SIPS / SADI-S LOOP DS SUPPORT
pinky1080 replied to jlofabulous's topic in Duodenal Switch Surgery Forum
I feel yah Hun I'm right with yah. I had surgery 6/28/2016 and it changed my life for the best. I go out and eat with my family a lot and end up always having my kids or hubby pick from my order as I'll never finish my plate. I eyeball food now knowing if I'll finish it or not. I'm picky now too, many things don't taste or sit well with me. Sometimes things I loved don't taste the same. But I'm not missing out either, I love having new energy and the ability to fit in smaller sizes. Hang in there it only gets better Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

Sorry to hear Bottom line WLS is only considered a tool and I strongly believe you will do awesome with whichever option you choose. You sound excited and stoked to move forward in your new life of endless health opportunity. What's helped me before and post surgery is a mental health specialist I honestly believe their role is vital to ongoing success...I can't tell yah how much the inner me needed better health to support my outrageous changes(though still very newbie 6/28/2016) I'm looking forward to new good and bad challenges. And don't forget our awesome community of experience and assistanceI wish you miracles and blessings. God Bless you Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

Sorry to hear that RedCheeks. That sounds outrageous that your BMI is short 3 and you have to settle? I know from experience that insurance can be cruel. In other words if you ate yourself 3 more BMI scores they'd do the surgery.... Maybe your doctor will do a miracle, I'm a hoping and a praying it all works in your favor. Reposting on most everything below. .. " I am looking into the SADI/SIPS surgery myself. I have been doing lots of research. I am 31 years old with a BMI of 47, 264lbs 5'3" right now. I live in Central Florida and although Dr. Jawad is the most famous, I'm looking into Dr. Smith at Celebration Hospital. I wanted to ask... all those who have done this surgery, how is the diarrhea and gas? I know with the Standard Duodenal Switch there are side effects of horrible smelling gas and diarrhea. I don't want to live my life in fear of clearing a room with my putrid stench. This is a major deal breaker for me. Is this a big problem with SADI/SIPS like it is for DS? How do you deal with it? Is the Vitamin regimen just as severe as it is for DS? What is your vitamin routine daily... what do you take, when, how often, etc? How much would you say it costs you for Vitamins monthly and where do you buy them? I'm sure I will have more questions to follow. Thank you all. " Sent from my SM-N900T using the BariatricPal App Hi RedCheeks! All the way in Florida it's awesome and yet scary to think you're considering this tool of control to battle obesity kudos! I personally selected SADI-S for the minimal amount of side effects. I personally have no issues with diarrhea especially since I'm in the phase where I've added Protein shakes to my diet. I can vouch that the first 2 weeks my bowel movements were more liquid in nature for the simple fact I literally was on clear liquid only and no protein I reckon meant literally no roughage Now on to vitamins it really depends on each individual person how vigorous their regiment is. I personally was in the clear of a lot of major illness except for bad sleep apnea and being super fun sized 500+ lbs so after surgery and at week 2 and now 4 days I take children's vitamins chewable sand calcium citrate 3 times a day as well as a protein shake(30g) 3times daily as well, Also take vitamin D(high dosage) once a day and I also take Prevacid tabs twice daily I think I'm doing Prevacid for the entire month until gone to aid my sensitive new tummy. As you can see it's not really that vigorous, but every person is a different case. I'm suppose to be making my shake out of the whey canister but I cans seem to get it down nicely so I kinda cheat and do Premier Protein shakes that auto come in 30g for 11oz.... I'll eventually make my own so it can be thicker... Dr Assistant said get it down whatever way at this point. Because I can't gulp it down I have to sip it I chose the shake I use for now as it smoothly goes well hopefully I've given you more insight and ask away if you have more questions Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
