  2. I was sleeved 7/22/16 and have had great success. My mom wants to get sleeved, but she's worried her medical history will make her ineligible. Obviously she needs to seek the opinions of qualified doctors, but I think if she heard that someone else had her issues and was successfully sleeved it would motivate her to move forward and make the appointment. Anyone with diverticulitis end up having surgery to remove it (8 inches of large intestine was removed) and then get sleeved after? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  4. I'm down 40 pounds as of today and have no loose skin. Started at BMI 29. Going to lose 10-15 more pounds. I'll keep you updated. HOWEVER, I work out everyday and lift weights 60 minutes 2 times a week. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

@@rhondakayshalton All you need to bring to the hospital is your toothbrush/paste, one loose fitting outfit, gas x strips, and I brought a neck pillow & small pillow for my lap for the drive home that I thought were life savers. You get a private room for the night you're there and it has Netflix . The only other things I'd bring to the hotel are a few comfortable changes of loose clothes and a good book or two - because you'll definitely get bored. There's TV and movies, but I was grateful to have some reading material. Don't bring anything to eat. The hotel supplies your "meals" with your stay. Oh, and your cell phone & charger. The hotel has free wifi. Be prepared to be very well taken care of. Everyone speaks English, cares deeply and makes you feel extremely comfortable. It's a great experience because you'll get dropped off with 4-5 others getting sleeved as well. When I was there, we all supported each other, "ate" together after the surgery and went for walks to the local shopping area. It's so nice to not feel like you're in it alone good luck! I'm sure you can't wait for it to be done!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Do you count carbs?

I'm almost 10 weeks post op and I only get 10-15 NET carbs. I gain weight and experience cravings if I eat carbs. Everyone's surgeon & NUT are different, but mine doesn't have us eating carbs until 3 months out. Protein first & then veggies if there's room. There's never room for carbs in my tummy if I want to hit my protein goals. What does your NUT say? What is your protein goal? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    <--- I'm with stupid

A few days shy of 10 weeks post op, down 38 pounds (which I think are badass numbers for a low BMIer!), being a perfect newbie sleever going by the book, zero nausea, perfect experience...then last night... Went looking at houses - literally - all day. Brought my Quest bar to snack on and propel to sip. Underestimated how long I'd be looking & by the end of the day I felt soooo irritable, weak and upset that I started second guessing my entire life. Extreme thoughts began to manifest: maybe I was an idiot to break up with my ex (who screamed at me & treated me horribly), I should just quit my job...who needs the hassle for money when I don't need that much to eat anymore, I'll never find a house to buy, maybe I'll be alone forever....and so on. Then I ate dinner. Way. Too. Fast. Then my perfect streak of zero vom sessions became 1. At a fancy restaurant. Thank goodness I made it to the bathroom. Then I went on a coffee date with a hot guy and realized that I was perfectly happy, love my job, will absolutely find a house, and should remember that POST-OP HUNGER FEELS DIFFERENT THAN PRE-OP!! My world-is-over inner monologue was merely a reminder that I needed to eat! And, I will be better prepared for all day trips so I never reach that horrible place again. Thanks for letting me vent! How does hunger feel differently to you post-op? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    apple cider vinegar

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1785201/#__ffn_sectitle To paraphrase the 78 page research study, apple cider vinegar lacks any scientific research to back up any of the claims people have made regarding its benefits. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Birth Control & Surgery?

I broke up with my boyfriend a couple months prior to surgery and now I'm just shy of 10 weeks post op and dating again. Soooo birth control hasn't been an issue, but I'm now 5 dates into dating someone nice and thinking I should probably start considering BC. I didn't lose 36 pounds to get pregnant 3 months out! working out

I second @@Dub - get on that elliptical! Start slowly just to make sure you have the energy you think you have, then you can kill it! I haven't missed a day at the gym since I was 3 weeks out of surgery. It's my favorite part of the day!! 5wks out

@@KristenLe I honestly think this is a prank... If it's not, it really doesn't even merit a response at this point. If the OP didn't care enough to read her post op instructions or listen to her NUT, then I don't care enough to offer a response. For people with honest, heartfelt questions, I will give all my time. For posts like this, well, it's just a waste. I'm excited for you to finally get sleeved - bc you are an EXPERT at this point and are going to be so successful!! I bought vitaleph products. Hated their shakes. If you like them, I'll mail you mine. I also used the first month of their Vitamin package, which was great bc I knew I was getting what I was supposed to. After the first month when I knew the majority of my healing was done & I felt safe tO move to over the counter Vitamins, I started using Flintstones Complete 2p/ day. chewable Align Probiotics, liquid B-12/Folic Acid from health store, and calcium/vit D chews. I'll let you know how my bloodwork comes back. Have appointment on Monday to check it. Oh, and I drink Premier Protein drinks...pre op, post op, probably forever lol Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
