Wow! I hadn't thought of that. Where in Texas are you? I am in Katy (right outside of Houston)

I loved him. I was just wondering about anyone else that has used him because I don't see his name come up here. I had a great experience with him. I hope that you do too. His bedside maner in wonderful and he is very compassionate about what he does. Good Luck, keep me posted on howthings go.

You loved him enough to let him go. That is the hardest thing of all. I am so sorry for your loss. I have 3 big dogs and a cat. I have had to put dogs down before and it is the saddest thing that I have had to do. My heart goess out to you. When enough time passes, maybe you can go to your local shelter and give some other well deserving dog the wonderful life that you gave Astro.

Good luck with your first fill! It sounds like you're doing great already!

Just wanted to thank all of you who post on this site. I just had my first fill and am in heaven. Finally I realize what the band can do. All of you have kept me "up" by posting and now I hope to do the same for anyone who has not yet had a fill. This thing really works!

Congrats Jack! You were one of the first people to respond to me and I am very greatful to read of your insight. I love the way you write and the words of wisdom. Thanks for being there!

I had my surgery done on 11-15 and my first fill was two days ago. Before my 1st fill I too was feeling like I could eat anything without any ill affects. Since the fill it has been a different story. I can really feel the restriction. I think that your fill will really help your state of mind and your appetite! Good Luck!

I am a diet coke addict. I never thought that I could break the habbit but it was easier that I thought. I was more worried about the caffine withdrawal than anything else. It's funny how those gas pains after surgery help you through any addiction. Anytime I tried anything carbonated, I had terrible gas and shoulder pains. It cured me. The band will do it's best to help you with your addictions. Diet Coke Free since 11-15=05

I just had my first fill yesterday and it really does make a big difference. I was like you, in that I could eat anything and I was wondering what good the band was until I had my fill, now I know. Since my fill, I have only been able to eat a few bites at meal time and have already lost 3 lbs. Good luck on your new band and when you have your first fill, I am sure that you will notice the difference.

I am new to most of this but you can count me in as well! I am looking forward to this! -
I just had my first fill 2 days ago and I can really tell the difference. I got 1.12 cc and it was done with a flouroscopy (?) It was really neat! He let me watch as the barrium went through and they took xrays. I even got to keep the xrays! I was banded in Mexico by Dr. De La Garza. I love him!

I am pretty new to this and you guys are scaring the hell out of me. I had my surgery in Monterrey. What cluster are you talking about? I hope everything goes well for you. I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers.
-
I've been reading about how some people feel tighter when the weather changes, how does that work? Is it just after the fill that you experience this or is it the band itself?
-
I was also banded in Monterrey and was very impressed with the facility and the staff. I was concerned about follow up but I get free follow ups and stay in the hospital hotel for free. The only thing that I have to pay for is my flight. I probably would have done it in the US if insurance would pay but it did not and as of today, I have had no problems. I am going back next week for my first till. They use an xray to do the fills and it is all free.

I lost 18 lbs in the first 2 weeks but as soon as I started to get out of the liquid phase I gained 5 lbs back. I am now in week 6 and will be going back for my first fill next week. I was worried about loosing so much so fast but it evens out as your body adjust to the new diet. Wasn't loosing like that great fun?!

I've been taking Synthroid for years and never felt that it did any good so I decided to take myself off of them w/o dr. permission.....about 2 months after not taking them I completely lost my voice for about 6 weeks. When I finally went to the dr. I thought he was going to kill me. You may not think that thyroid meds are a magic pill (I don't) but not taking them put me at extreme risk and caused all kinds of side effects that I never knew about. Make sure that your dr. is giving you the full thyroid test. There are two level and some docs don't routinely do the more comprehensive test.

I was either terrified or crazy or maybe both. I went to Mexico (never travel at all, much less leave the country) only told my daughter what I was doing and went all by myself! On the way to Monterrey, I kept thinking that I was either really desperate or totally insain. All the usual questions about what if this happens and what if that happens.....I think that is normal. I decided that I was not crazy just committed to changing my life. I was scared but I had made this decision and I was going to go through with it. I have absolutely NO REGRETS! I'm sure that you will be fine. These doctors know what they are doing and if you are comfortable with the surgon that you have all will go well. Good Luck!

Ok, so I have decided to see how far I could go without throwing up and I feel like a bottomless pit. I was banded Nov. 15 and am going back for my 1st fill next week. I lost 15 lbs but have gained 6 of it back. It's x-mas time and I am having a hard time of it. I can eat a lot more that 1/2 cup of chicken. I guess the hardest thing for me to do is not drink anything until an hour after eating. Does anyone else have problems with this? I am getting discouraged.
-
Thanks for the input from everybody. I am going to have to really concentrate on not drinking with my meal. Jack, I think you probably hit the nail on the head and I need to make sure that I get enough water in between meals. As far as being hungry....yeh, sometimes I feel like I could eat my own arm off. What's up with that?

I had my surgery done in Monterrey, Mexico and it was wonderful. I was going to go back to get fills but if there is someone near Houston that can do it I would also love the number.
