I had the sleeve, and I have loved it. My understanding is that if you have gastric reflux or indigestion issues, the sleeve might not be for you. Also, if you have emotional eating issues, the bypass may lead to more success. I did not have any nausea issues. Ever. My eating plan through Emory Hospital in Atlanta was aggressive. We were eating solids (pureed) within a few days, and it never bothered me. I think I was chewing my food within 10 days of surgery, and could eat just about anything by then. I was back to work in less than a week. I was actually out house hunting within a few days, but I had already taken the week. I could have gone back by the Monday after my Wednesday surgery. This site was a huge help, but there are plenty of great articles on the subject. Get in with a good bariatric program, and they will give you all of the information you need, as well. Good luck.

Look smartass, by volume muscle weighs more than fat. Your argument amounts to "two lbs of sawdust weighs more than one lb of lead." That may be true, but that was not the point or the context.
-
A pound of muscle does not weigh more than a pound of fat. That's not what I said in my initial post.
-
Muscle is more dense than fat meaning a cubic centimeter of muscle is heavier than a cubic centimeter of fat. Muscle does weigh more than fat.

I've been the same way. Haven't lost a pound since April. Gained about 6 or 7. I've been getting back to my routine. It took so long to gain those lbs, but I can see in my body how it isn't the same. Muscle weighs more than fat. Some of the gain could be that or offsetting what you could be losing in fat. I have come down 3 lbs this week with my continued exercise and discipline. You've done incredible. 300 lbs. Whether you make it to 199 or not, you've accomplished more than most could hope for from the procedure.

Surgery date scheduled. Feeling nervous & questioning if I should.
sc101071 replied to XmeghannstarX's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
This is natural, and most have going through it. Remember the reasons that you wanted this in the first place. Odds are low that you keep the weight off that you have lost without following through. There are definitely risks, though very small. Almost 9 months out, I wouldn't change a thing that I have done. It's your ultimate decision, but if you have jumped through the hoops, I would encourage you to concentrate on the things you want out of this. Look at the before and after pics on this site. It helps with the fears. Good luck -
Thoughts on Abdominal binder after surgery
sc101071 replied to BrodieGL25's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor said it would be a waste. He said just to hold a pillow to you when getting up. That worked for me. Pain wasn't there that long. -
Anyone having trouble finding..

Best decision I've ever made

Great job! -
He cares about you. He's scared of how it will affect your relationship and the things you have done together for 14 years. It's all understandable. I don't know how great an argument "those years would suck" is, though. If you do it, and you get healthy, and you remain as loyal to him as you appear to be, he will be happy for you in the end. If you get healthy, your last years will not suck like they might w/diabetes or other comorbidities. Most important, it is your body, and you get to want those years, and to have fun during those years. Not one day have I regretted my decision.

Blender necessary?

I really just chewed it very, very well. No problems here. -
I eat them both all of the time. Like a lot.

Does this seem right?

17 lbs in under a month is a lot for anyone. Try on some clothes, you'll see the difference. -
Has anyone kept it a secret?
sc101071 replied to VSG4Mag's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I have told my close family (all supportive, I'm lucky), all of my coworkers (that are all complimentary), and that's about it. I mainly tell people that I am not close to that I did it with low calorie diet and cutting back on beer. That I was doing it bc of my 2 year old son. This is all true. As for taking the easy way out, I don't have a problem with that, though I thought I would at first. I have found it easier, and something that I was never able to do before, losing 95 lbs. I haven't been this size since before high school. It might be an easy way out. But it was also the only way out! -
What foods and ingredients can't you live without?
sc101071 replied to LadySin's topic in Food and Nutrition
I love to cook. Here is a link to the recipe. I got it from foodlab. http://www.seriouseats.com/recipes/2012/01/best-vegetarian-bean-chile-recipe.html -
We were allowed walking from the beginning. I would think that would include a treadmill if you are careful. Anything else, we had to wait 6 weeks.

I eat the same things all of the time. Chicken tenderloins and steamed broccoli. Dannon fit and lite. I make a great vegetarian chili. Sometimes I will eats whatever at a restaurant if we go out but just lost interest in food when I had the surgery. -
Not yet to goal, but I have wanted to post one of these since before surgery.
-
A lot depends on where you are in relation to goal. I slowed down around that time, but I had already lost a lot of the easy weight. I'm still losing now exactly 8 months in, but slower. Keep doing the right things, and you will get where you want to be.

Does VSG really need Bariatric vitamins vs. regular chewable?
sc101071 replied to Seraya's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I use 2 flintstones chewables, and 6 citrical petites every day. That was on the approved list by my doctors at Emory Bariatrics in Atlanta. -
Don't push yourself to overeat. Just make sure you are getting your nutrition. I am 7 mos out and usually eat about 3/4 cups. A cup for life, was like the most I was supposed to be able to eat.
