  1. I've never had a sweet tooth, but now any sweetener at all tastes way too sweet. I use one crystal light packet for about 4 bottles of water. unfortunately plain water just doesn't go down very well at this stage. Sent from my SM-G930V using BariatricPal mobile app
  2. I'm 7 days post op with a hernia repair and I have more soreness where the hernia was, but it's certainly not worse than the pain the hernia was causing me before surgery! Sent from my SM-G930V using BariatricPal mobile app
  3. My problem getting my pain meds was that the pharmacist saw the notation on my file that said I have anaphylaxis with morphine, and he didn't want to fill the script (for a similar drug) without checking with my surgeon. He did, my surgeon called me to verify that I hadn't had a problem with the meds at the hospital, and then they filled the script. The pharmacist was doing his job, and I'm glad to put up with a little inconvenience to know that they're trying to keep me safe! Sent from my SM-G930V using BariatricPal mobile app

Yep, me too, but I also had Heparin shots in the hospital. every one of those sites is black with bruising. I'm 4 days post op. Sent from my QTAIR7 using BariatricPal mobile app

    I'm completely lost

I agree with PTundra6. The only way to get an accurate answer is to cal your insurance company. If the say yes, they cover WLS, ask them if they specify what kinds of surgery, and where you can have it. Also ask what their pre op requirements are, and ask them to send you a copy of all relevant information in writing. Sent from my SM-G930V using BariatricPal mobile app
  10. "Were my doctors too complacent to tell me the truth as I may have been a long line of regular $$ to them? Mmmm. Maybe I'm overly suspicious. " I think obesity research is even now in its infancy. Many doctors don't know any more about it than those of us who are living it. Sent from my SM-G930V using BariatricPal mobile app
  11. Have you heard the phrase "Minnesota nice"? I'm from western Wisconsin, where we've stolen the idea and made it into an extreme sport! Open forums on the internet are a nightmare. I'll never be able to understand how people can feel free to verbally abuse others for any reason whatsoever. I also don't buy the "tough love"argument. If you can't find a way to tell someone that their behavior is self - destructive without tearing apart their self - esteem, then you should keep your opinion to yourself. They have enough problems without you adding to the mix. That being said, I agree with those that advise you to carefully pick your way through this minefield called the internet. Good luck on your journey! Sent from my SM-G930V using BariatricPal mobile app

  15. I think for most people following surgery, fatigue is the biggest issue when it comes to going back to work. If you are relatively young and healthy, it may be less of a problem than for someone with age/other health issues. No matter what, try to build in little breaks if possible. Even 10 minutes of quiet with your feet up and your eyes closed can have a restorative effect. And it's really important to be able to keep hydrated!

    Approved...Now What

A good read is "Success Habits of Weight Loss Surgery Patients." Work at developing new habits and a new lifestyle. I know I can do it, because I'm in my fifties and I've changed habits before. But I also know I have to be determined, keep my motivation high, and be vigilant about letting old habits and thinking creep in. It's a good sign that you are thinking about it now, and even that you worry a bit. It's the folks who assume surgery is a magic spell that will take away the weight without any effort on their part that are going to have a hard time! Sleeve to RNY.

I think I'd try Fluffychix's suggestion first. If a "hard reset" doesn't work, then you know you need to go to the next step. But above all, be kind to yourself. You didn't plan to have your life blow up on you, and maybe you coped the only way you knew how at the time. But now you're working hard at getting back on track. Bless you. Self control

Good for you! just think of the new habits you're forming every time you have a positive experience that didn't require food. Sent from my SM-G930V using BariatricPal mobile app
  20. It is an adjustment for sure! But do a search on revisions + GERD and you'll see hundreds of stories of people who had the sleeve then had to have a second surgery to solve the reflux problem. Your surgeon is trying to save you from disappointment and pain (literally.) I wish could have the sleeve, but I can't. It took a few weeks to adjust my mindset, but now I'm ready to go again! You will be too. Sent from my SM-G930V using BariatricPal mobile app

    Discouraged

My surgeon told me that there are turtles and hares when it comes to the rate of weight loss after surgery -- and that there's no way of predicting, but both will cross the finish line if they don't get sidetracked and keep to the program. Keep hanging in there! Sent from my SM-G930V using BariatricPal mobile app

    Low defenses?

I've had that exact problem before, but not after surgery. for a few years in my 30s I was very susceptible to step throat. the antibiotics would give me diarrhea and then I'd get the infection again. It took some concerted intervention on my doctors part to find an antibiotic and dosage that worked. and yes, the probiotics can help a lot. It's not caused by the surgery, but surgery and recovering from surgery can lower your immunity and make you more susceptible to infections. Stay away from sick people!
