3 months post op and still experiencing gas and constipation.
Marisa13 replied to TLC2017's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have been taking Miralax for the past year, every morning. I started taking it 2 months post op after suffering with horrible constipation. I have tried to take it every other day, or stop completely, but find myself suffering. I was always very regular pre surgery, so I really hate how I feel if I don't have a BM every day! So I just take it every day, and feel great. Sent from my SM-N920V using BariatricPal mobile app -
Preventing constipation TMI
Marisa13 replied to Sugarnspice's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would say my day 3 taking it, I became "regular ". I know it's TMI to some people, but I'm miserable if I don't poop regular/once a day! Lol. I will keep taking my Miralax, thank you very much. The alternative is not pleasant! My family teases me, says I should be on their commercial..."I love my LAX!" [emoji16] -
Preventing constipation TMI
Marisa13 replied to Sugarnspice's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I suffered miserably for the first 7 weeks after surgery. Tried Benefiber. It did nothing for me. I started Miralax, and it was miraculous. I take it every single morning. One capful in my coffee each and every morning. It keeps me regular. I was always regular before surgery and am one of those people that feels miserable if I don't have a BM each day. So, I take my Miralax and am very happy! Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App -
Gas post op 2 months out.
Marisa13 replied to warninglabels's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I mix the Miralax in a cup of coffee every morning. I can't even taste it. What did you mix it in? You can put it in any beverage. Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App -
Gas post op 2 months out.
Marisa13 replied to warninglabels's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I was constipated for the first 8 weeks. It made me feel bloated. I tried stool softeners and Benefiber with no success. I take Miralax every morning, one cap full. And it works like a charm. Regular bm's, and my tummy is no longer bloated. You might feel gassy because of the constipation. Try Miralax for a couple of weeks and see how you feel. It has been a Godsend for me because I was so miserable before. Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App -
Yes, my NUT told me at a pre-op appt. You ingest air when you chew gum. No drinking through straws either! Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App

Puree/Soft Foods start today!
Marisa13 replied to Clarevoyant's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I love the Ricotta Bake. Some people say it's too dry but I have not found that to be the case. It's just nice to have something with flavor! Today, I took a can of no sugar added peach slices, drained, rinsed and pureed them. I had a tablespoon over my cottage cheese. It was delish! Ah, the simple fact! First week post vsg- almost no weight lost
Marisa13 replied to Believe16's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did not lose one pound in the week after surgery. The second week, I saw a big loss. Now third week, slowed down. I've heard this is all normal. Personally, I think my body is so confused! Stop stressing and weigh yourself only once a week or else you will go crazy! Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App -
Fitting old clothes!
Marisa13 replied to VSGMEPLZ26's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Me too! I'm down 25 lbs, but it feels like so much more because of inches lost. I am 3 weeks out and my pre surgery clothes are falling off! Luckily I saved a lot of tight clothes, and am fitting in stuff I haven't worn in years! My scale hasn't moved much this past week, but it's ok. I know changes are happening. Chewing gum causes gas. It is one of the things they tell you to stop doing. Gas X strips and Mylecon drops worked for me. My gas pains started to subside right around the 1 week mark. It will get better! Don't chew gum, whatever you do! Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App

Your surgeon should have given you guidelines and instructions. Every doctor differs but I am on week 3 and on pureed and I have three meals a day plus two Protein shakes in between, as well as a lot of sugar free/non carbonated liquids. Ask your surgeon or nutritionist for literature showing what you can and cannot have at each stage. It's very important. Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App

What does hunger feel like?
Marisa13 replied to gettingsleeved1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That might be residual gas pains. I am almost three weeks out and I can honestly say I have not been hungry nor full. I am clueless. But in my first week post op I had sensations like that and my MD said it was probably gas. It has since stopped. Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App -
Just threw up my multivitamin
Marisa13 replied to gettingsleeved1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am taking Bariatric fusion chewable with no issues. Yesterday, I decided to take the Bariatric Advantage samples my nutritionist gave me and I got extremely nauseous! Thought I was going to hurl. I won't be doing that again. Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App -
Hard time losing the 15 pounds
Marisa13 replied to northstar9148's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's amazing how doctors orders and pre op diets vary so much. I was on liquids for the 2 weeks, with the exception of 1 Protein bar per day. 4 8oz Protein shakes. A ton of sf Popsicles and sf Jello. I lost 12 lbs in 12 days. As hard as it was I am so glad they made me do it because it has made the post op fluids and pureed diet stages so much easier for me to handle. It really prepared me. If you can't make these sacrifices now, it is going to be so much harder for you post op. Believe me. Good luck! Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App -
Getting sick of protein shakes--literally
Marisa13 replied to magoosmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
GNC makes pre made Lean shakes. If you like strawberries, they have a strawberry and cream flavor that tastes like strawberry milk. For me, they have been the best tasting. I switched to the powdered GNC Lean but they aren't doing it for me. Would rather spend a couple more dollars for the premade. Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App -
Dreading the Nausea!
Marisa13 replied to NewAdventure2016's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I told anesthesiologist I get motion sickness easy. They supposedly put some kind of anti nausea meds with my anesthesia, and they put a patch behind my ear right before surgery. The only time I was nauseous was immediately after surgery when I had to sit up and get from gurney to my hospital bed. I dry heaved twice, and that was it. Zero problems. Took the patch off day 3. I was told to sleep elevated. I am a side sleeper, so that was hell. When I first tried to sleep on my side, it felt uncomfortable. Now that I am 2 /12 weeks out, I find myself rolling on my side. I am super exhausted, but for some reason, I have not slept a full night since before surgery. I hope it improves. Am thinking of getting some Tylenol pm. My 2 week pre op consisted of a very small Protein bar for Breakfast, and 3 (8 oz) Protein shakes. In between I drank Water, crystal light. Had sf Jello and sf Popsicles too. That's it. Yes, I was very hungry at times, but I lost 12 lbs, and it prepared mentally for post surgery eating. P.s. I would have loved to have some fresh vegetables! Consider yourself lucky! Looking for Insulin Dependent Sleepers to share info
Marisa13 posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am an Insulin Dependent type 2 Diabetic. I have had trouble finding information on Sleeve success with patients like me. I had the Sleeve surgery on 7/5, so it is very early stage, but i am curious to find other insulin dependent Sleevers like me to hear what their experiences have been like. Please note, I am not one of those Diabetics who will get to go off their meds. I do not produce any insulin, and have been on an insulin pump for 5 years. I also gained 60 lbs when I started insulin therapy, which is the main reason why I had Bariatric Surgery. Weight loss with insulin has been virtually impossible. Am now hoping and praying Sleeve will work. Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App -
I am almost 2 weeks post op. Before surgery, and all my life, I had daily BMW like clockwork. I knew to expect some constipation, especially because of pain meds. I went 7 days with no BM. First couple of BMs were very small. I went 3 days in a row and felt great, now I am 3 days with no BM and am miserable. My surgeon recommended Mira lax. Definitely going to start taking it immediately! Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App
