I would try asap to get the surgery before the 1st. That'll be on your surgeons office. I'd get on the ball. You don't want to wait! They won't let you continue coverage. Sent from my SM-G900R4 using the BariatricPal App -

Depends on your insurance. Aetna says "no net gain" so I'd check with insurance. Sent from my SM-G900R4 using the BariatricPal App -

Time frame from 1st appointment to surgery

You will have so many days once insurance approves it. Some insurances give 3 month approvals some 30 days. Ask your insurance. But the surgeons office can give them an estimated date as well. Sent from my SM-G900R4 using the BariatricPal App -
I am going on Aetna on January 1st, has anyone done the 3 month multi discipline or 6 month supervised dieting? What did they require that you do?

With no comorbibitys and a bmi of 42.6 I cannot lose more the 16 pounds to stay at a bmi of 40. Any suggestions on maintaining weight on weigh in days? I just started so I'm just worried if I gain at a weigh in I'll be denied. Sent from my SM-G900R4 using the BariatricPal App
-
So you did the 90 day that your insurance would pay for? Did you lose weight in that 90 days? Thats pretty close on that borderline of 40. I am 42.6 and having a hard time maintaining not to gain but also to lose 1 or 2 pounds a month. I am doing 6 months.
-
So did you have any comorbibities? I hate being on that fine line. If I lose 15 pounds I'm under the bmi. I'm just ready to get this going! Sent from my SM-G900R4 using the BariatricPal App

So who chose the 3 month diet versus 6? You the patient or the surgeon? So I started my 6 month with my PCP but my BMI is 42.6 with no cormorbids. I am 5'7 so i really have to maintain and not lose to much. I am afraid when I start in January with the surgeons office I will be heavier than when I started with pcp.

Anyone else just starting this journey
olamae replied to Frenchie1977's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I haven't even met with the surgeon yet because I am getting married Jan 1st and won't have Aetna until then. So I looked at their clinical bulletin and went ahead and started the 6 month on June 29 with my pcp. Hope this works when Aetna kicks in! I won't be sleeved until FEB/MARCH. -
