Hi all - Haven't been on in a good long while! I was banded in January and have hit a SERIOUS plateau (several months now).... wondering if anyone has any good plateau buster tricks to get things moving again? Not that I'm complaining mind you... I'm still "pleasingly plump", but geez, I hit the 160's and am feeling pretty good about that. Still, it's been really, really slow for the past 3 months and I seem to gain and lose the same few lbs again and again. I don't eat that much (probably just about 1100-1200 calories a day (max), but just don't seem to be losing any more for some reason. Maybe back on the initiation diet for a couple of weeks? Ugh.... Thoughts? Anyone else had this happen? Hope everyone is doing well... Kim

Well - I have experienced both. When I PB, it's like a mini throw up (sort of). Sometimes it comes with a funny sounding burp and the food I ate comes right back out. Not really like throwing up though because it's not like the normal stomach acidy kind of throw up. Slimes for me are the clear stuff that just keeps coming out of my mouth until whatever is stuck is unstuck. TMI? I hate both of these. Doc told me my band was too tight if this was happening, so I got a little unfill.

Thanks for the replies guys.... I don't "exercise", but I am extrememly active now and spend lots of time working on my house. We bought a little place on the lake in need of LOTS of work. I have been off work for the past month and have been working on the house. Tearing off sheetrock, painting, putting in flooring, etc. I would say I get at least as much exercise as I did when I was working out for 45 minutes a day. As far as the fill goes... I don't know. I had a fill that was too tight, then a slight unfill. I worry about going for another fill as I'm not at a much lower weight than when I had my last unfill. The fill I have keeps me from eating too much and I even occasionally have slimes and PB's --- so I think it's tight enough. Band is finicky though... some days I can eat and some days I can't. I never know how it will act from day to day. That said, I have noticed lately that I seem to be having fewer and fewer incidents of PBs and I can eat more (like a lean pocket last night for instance - bread and all).... although some days I wouldn't dare try bread. It just changes from day to day.

Mary Ann, The pre-op diet sucks (I'm assuming this is what you're doing). My doc let me have lean meats and vegetables. This seemed to help me get through the protein shakes. Maybe this is an option for you... you could ask. The reason for the pre-op diet is to shrink your liver - which the protein shakes and lean meats help. Some people try mixing in a little fruit to the protein shake for variety. Other than that, take up a new hobby... paint a room. This time will pass before you know it. Hang in there!

Hey Randy - Kid's are being thugs and we think that a smaller school may be in order - at least we can start em over and take away all the thug clothes and make them dress in pink ruffles... LOL. Actually, my parents, Steve's parents and my grandparents are all there as well, so the more eyes the better. Teenagers -- will I live through this? :-) Wonder if anyone would want to come to the lake for a get together?

Ok, so since I gained 1.5 lbs last week I thought I'd post an NSV to make myself feel better! What's this??? OMG - I think it's a collarbone! And here I thought I was born without them!
-
Dang it... forgot to check this thread for the next date! Sorry I missed it guys. BTW Randy & MsJoy - I'm moving out to Cedar Creek Lake so I won't be THAT far from you. Glad to hear you all had a good time! I'll try and make the next one!

Lindsay, Welcome to the club! I grew up in Austin (Balcones Woods in N Austin)... lovely place to live! I miss it lots! Kim

Kathy - That's crazy! You are looking soooooo good! See - I look at this picture and would never have guessed that you were overweight. You've taken on that I've never been fat look - how cool is that? I have noticed the scale not moving much since I started going to the gym. I can't say I've noticed the huge difference I see here with you - but I guess other people are really starting to notice because I'm getting lots of comments. I have attributed my "lack" of weight loss to poor eating - but maybe it's just that change to muscle? (although I'm looking for the signs of muscle as much as I'm searching for collarbones - hard to see yet!) I haven't been eating alot, but my food choices have been crappy due to a too-tight band. Got that fixed, so maybe I'll be on my way now? Good job my dear - you look awesome!

Gayle-LOL!!!, I feel 100% sure that the collarbone implants were part of the surgery by Dr. B. I am absolutely positive they weren't there before! Don't worry - he gave em to you!

3Loves - Best wishes for a safe surgery and a speedy recovery! Good luck! I'm so excited for you!

