  1. Started the process of getting the sleeve in July by attending a seminar at The McConnell Heart Center in Columbus, Ohio. After speaking with my insurance company I found that just the psych eval and 3 nutriton visits were all I needed. After my physical with the nurse practitioner, she told me I was one of the healthier patients they see and all I needed was an EGD and right upper quadrant ultrasound to check my gallbladder. Soooooo I had my first nutriton visit in November, my EGD today, 2nd nutriton visit and psych eval December 13th and the last nutriton visit in January then wait for the insurance to approve it. As I was walking into pre-op it hit me...this is becoming more real and I'm actually doing this! My family is not that supportive and think since I've lost 10lbs the last month or so just watching what I'm eating I don't need the surgery. I've went to all my appointments after the seminar by myself except for the EGD...so I sort of feel like I'm in this alone. It looks like my surgery may be in February and hoping to only take 2 weeks off on short term disability. My FMLA doesn't kick in until May. Should I go ahead and have the surgery in February or wait until May? Sorry for the long post! Sent from my SM-G930V using the BariatricPal App

    Seeking Buddies 5'2" & Under

I don't yet. I meet with one of the doctors Thursday for my physical and to decide what additional tests I may need and will go ahead and schedule my psych appointment and 1st nutriton appointment (I'm only required to do 3). I'm hoping for February or maybe March.

  6. Hey there everyone!! I can't wait to be sleeved and a projected surgery date could be January or February. Most of the people I've told about my sleeve surgery have said I'm going to look like a completely different person. In my mind for some reason I am thinking my life is going to be drastically different...but I'm trying to wrap my mind around how. How I'm going to look at a normal weight...I'm 5'11/2" and weigh between 247-250 and have been overweight almost all of my life....will I truly have more energy (when I'm home from work I don't feel like doing anything but holding down the couch and ALWAYS tired)....will I have more self-esteem and self confidence (because right now it's pretty crappy..as it has been for a very long time)...I want to be a better Mom to my son. I am a single Mom to an 11 yr old who is getting into a lot of different activities at school and we are kicking around running our first 5k together after my surgery. I'm not having second thoughts about surgery, but I want to be realistic about the possible changes and not disappointed in something that might not change. I need life changing. What were some changes (both good and bad) after everyone's surgery that were drastically different than before? For the ladies- Did you still have PMS cravings after surgery?...chocolate, salt and Pepsi Lol. Sorry this post is so long..just curious. ???? Sent from my SM-G930V using the BariatricPal App

I would check into any financial aid the hospital.might offer. I'm employed through the health system that is doing my surgery and we have a big enough system (OhioHealth) that our insurance is really reasonable. After our $1,200 copay/out of pocket the surgery is $6,000. I just found out 2 weeks ago if I sign up for financial aid 100% of my surgery will be paid. I'd try it, what do you have to lose? 10 days in

This time is temporary. Life may suck right now, but you did something that your body will thank you for later. You are going good to be able to eat again...and who knows...maybe the food you are missing may not be the same for you when you can eat. From what I've read on here for many, the food they ate before no longer appealed to them. Keep fighting the good fight and best of luck!

Thanks Dub! I'd rather have the truth than to have smoke blown up my a$$ lol. It's all a learning process and we learn as we go. I'm glad you were able to have the surgery and hope it helped your back! ????

It absolutely makes NO freaking sense to me... **MY RANT**

I'm still pretty new at all of this and still going through the process of doing what I need to do to make this happen. I come here to learn what other people are doing (or not doing) to be successful at this. The stories of weight-loss are great because it gives us pre-sleevers hope...and gives us the reality of stalls and what to do to get through it. Personally I have been researching this for a couple of years and reading everything I can about WLS and am.not taking it lightly. It's NOT a magical cure...it's a tool. This is MAJOR SURGERY and sugar coating things got us all to the weight we are/were to need this surgery in the first place. **For any of you who read my future posts- I want and welcome all advise and recommendations....and if I am doing something I shouldn't call me out on it** Sent from my SM-G930V using the BariatricPal App
