  1. If we can barely eat or drink after surgery how are we going to reach Protein goals? We would have to consume around 32 ounces of Protein shake to get the right protein. At one oz at a time how is that possible.

I scoop of nectar protein has 23 grams of protein. In the beginning I mixed 1 scoop with 4 ounces of Water. That was considered Clear liquids for the first stage of recovery. 3 shakes would give me 69 grams of protein. The 4th shake is a bonus amount. That also counts as your Fluid intake. That's a total of 12 oz with all protein requirements. Or drinking 4 shakes gives me 16 oz of fluids with 92 grams of protein.

  2. I have my surgery on July 8th in juarez with Dr Rodriguez, my husband then went and had the surgery in September along with my brother in law. We all had great experiences. We were treated exceptionally well. I have never had a dr. In the states come to my room multiple times to make sure all was ok. But the Dr's in juarez did just that. The videos I saw were exactly the same as when we got there. Even the pictures I looked up on line myself were the same. The facilitators from belite have been super. I can text or call them with any simple question and they respond instantly. They text and call to check in with us all the time. I could not have asked for a better experience. I would definitely recommend belite and Dr Rodriguez and his team. I did not have negative experiences with unsanitary nurses.

  3. I'm 4 months post VSG. I haven't lost any weight in 1 month. I am going crazy... I know that stalls are common, however I have no idea how much I should be eating. Different surgeons in the same office have given me different ideas of how many calories I should eat. MFP says 1800 calories a day to lose 2 lbs a week, but that doesn't take into account that I had WLS...

    Typical Menu:

Breakfast - 1 egg omelet with turkey sausage and cheese

lunch - Leftovers from dinner, usually just some type of Protein

dinner - Protein (chicken tenders, beef roast, shrimp)

I don't snack or eat carbs. And I drink 50 oz of Water daily...

If I get different information all the time, what's a girl to do?

I want to break this stall so bad!

Sometimes you need to confuse your body. Taking in lower calories and low to no carbs makes the body think it's starving and stores the food so to speak. Occasionally it's good to have a day where you eat what you normally wouldn't, like some Pasta or something. It triggers the body to think differently and then the weight lose restarts

EEEEK! I definitely wouldn't advise eating pastaa at four months out. Nope.
I had 2 tablespoons if Pasta directed by my nutritionist. I had not enough calories and food intake and my body was in starvation mode. I'm not suggesting anyone eat anything without consulting their physician. This is what I was instructed to do and it worked well for me

Have at it, but **I** wouldn't recommend it to someone at four months out. ;)

    I am 2.5 months out

  6. Finally got my band to sleeve revision done. It was yesterday. First 3 hours was bad. Incision pain, general nausea, gas pains. After that I could walk and the pain subsided. Although nauseous, I tolerated Water well, and I never slimed (like I did with my lap band) and haven't thrown up yet. The first two walks, I got dizzy. That went away today. My surgery was done at 7 am, and I was released the same day at 4 pm. I was first in.

I'm not hungry at all. Today, on my 2nd day I was able finished 32 oz with 1 scoop Bariclear, going to make a new one to try to get 64 oz but don't think I'll be able to get that down by the end of the day.

So I see I have 7 incisions. I had like 4 for my lapband. How many did they put in you? Thanks!

    I had 5 incisions

  7. I am 7 weeks post op and the for the first month, I never thought about food and loved that. Now I do think about food but mostly what I can have or want that will help me continue on my weight loss journey. So far, I have stuck to my plan and don't feel deprived. I eat out a lot while socializing and have found it easy to find something on the menu I can eat or adapt. Then when I begin to eat and realize, again, I can't eat much, eating just isn't much of a big deal anymore. This is a good journey so far!

You summed it up exactly how I feel also! I had surgery July 8th, we are pretty close in our timeline

  8. I am 5 weeks out, I follow my post op diet plan as instructed. I have not had any problems so far. My recovery after surgery was better than I expected, the pain wasn't really pain, just more uncomfortable than anything. I also had a low bmi to start with at 31. I have lost 25lbs this first month. The only issue I have had is Constipation, which I don't really think is that bad of an issue. I don't have any negative feedback about the sleeve surgery. Everyone has different bodies and react to things differently. People tend to vent more when things aren't going well which us why you may see more negative feedback than positive. All in all...I'm happy I had the surgery, I feel great! Was back at work a week after surgery. Good luck and don't be afraid

  9. It's because your vagus nerve is being irritated. It runs along the top of your stomach, and for many people it gets super-sensitive after surgery. The vagus nerve controls all sorts of autonomous reactions in the upper body, like hiccups, sneezing, and getting a runny nose. Many people find that if they eat less, they don't get that reaction, as not as much food is pressing against the nerve and irritating it. This sort of thing tends to go away as time passes from surgery.

I don't feel so crazy now! Thanks for the explanation

  10. I had surgery 30th June. Would be great to compare notes. I lost 11lbs on pre op and 12 lbs since op. No pain. Trying to be v activ. Original bmi 39

Great progress! I've lostb18lbs total. Not too much pain, more uncomfortable than anything. I walk alot which really seems to help. My original bmi was 31. I'm still on somewhat liquids and yogurt consistency.

  11. Anyone with a lower-ish BMI been sleeved? I'm at BMI 32 now and have been approved due to co morbidities (high Bp and DM). Just curious to here other stories of lower BMI folks!?

I had my surgery on July 8, 2016. My bmi was 31. I've lost 17lbs this first week. I'm 44, seems harder to lose weight the older we get. I also paid for it out of pocket rather than try insurance. I didn't tell anyone either except my sister and husband.
