Y'all bring tears to my eyes. Thanks so much for your concern, well wishes and prayers - I need them all! I thought I was doing better yesterday after the dr. unfilled me completely - the nausea was better and I was able to drink a bit in the evening but about an hour after going to bed it all came back up. Dr. Kuri called me this morning to see how I was doing and I let him know what was going on - he said that if things aren't better by this afternoon I'll need to go into the hospital today to be put on fluids before he can do surgery either tomorrow afternoon or Monday morning. Keep those prayers a-coming! Lots of love,

Thanks for all your well-wishes. I appreciate each one. Roberta, No. The dr's not sure. Either I had a stomach bug that caused a lot of vomiting then that caused me to slip OR the slip itself caused all the nausea and vomitting. I think it was the latter because I haven't had any other symptoms. Thanks so much for your concern.

It's amazing how many calories you can get in on liquids (not clear liquids, but blended liquids). During the liquid post-op days I didn't gain or lose. Just maintained, which was good. I didn't have any weakness during that time. But, if you ever become too tight and can't get down solids or liquids THAT is when you get weak. The past few weeks have been a reminder to me - if you become so tight that you can't eat solids and can drink few liquids get an unfill immediately because it does not get better with time. Only worse. Even during the "too tight" times I have continued my exercise program-just took it easier. I didn't want to get out of the routine. Good luck!

Does anyone Chew and spit just to get the mental out of the way?
shanna replied to elain31's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I did it just last week. I had been waaaay too tight for about a week and had not eaten any solid food. My daughter had made brownies and I was sooo hungry so I ate a WHOLE brownie (spitting out every bite). I thought it would be more satisfying than it really was. -
Y'all are too funny! Ok, here's mine... I grew up in Houston and when I was a kid (8 or 9) my brother was in the Navy and was living somewhere where it snowed. I had never seen snow in person before and so my mom was excited to tell me that it was snowing where Troy lived and wouldn't it be nice if he could mail some to us. I then said, "Oh, but it would melt and the box would be full of milk!" And, yes, to those who are wondering - I AM blond!

Anyone start out around 220 where are you now. What can I expect
shanna replied to ladysplenda's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I started out at 217 and I'm 5'4" so we are very close in stats. I'm at 166 right now and my goal is 140. Then I'm getting myself a tummy tuck and lypo to get down to 130 or so - woooohoooo! I don't think you're being unrealistic at all. Your goal should be what makes YOU feel your best, not your doc. Good luck! -
Sheree, I, too, have had Dr. Kuri as my surgeon. If you want to pm me, that would be great. My surgery was Oct 6, 2005. Gellergirl, I'm going to Dr. Kuri tomorrow, too. I need another unfill. Do you drive to the border and then walk across to take a taxi? If you want, we could share a taxi and go together. PM me if you want. Either way I'll see you tomorrow!

Wow, what a wonderful thing you want to do for your mom. I really liked the journal idea and sitting with her and just letting her know the money is there for her if/when she decides to do it. Then, every few weeks I would say something like, "Have you given any more thought about the lapband surgery?" so she doesn't have to come asking you for it directly. Being a proud person myself, I know I would have a hard time accepting such generocity at first, but if the person kept bringing it up, I would possibly change my mind because I would realize that they really meant what they were saying. So, don't give up on her - give her some time to accept your generocity. Good luck,

Way to go! You're doing great! Keep up the good work!:clap2: :clap2: :clap2:

Can the hospital prevent me from driving myself home?
shanna replied to sleepyjean's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Ya. Everyone's right. I know for me, I had a very difficult time sitting up - I had to lean back in the car and the bumpyness was pretty painful. Good luck in finding someone to take you. You're gonna do the right thing, right?????? Take care and "Welcome to Bandland!", -
Hey, Leener! Glad you came through OK. I'm so sorry you went through all that. I had a difficult time coming out of anesthesia also. I don't know how you got up by 4 to get out of there. I stayed the night - I couldn't even get up and start walking around until after 10 pm and my surgery was at 7 am. My doc said to keep pills at/under the size of a #2 pencil. Hope that helps. Oh, and drink a full glass of Water after taking pills to make sure it goes into your lower stomach. (Just take it slow) And walk as much as possible especially with coughing so much - it will help to prevent pneumonia. Each day gets a little better, but realistically it took me a couple of weeks to feel "much better". I hope it's sooner for you. Good luck and my prayers are with you,

Hi ya'll. I am a kindergarten teacher and it's the best time of the day right now - "nap time"! That's when I get in a little LBT time. But after nap time I'm off to Mexico for a little "unfill" - I've been miserable for 10 days! Can't believe it's been that long. I am looking forward to relief! Have a great day!
-
I hope all went well today. I'm so, so sorry you had to go through that (again). Hopefully recovery will be easier this time around. My thoughts and prayers are with you today.
-
Congratulations! I hope all is well for you today and your recovery time is short. Let us know how you're doing...
-
Glad to have you back, Angie. I've been worried about you. I'm sure glad all is well and that you're getting back to "normal" (whatever that is).
-
Prayers have been sent....I hope you get all (or many) of your questions answered. Let us know how it goes.

Woooo-hoooo! That's so exciting! Keep up the good work!:clap2: :clap2: :clap2: -
I had to do the exact same thing in January. I did gain 2 pounds during the 2 weeks w/o much fill but it came right back off the week I was "refilled". It was hard, but I tried to keep to the same rules and didn't go out to eat, which helped a lot. 2 weeks seems like forever when you're unfilled, but YOU CAN DO IT! Good luck to ya,
-
:faint: Yep! That's been my average PB. Sometimes the pain in the upper back and chest area can continue into the next day for me. I'm so sorry you had to go through that - I'm so sorry any of us have to go through that. On the positive side it looks like you have a great support system and you have both learned a very valuable lesson that will help you in the future. Lots of luck to you.
-
Hi, Ryan! Welcome to LBT. There's a wonderful support system here and I'm glad you found us.

How would you know if the band came off?
shanna replied to April10's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Ya, your swelling probably went down. I could almost eat as much as before surgery until my first fill (I did stay on liquids and move to mushies, then solids like my dr. said). Good Luck! -
Wow, that's awesome! Jogging is very difficult for me - I don't think I breathe right. I immediately get a stitch in my side if I try. Keep up the good work!! Pretty soon you'll be running a marathon!! :first:
-
:clap2: NO CAKE! NO CAKE!:clap2:
-
I did it, too! Good luck Mr. Hobbs!
-
Oh, Kim, I'm so sorry. I know how that feels - CRAPPY! Keep up the chant "NO CAKE" and have some, uh....yogurt? It's just not the same, is it? Sorry about your evil coworkers - they should be shot!
