    Carbs

Could someone fill me in on how many (not to exceed) carbs one should have in a day when you are in phase 5? Thank you.

3 1/2 weeks out and LIFE IS GREAT!

I'm like you. No side affects at all. I'm just struggling with drinking the Protein drinks...sick of them.
  3. I gave up coffee during my pre-op two week phase. I have not had any since. Truthfully I don't miss it. I drank two cups every morning for the past 40 years and now I don't. I get up every morning and start my day without it. I can't believe how much time I spent every day for the past 40 years having an affair with that little cup of joe!.

    Can we talk carbs?

I am on stage 5 diet plan which is for post-op 60-182 days (8-26 weeks). My diet has progressed to 1 to 2 Protein drinks a day, and up to 48 oz of Water. Now two meals may consist of protein food plus 1/4 cup vegetable plus 1/4 cup of fruit...and that's it. So basically for Breakfast I have a Protein Drink, lunch 1/2 to 1/2 cup allowable protein food plus 1/4 cup vegetable and 1/4 cup fruit...dinner same ratio. In time I can add one or two tablespoons of whole grain like brown rice or oats at each meal. I haven't tried it yet. I can barley consume this much food.

    Non supportive spouse

I'm sorry for you...this is sad. My husband did not want me too either, but finally relented. Now that 8 weeks are behind us, he has seen a change in me because I'm happier and look better. Your husband is probably scared for you. Read to him as much as you can. Print out information for him and leave it laying around...he'll peek at it. He just need a buy in.

    6 wks out

Hi, I'm 8 weeks out and can tolerate just about everything I've tried so far. My typical day right now is, 1 egg for Breakfast, mid morning shake, lunch 3 oz imitation crab meat sticks with 14 grams of protien, a cheese stick for mid day snack, and for dinner I put chicken salad teaspoons between two cucumber rounds with a 1/2 cherry tomato in the middle and eat a3-4 of those. Then I have one last Protein shake before bed. I'm satisfied. Another thing I like is I buy stuffed mushrooms with Turkey balls and can eat two at a time for dinner too. They pack a good 14 g of protein. Right now, I'm pretty much buying everything from the deli...tastes better and more choices than I can come up with on my own. Taste is everything to keep a happy day.
  7. Ask him to give you 6-8 weeks for recovery. By then you will be able to incorporate your lifestyle of eating with his and the family. Until then, you will be on your own schedule and probably not too into cooking. However, by 8 weeks you can plan for your dinner along with theirs and be just fine. By then you will have figured out how and what you can eat out together. I'm just 8 weeks out and my husband and I went out to a Mexican food place this past weekend and I got a toastada with Beans and beef and left the hard shell. I could only eat less then 1/2 the goodies, but it sure was good. He ate what he normally does and we had a good time together.

    Looking for Fitbit sleevers!

Hi there, I'm a Fitbit user. I don't know how to invite friends, but you can add me and I'll accept. Thanks.
  9. My surgeon said that I should walk 10,000 steps a day (approx. 4.5 miles) in an hour. I'm doing that. He said I should eat at lease 60 grams of protein a day. I'm doing that. He said I should be drinking 64 oz of liquid a day...I average 48. My calories aren't topping 1000 a day, because I'm only supposed to eat two meals a day right now. So, he said my weight goal should be between 205-210 by August 31st. I'm at 220 and with all that the scale is not moving. It's been 5 days now...no change. I don't get it. I don't see how I'm going to make my goal at this rate and I'm getting real sad. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

    30/30/30 rule

What I find annoying about the rule is 4.5 total hours out of a day for no drinking, BLD, yet we are to get in 64 oz of water too. It's a challenge for sure.

    The dreaded first stall...

When I hit my first stall, I started my 10,000 steps a day and it moved the scale again. I am now an official Mall walker...come rain or shine.
  12. When can I stop drinking protein drinks on a daily basis? They are literally making me nauseous right now.

How am I doing? Feedback encouraged.

Buffelhead, I have been faithful to follow the plan given me by my doctor. I drink up to 64 oz of Water (which includes two Protein drinks a day ...60 grams of protein, usually 1 egg in the morning, and refried Beans 1/2 cup and some chicken usually 1/2 of breast in the evening. I take my Vitamins twice a day and three Calcium chews. My excercise program has not really began. My doctor has said nothing about calorie counting or carbs. I'm just beginning my stage 4-6 week plan. Tomorrow I can begin eating soft vegetables and pealed fruit.
  14. I would like feed back from those who are past the 4 week post-op phase to weigh in on how you think I'm doing. My surgery was July 6, 2016. I lost 7 lbs during the two week pre-op phase and 19 lbs in the past 4 weeks post-op. Total since June 25...26 lbs. Am I doing okay? Should it be more? I feel great except my belly button incision...still a small open wound, but not infected. Energy low, but manageable. I feel like it should be more weight loss, but perhaps I'm doing good. Thanks.
