Hi,
My name is Dawn. My husband and I have been together 20years. We have been Blessed with 5 amazing kids. 2girls and 3 boys. They keep me busy. I have had some health issues on and off and I have had 4 knee surgeries. Not knee replacement because I am young still. My health issues are with my knees and ankles. I have arthritis pretty bad and I am very much over weight of which does not help my health. Suprisingly I am not diabetic.
I have thought about this for the past few years. I had a friend that had the gastric bypass and she is a year post op. She is doing great. So I talked to her talked with my husband and decided to go for it. Last August I had a scare and I was in a wheelchair for a few months because I could not walk...it hurt too much and my legs were severely swollen. I am doing alright now. Sometimes I have flare ups where a leg swells up and is painful. Doctors never figured out what was wrong. I decided I don't want to be laid up like that again. I need to lose weight....a lot. I want to be around for my children, my family. I want to better me. I want to be healthier!!
On May 24, 2016 my life changed. I met Dr. Taylor and spoke with him. Given my health history we agreed for me to have the gastric bypass surgery. I had to have 2 psych evaluations per my insurance. Now I have a surgery date of August 10, 2016. On July 26, 2016 I had my preop testing! I was cleared with flying colors... admit I am a bit nervous and anxious. I have already changed my diet and portions. I have been exercising too! I will keep everyone posted on my journey!
I am 9 days away from surgery and a bit anxious!!
