said, lots of people have more willpower than I do and could perhaps be successful without surgery! Good luck! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

Getting in the pool?
LowBMISleever replied to Jeff711's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon said 3 weeks. I think they want to make sure your incision is completely closed, otherwise, as others said, bacteria could find its way in there. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
