How fast can you return to work ?

I had surgery on a wednesday and was back half days the next thurs and fri before returning full time. I work mainly at a desk, and had some fatigue, but pain was not an issue. Good luck.

BariatricPal Policy Reminders – Everyone Please Read!

it's a petty and cheap shot to denigrate this site for commercial gain. Why would anyone expect free apps and message boards and no way for those pulling it together a way to profit? Also, I would trust a hospital abroad more knowing it's been vetted. So what if there is financial gain. That's what keeps the world spinning. I hate to see so many people upset and the "mass" exodus. But people have not been treated right on this board since I have been here by some. I have no doubt that many people don't feel welcome or safe to ask questions without ridicule. We should all recognize that many people with weight issues that get us to a point of surgery are more fragile than most.

    Emory Bariatrics Midtown(GA)

I had surgery at 730 am and left the next day around 1230.

I would guess your surgeon would want to see the terrain of your inner stomach before lopping it off from the outside.

I was borderline but did not get a sleep study in the end. I think endoscopy is required. They test for a type of bacteria and look for things like ulcers before surgery. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Emory Bariatrics Midtown(GA)

Emory Bariatrics was awesome for me. I had Dr. Jamil Stetler and had little pain and zero complications. I had insurance through Cigna. First appt was the initial meeting with nutritionist and bloodwork and ekg. Beginning of the three month diet. I went for first appt on April 5 and was sleeved on August 4 after a 3 month supervised diet required by Cigna. Let me know if you need any other info. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  10. If she asks how you're losing weight, just tell her through eating less. No explanation needed and it's the truth. As for the why, well you know all of those reasons. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Spouse issues ?

Have you asked him to stop or just let it slide? Tell him he can eat what he wants but that you would ask him to not bring foods home for you without checking first.

    Walk v. Run

I feel kind of dumb even asking this. I've hit a stall, and i know it's my fault. With the New Year here, along with clamping down, I am considering some changes to my activity. Runners -- If i get on C25K training do you see a significant increase in calories burned? I have been reading on it, and to some extent it seems to be more about the efficiency of the workout. So, for gains, you would need the runs to be longer distances than the walks. Does that make sense? Anyone with encouragement?

    Getting Sleeved with a baby...

Mine was 15 mos old. I couldn't resist picking him up but luckily got past the weight restrictions without injury. You'll likely feel better than you expect. A lot better. Of course I didn't have to breastfeed. Good luck with everything. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  16. Imagine where you would be in three years and 150 lbs heavier. My wife has been diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis and I see her in pain a lot. I'm sorry for what you are going through. Some people draw the short straw, and it sucks. You're doing what you can to make it as less painful as possible. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    2months out

Pics don't tell the story. I'm down a lot and wear clothes I have not worn in a very long time but I still see the overweight me in the pictures. Some improvement but don't see it. You've got to be experiencing looser clothing. Keep it up. You'll see it before you know it and when you're least expecting it. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Fit bit? Should I?

I like mine a lot. I have the HR which is cool to see your heart rate level when you are working out. Shows when in cardio, peak, etc. Weekends I'm motivated to get lots of steps. Mostly during week it is helpful in that if my steps are low from desk work I'll do something to get some steps in. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Small leak

Scared going in to surgery I read a lot about this. That's the spot most leaks happen. Even with over stitching, it's bc of the tightness and pressure in that area. And it's not really wait and see. I am sure your doc will monitor it very well, but the alternative is more invasive. I've read most leaks heal themselves.
