How many calories do you get in a day?
LowBMISleever replied to ajg91342's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm 2 months post op, and up until 3 days ago I was between 5-600. I went from 700, to 800, to 900 the past 3 days and am up .8 pounds. It's def because I'm eating 3 Quest bars as Meal Replacements instead of real food . They're so yummy, but today I'm back to real food and will only use a Quest bar in case of emergency. Is it normal to get cold feet?
LowBMISleever replied to ella37's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
What you're feeling is completely normal. I was so nervous I tried to cancel my surgery 5 days out. The NUT calmed my fears and I went through with it. Thank goodness I did!! Soooo happy to be sleeved! I, too, was self pay. It's an investment in healthy longevity! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
64oz of Fluid for the first week for me was laughable. I was so excited when I got 24oz. Tomorrow, I'm exactly 8 weeks out, and I can guzzle 16 ounces at once at the gym like I used to. EVERYTHING gets better!!! Week 1 sucked. Week 2 I was hungry bc the fluids were going straight through me, sweet wonderful week 3 started purees for me and I've been the happiest little sleever since then!! Baby yourself for the next 2 weeks. It is SO worth it!! I'm down 32 pounds and can't wipe the smile off my face Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

When do you delete your online dating profile?
LowBMISleever replied to SleeveSoon's topic in The Lounge
Ughhh. I could use dating advice too. And I don't belong giving any dating advice, so I can't help you lol. Sorry to hijack your post, but I'd love some input on my situation! I've been on 4 dates with a nice guy that I'm not really attracted to - met on match. Why? Well, my ex was smoking hot, with a burning temper. The attraction couldn't have been more, we loved each other, but he had anger and control issues (like I'm walking on egg shells to make sure he doesn't erupt...and no one I know - friends, my parents - are ever allowed over)... So, I moved out 4 months ago, saw a therapist 3 times to figure out why I basically had Stockholm syndrome, got sleeved, lost 30 lbs, and got back out there about 3 weeks ago. Back to online dating: I can't date more than one person at a time. Is that weird? Just feels wrong. Anyway, this guy couldn't be nicer, is okay looking, treats me wonderfully, and there aren't any red flags. My question to everyone: were you head over heels attracted to your significant other? Or did love come later? I've always been the former, and it never seems to work out (mostly bc I'm attracted to controlling types). Do you think there's a chance I'll never REALLY be attracted to anyone who is actually healthy for me? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

@@gustavio Hi!! Guess I'm the a*****e . I'll wear that badge proudly as long as I'm being a proponent for people's health and success on this journey. (Woopsies! Here I go being condescending again, oh man. I'm the worst.) You know what wouldn't be nice? Me saying, "sure sweetie - choose that crunchy shell & spicy sauce - try to eat two! Yummmmy! And, hell, enjoy it with a double margarita." Anyone who did ANY research or spoke to ANY doctor knows damn well they shouldn't eat a flipping taco post-op. Come on. You know what my mom taught me? To grow up and stop looking for others to validate things you know are wrong. I think someone needs to stand up when ridiculous questions are asked so that those considering the surgery don't get misinformation. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Eating or Drinking Your Nutrients?
LowBMISleever replied to Alex Brecher's topic in Food and Nutrition
Sleeved 7 weeks ago. I have premier Protein shake for breakfast. Quest protein bar for snack...another bar for lunch...half an atkin's frozen meal for dinner & ANOTHER quest protein bar for my nightly snack. Puts me at about 865 calories & about 100g of protein. I'm sick of all the string cheese, greek yogurt, & deli meat I've been eating, so this is a welcome change. I'm working out pretty hard now, so the calories aren't affecting my weight loss. On days I don't work out, I keep it to 600 calories. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
6 weeks post op and made my surgeon's goal of 150lbs!! Started at 180. Now just 20 more lbs til I reach my goal of 130!! Very excited, but also a little nervous, because every time I've ever lost weight, I always get stuck between 152 and 148. Really want to see the 130s!! Anyone else 20ish pounds from goal want to keep each other in check? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I agree. There's Biotin in your multi. You'll already be taking enough pills/supps. hair loss has more to do with getting your Protein and Vitamins in. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Are there any restaurants Bari friendly?
LowBMISleever replied to jackieu2012's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Agreed! Echo is wonderful. Sushi place with some great small plate apps. If/when you're drinking, their bartenders are amazing - they will accommodate any sugar free needs and change up simple syrup for liquid stevia so you can enjoy their specialty drinks without the extra calories. @@higher I live in West Palm and you named every restaurant I went to (aside from Echo & Bricktops) the past 2 weeks lol. It is SO much easier to eat dinner out than at home in my opinion. The food actually tastes good. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Drinking While Eating - This is awesome!
LowBMISleever posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
One of the members in the July sleevers FB group posted this awesome video about why WLS patients shouldn't drink while eating or right afterwards. I haven't seen anyone post this video yet, so I'm posting it here! https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=xR0VM3mnsgM&feature=youtu.be This is the first time I could actually see why there's no drinking while eating. Great video. The above link seems to have no sound, so you can copy/paste this one: youtube.com/watch?v=xR0VM3mnsgM&feature=youtu.be Or youtube formerfatdudes, and his video is called: WLS - no drinking with meals! Obesity Control Center in Mexico
LowBMISleever replied to ella37's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I used OCC. sleeved 7/22. Perfect experience from pick up at the airport to drop off. Dr. Ortiz is amazing, the staff speaks perfect English, my surgery was super easy, the hotel was nice, and the group I got sleeved with was awesome (there were 5 of us that got sleeved the same day - all Americans and we became friends). The facility was very nice, you get a private room after surgery and the staff holds your hand through everything. There is more staff than patients!! The cost is very reasonable, but you need to call or email OCC for their rates. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
No Sex Drive/Desire after Sleeve 9 months Post Op
LowBMISleever replied to Cutepretty1's topic in The Gals' Room
Maybe this is out of left field, but are you getting enough fluids in? I have dryness issues when I'm not properly hydrated. One other thing to look into: it's called the "O Shot". Supposed to increase libido and pleasure. Worth a look. http://oshot.info Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

