I did that. Gained 13 lbs and had no regrets. Now that I am post op, I am glad I got to eat and drink all my favorites before the pre-op stage. My last meal was amazing. Now I am content with the post op requirements and I have no cravings.

Note to self: I don't have to take this day all at once but rather one step, one breath and one moment at a time. I am only one person.

@@kemstah Do you have a therapist?? I think that might be the best place to start. Find out why you keep sabotaging yourself. It will benefit you once you've had surgery too. You just have to do it (I know easier said than done)! Write a list of all the things you want to do when you lose weight - all the positive outcomes of WLS - and anytime you feel like cheating - read that list and remind yourself why you need to stick with it. Find other things to bring you comfort than food. Read a trashy novel, learn how to paint, go for a walk, paint your nails, etc. You are strong enough to get through the liquid diet and lose the necessary weight - you just have to believe that!!!

Although I haven't been sleeved yet (I'm in the process) I think it comes down to life choices. For me I am ready for this life changing tool to regain control over the rest of my life. You have to be ready for it and go into it with that mindset. I think it goes beyond the "Okay I'm ready for this" idea that we all have before we've started every other diet in the past that has failed. This is major..this is surgery...this is the rest of your life...failure is not an option.
Sorry if I rambled, but you have to be 100% ready. There is no halfway. Do your research (I've researched this for 2 years), take a hard look at your life and how this could help/hurt your relationship with your family and food.
    God bless

I think I've had it really easy....certainly easier than some members here.
The easy part is that I was brought to a point where life had humbled me in ways that I'd not seen coming in my 40's. A circulatory problem, a back injury and high blood pressure had each converged on my arse at the same time. I felt beat down and truly questioned my ability to ever see 50.
Pain and fear are powerful motivators.
It made it easy for me to opt for weight loss surgery in hopes of getting a large amount of fat burned off.
It makes is easy to adhere to the the low-carb, low calorie diet that I'm following while in this this weight loss time period.
I'm hoping that it'll make it easy to live and eat normally, but with frequent scale readings to monitor my weight, once I reach the maintenance mode.
The smaller stomach and lack of hunger are very helpful in daily living while losing weight.

I started my journey this morning by going to a seminar. I should get a call this coming week letting me know of my coverage for insurance. I am going through OhioHealth and am an employee, so it will be covered.
I have been overweight much of my life and am now bigger than I have been for awhile. I have been wanting to do the gastric sleeve for awhile, but my moment of of truth came when I had to do the walk of shame off of a ride at Cedar Point. I was unable to ride the new Valraven because I was too big to fit in the seat . I see what my Mom and patient's go through being obese and I am starting to feel it in my body. I feel it in my knees, I am so tired all of the time and depression plays a big part as well. I just want to be healthy and be around for my son. I want to go and be able to ride any ride and be confident that I can fit in the seat.