Hey - glad you're feeling better. Just passing along my 2 cents. For the past 2 months I've been suffering through a very tight fill. Slimes were a daily occurrence. Then the PB's started for 3 days in a row... so I had my band checked and it was fine - but there was hardly anything going through. So I had a .3 unfill and it has made all the difference in the world! I can now eat without sliming and no sign of PB's. I can eat pretty much normal foods - breads still aren't great, but all else so far seems ok. I can't tell you how relieved I am. I thought what I had was good restriction and that was how it was supposed to be --- and I was afraid to get an unfill and lose restriction. They told me that slimes are a sure sign that the band is too tight. Of course if you don't chew well, then that's a different story, but if you're chewing well, then this shouldn't happen regularly. Wish I would have done this sooner... it's been a hard two months and sub-optimal weight loss since I was eating stuff that would go down but that was not necessarily good for me. Just want you to know that it doesn't have to be this hard.

NO DEAL! LOL! Too funny... SEVEN! Holy Crap! Bless your heart!

Jessie - I have to admit, I have to do something weird with my shoulder to get it to show alot... I mean you can kind of see it now when I don't do anything weird, but three weeks ago I could only feel it and I could tell it was going to start showing pretty soon. Now you just see kind of a shadow unless I do the weird shoulder thing - but it's definitely a collarbone! I do spend an extraordinary amount of time doing the weird shoulder thing though! LOL Sus - I'm not sure he's noticed the collarbone, but he's thinking the behind is looking much cuter. Leatha - yes, this is a HUGE step to me. I really didn't think I had collarbones! Randy - aren't you just the sweetest thing??? Too funny... hot number... that's something I hear just all the time :-) NOT.
-
MoOrLess - come on! I'll make you a special deal! I'll throw in some of the furniture, a cool TV and all the patio stuff and plants . Oh, AND don't let me forget - 2 ADORBABLE teenagers! I'm not getting so much traffic running my own open houses! Ughhhh!!! Hard business, this "I wish I was a realtor but I'm not thing"! TX has pretty good real estate prices... lots of bang for your buck. That is unless you're moving to Cedar Creek Lake (where I'm moving) and getting a 1500 sf house for 225K.... 1 living, 1 breakfast room, 3 bdrm, 2 ba... but geez what a nice life living right on the lake is! I'll post pics if I ever get there! Betting pool is on Sus - I've taken 3 weeks. 1 week almost down.... better get moving.
-
ditto... we love P'nut. Would be fairly quiet around here without her.. huh?
-
Hmmmm... a hot man. Could my husband qualify?? Nope, probably not. Just kidding! He's really, really hot in a kind of balding, furry, short, beer belly kind of a way! Like my own cute little troll. LOL.

OOPS..... :faint: H 235 C 176.5 (-65.5 total, +1.5 this week) Sus - sorry this is late. Didn't really even want to post it. Ugh. Haven't moved yet... just put our house on the market by owner. Here's a link to pics of the house that's for sale.... www.mannacomm.com/fsbo/pics.htm We're moving to Cedar Creek Lake (which is about 1.5 hrs from Keller).... WHEN I sell our house here. Open houses are so much fun... NOT!
-
Telly - congrats on the 199! That's a HUGE thing to celebrate! Good job! P'nut - you'll be happy to know I went for that "slight" unfill today. Much needed and I hope it will help. Been yacking all over the place for 3 days now. TMI, I know.

Try Lemon Joy to get hair color out. Makes it fade just a little, but better than nuthin. Heather - hair looks cute! I like the bangs & color. Good change.

That's all... I just do! I'm trying to do Tricia's plateau buster diet (bunches of protein). I tried lunch meat and got a HUGE stuck. Hanging over the kitchen sink thinking oh my gosh - my chest is going to explode and I'm going to throw up! Tried the holding breath thing and it wasn't working. It took me three trips between the pantry and the sink to find the meat tenderizer (Fajita Seasoning is what I use). I put a little Water in a spoon and then loaded the spoon with fajita seasoning and down the hatch. After about 15 seconds things start gurgling in my chest. Started feeling less pressure almost immediately. After about 4 minutes, I feel soooooo much better. Strange - but it works. Now as my friend Laura says... she's not so sure about the meat tenderizer... as our insides are "meat", too. Might be tenderizing stuff we need in there... :-) I don't know, but it was a definite life saver for me.

Need Help Quick~ Need to take solid medication

Jacqie - I bought a pill cutter and cut it into little pieces. I too bought the pill crusher and then mixed a big ole Ciprofloxacin in some cranberry juice... oh my gosh that was the most disgusting thing I've ever done! Gag doesn't describe it adequately. Since then I just make sure that it's the type of pill that can be crushed or cut and I cut it into little pieces that I know will go down and take them with water. They prescribed me a liquid form - but I went to 5 pharmacies and none of them carried it, so I got the pill instead. -
