    Goal weight

5'6" dr's goal is 150, but I know I look best 135-140. My goal is 128 because I want to have an allowance to gain a few pounds during maintenance, as a little weight gain sounds inevitable from what everyone says. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    5 days post op

I was starving every day the first 2 weeks post op. It gets better when you get to pureed. Hang in there! Stick to your dr's plan. My plan might not be the same as yours, but I wasn't allowed pureed food until day 15. I drank Water, chicken broth, watered down tomato soup, Protein shakes, ate SF Jello & SF popsicles to quiet my hunger. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Making Excuses

I think that's a good idea. I've been so emotional since this surgery. I hope I don't cry if I decide to fess up. I think I should've just said no. I know I'm not physically ready for a dinner date, but I might not be emotionally ready to dare yet either. This is quite the tricky journey! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Today. Was. Rough.

I LOVE this thread! @@madisunshine1 you're a rock star! You're going to be so successful with your surgery! I'm 3 weeks post op, and I feel like if we can get through these first 12 weeks without giving in to cravings or outside pressures, we can do ANYTHING. Alcohol.

Enjoy your alcohol. It definitely makes a ton of sense for morbidly obese adults trying to lose weight to drink empty calories that additionally impairs their judgement. cheers! I liked this app because everyone was so supportive pre-op and answered my questions honestly. Not sure I belong here anymore. I understand why the veterans don't stay. @@ShelterDog64 My final thought, we have all allowed ourselves to eat and drink ourselves obese - it's gluttony and addiction. That's why we are here. We deserve to be scolded when we go off plan, just like anyone else with an addiction would be scolded for going back to their drug of choice (mine is Pasta & wine). I understand that YOU are not going off plan for YOUR program. My comment was for the OP, but I don't take anything I said back. If it offends you that alcoholic beverages are empty calories that cause weight gain, then there's not a lot I can say. It's factual information. On a side note, I rescue dogs and your name implies you do too. I support that Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Alcohol.

I'm super confused...didn't we just have 80% of an organ removed to lose weight? That is a DRASTIC surgery and now, only weeks out, we're doing everything we can to cheat? I don't get it. Perhaps there should be a new special interest section called "cheating post-op" where people who intend to indulge in candy bars and champagne can discuss these things. As a 3 week out newbie, this thread is counterintuitive to the process and honestly harmful. I'm going to a concert in a week, and now that I've read this I'm more likely to indulge in a drink because this thread says it's okay. I'm not going to because I know it's not on my plan. But man. I'm ready to start a thread asking if anyone has experience 4 weeks out with pop-rocks and coke. This just is not conducive to success for all the members here. I'm getting to be the bariatricpal b***h... I'm sorry. But come on. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  17. Sorry to be defensive, but I'm fresh from surgery and from defending myself against my friends and family naysayers. A little tired of hearing it. Everyone's entitled to their own opinion, but I think the bodily risk, extensive research, financial investment, lifetime commitment and exhaustive formerly failed diet methods that anyone puts into this surgery should really absolve them of negativity from others, MOST ESPECIALLY those who have had the surgery. And to those defending other people's opinions on this, I say to you, these aren't opinions, they're judgements. Isn't everyone here sick of being judged for being too big? Or years post op, too small? How about we support each other instead of judge. That being said, when someone 3 weeks post-op wants to know if cheeze-its are a good idea, duhhhhh OF COURSE they AREN'T!!! But that's not judging or opinion, that's simply fact and good advice. :::drops mike::: Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Weight loss ticker

Sorry this question is kind of for IT help lol...hopefully I'm not the only one! How do I get the weight loss ticker on my profile/edit my profile in any way? I want to add information. Newbie here with a question on timing

I'm on vacation right now...3 weeks out and having a blast! work out regimen

The elliptical machine at the gym is low impact but can burn more calories than walking. That's a good start. The other option is interval training on the treadmill. Walk at 3.0 for 3 minutes then jog for 45 seconds at 5.0. Continue this until you reach 30 or 45 minutes. Adjust the speed as works for you. Then adjust the intervals and speeds as you get more endurance. High intensity interval training is scientifically proven to burn the most calories Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
