    Foodie Life Post-op

Gotcha. I read it as your doc recommended a different surgery.

    Foodie Life Post-op

All that said, you mentioned trusting your surgeon and having initially considered VSG. Doc suggest otherwise? Reasons? That may affect some of the advice received. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Chinese Food

Depends on your plan. But a small amount of Kung Pao chicken or Hunan Chicken are my thing.
  5. Probably not a stricture. If you have pain we were told to move back a stage for a couple of days. If you're off your pain meds you might want to try some liquid Tylenol.

    Alcohol

Throwing up when you get too drunk is a protective measure our body takes to prevent alcohol poisoning. Just keep it in mind that you cannot even make yourself vomit now. I have zero judgment about drinking, but safety requires that you keep yourself from a point of danger even more so now that you are banded. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

You know you are doing something right

If my sisters ins covered it I think she'd be in a program already. If I keep things going I could see her self paying. She is just so impressed with my progress. Seeing success stories, in person or on here, is a large pat of why most of us took the plunge. Your NSV is being a success.
  10. You're doing great. I don't know if adding Water leads to greater loss but I this 2 liters is more in line with what you should be getting. Also. Try on some clothes and don't worry so much about the scale. You are well on your way and doing things the right way.

  12. Picture bread or potato chips in a class of Water. They practically dissolve. meat doesn't breakdown to that degree and that quickly. Also. If you take a bag of potato chips or bread and crush and compact them you can still hold a lot of calories. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  14. I understand why our loved ones worry. They care deeply about us, and for the most part accept us as we are. Yes, some people have complications as a result of surgery. But those of us that do not lose the weight have much greater risks of complications from metabolic disorders, and joint disorders, and pain from being heavy. I'm only 4 months out, but I am so glad that I made this decision. Fortunately, I was one of the many that had zero problems with surgery, recovery, or building up to my new normal diet. My brain has been re-wired as to food by the surgery. Who knows, in 4 years, I may be 600 lbs and wonder what the hell happened, but i don't see it. Here is a medical study I read after surgery. It's not really on risks, but it is very interesting, and zero spin. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3410227/

    LittleBill's Ring of Fire Chili

I use a vegetarian chili recipe that chops up chickpeas in a food processor that gives it a meaty like texture. They make chili paste out of dried peppers and Water instead of chili powder. It's awesome. And around 100-120 cal per half cup. I make a big pot almost weekly since surgery. http://www.seriouseats.com/recipes/2012/01/best-vegetarian-bean-chile-recipe.html Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Recovery questions!

We were restricted to no more than a gallon of milk for 6 weeks. That said I have a 15 month old (at the time) and I picked him up pretty regularly, and carefully, from within a week. I couldn't help myself.

My husband is questioning my decision

I'm only 4 months out so keep that in mind. You can still go out to eat. You may not care about doing it like before. I don't know if that lasts. But you can do it. Just keep your husband and his likes in mind. Assure him that this isn't about changing him
  21. My nutritionists said that there is no evidence that not drinking before meals has any effect on weight loss and we only have to wait after eating. You might want to discuss this with your nutritionist. I would think they would rather you get your fluids in.

    Hi everyone!

Insurance required 3 month diet for me. I was sleeved 4 months after my first doc appt.
  23. Yes, it's possible you will have to deal with complications, but it's very, very unlikely. Good luck!
  24. Yes, it's normal. A couple of weeks after surgery, I had a day or two when my stomach ached really bad. I tried liquid tylenol and it helped a lot.
  25. no mental issues... with food. I don't see how removing stomach helps to lose weight that was not caused by overeating, even if prompted by a medical condition.