I'm officially 1 month from my surgery date of 7/22/16! Stats: Height: 5'6" HW: 180 Pre op: -7 SW: 173 CW: 155 Total Loss: -25!!! Drs Goal: 150 My Goal: 130 I couldn't be happier. I've lost 18 pounds since surgery which is 4.5lbs per week! I know the high BMIers put up better numbers, but I'm thrilled! I'm 5 lbs from dr's goal and 25 from my goal. I'm on soft foods until 8/31 then I go to a "normal" diet. I haven't done a lot of experimenting with food, because once I got to purées, I wasn't hungry anymore. What I'm eating: Premier Protein shake - 30g Fat free Fage greek yogurt w/ stevia - 18g Premier Protein Shake - 30g 2 oz Salmon Sashimi - 12g 1/2c fat free cottage cheese - 10g I'm trying to phase the second shake out with real food, but it's just so handy and I'm one of the few who love Protein Shakes. I only get my 64oz in if I drink Vitamin Water zero. Water hits my stomach a little harder for some reason. Still taking my ppi and Vitamins religiously. I've never has GERD, and I thankfully still do not. So far no loose skin or hair loss, but I think that will be down the road more if it happens. So far, I looooove my sleeve!!! Ideas for exercise
LowBMISleever replied to determined1LD's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you truly have bone on bone arthritis in your knees, then you can't exercise on your legs. You need to get knee replacements. My mom was bedridden from the pain until she got her bilateral knee replacements. Now she's moving around and can exercise no problem. She said it was the hardest surgery she ever went through, but also the most worthwhile. Good luck. I know how horrible you must feel. My mom couldn't make it from her bed to the kitchen without crying from the pain. You can use light weights while seated, but that's about it. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Video: Exercise Isn't the Best Way to Lose Weight
LowBMISleever replied to OutsideMatchInside's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
@@needtorecover That is so funny! I've been having the food dreams since 3 days post op. It's usually me finishing a large pizza to myself. I wake myself up from crying from guilt, then realize it was just a dream and am SOO relieved!! I think these dreams help keep me on track lol, but it's kind of masochistic. I wish I'd stop having them! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Video: Exercise Isn't the Best Way to Lose Weight
LowBMISleever replied to OutsideMatchInside's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I killed myself working out in my pre-surgery life. And I did exactly what that video says - got starving and thought I could eat whatever I wanted after a hard work out. All it did was let me maintain, never lose. This was a great video. Super educational! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

Then I say go for it. My surgeon told me that our bodies naturally taper off as we reach out goal and it becomes harder to lose weight. I only weighed 173 at surgery, I'm 5'6" and my surgeon wasn't worried about me losing too much. Plus, your BMI is high enough to qualify for surgery with comorbidities so you're an excellent candidate! Of course, talk to your dr & your NUT for real medical advice Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
