So when I started researching the surgery I did the adult thing and I turned to my darling beau and I explained that I wanted wls, I followed up with how my weight was affecting me, stating facts about how I had been on this viscous cycle since high school of gaining and loosing. At that time he said ok, I don't think you need it, but if you want to do this ok. I guess in retrospect he was never really gung-ho about it, but let's fast forward to 2 1/2 months, 2 nutritionist visits, psych visit, ultrasound, and egd later. I mention to him that I'm almost ready to submit to the insurance and wanted to know how many days he planned on staying home with me for the aftercare. And he says, your not having the surgery and I'm like um yes I am. That train had already left the station! I guess what makes me so upset is that I feel really unsupported and the idea of having to explain my reasoning for wanting this to him again is enough to make my head spin. I have my pre-op appointment on sept 19th. I'm also starting in the 22nd! I've started testing and trying to find some broths and Protein powder and shakes that I like. So far the only thing I know for sure is that I HATE the GNC lean shakes; they like make me nauseous and the one I love with is Orgain is not going to have enough protein it only has 21g per 8 oz serving lol!! He had never struggled with his weight he can eat a whole refrigerator and not gain a pound. So he can not relate. I might have to just find something that he can relate to and tie everything in there. And try to move the conversation from there! Funny that you mention that your husband asked you about how you will handle other guys hitting on you. I think the prospect of the surgery is awakening some of his own insecurities! Yup, I told my husband the same thing. I've tried diet and exercise, the pills, crash diets, etc... My husband to, just made a blanket statement of "you're not doing that" no follow up. If he said "I'm scared about the prospect of surgery. I don't know how to support you through this, I need to understand the procedure" any of those things I can work with but his response was childish. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I'm pretty much just starting also ... I'm in Phoenix, Az. I started in July with my initial consult but have to complete at least 3 months of dietician meetings so I'm hoping for a surgery date in October as well. I have Aetna so fingers crossed! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Hi @@MrsPrincessPunisher! I had my initial visit on July 12... I'm also at the beginning and I have 3 months of insurance visits to do as well. I have Aetna. At the consult I had my first NUT visit, meet with my surgeon, and had my blood work done. I also went to have my chest X-ray completed. I have a follow up meeting with the NUT and surgeon on August 8th. Then the psych consult and endoscopy visit on August 19th.. I don't have a date but my surgical team is shooting for October.
