Hey Paula - whatever it takes to not have to dig up grass I guess. Shovel's and I don't work well together. :-) I have two kiddos - one who dresses like a gothic princess (I think she really wants to be a vampire - ugggghhh) and one who has more holes in her jeans than swiss cheese and refuses to wear anything else. I know my neighbors think my kids look like the Munster's kids... picking up their garbage will just keep them wondering :-). Kare - My daughter has a friend who works at a horse training place - maybe I'll try and get some hay from there. I absolutely love your yard. You should be very proud of yourself. That takes real talent.
-
Hey Kare - It's probably an 18X8 or 9 foot area. I'll start collecting now. Coffee grounds huh? Okey dokey - will do. The site did say to use at least 5 sheets of newspaper stacked - think that's enough?

Pretty yards guys! I googled the lasagna garden. Now I'm going to leave here and start collecting the neighbor's grass bags - they already think I'm a little strange - so I'll just confirm it by driving around in my car picking up their garbage! LOL I've got one pain in the butt area in the back yard behind the driveway that is always a weed pit. This would be perfect and I don't have to go and dig out the grass! Off to make a lasagna garden!

Way to go Dawg! I wanna be like you! I'm so impressed that you're doing this without the band! Good for you!

I am new to this site - seeking information...
Kim_8 replied to RKidder's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Rachel - My best advice is to read on this board. You will find descriptions of "real life" experiences that will help you to understand the pros and cons of banding. It is a life changing experience. I am 100% happy with mine though... I'm not going to say it's not rough sometimes, but in a life where I couldn't lose and keep the weight off, I'm now at my lowest weight in 13 years. I don't know any other way that would have happened without the band. Also, research your doctor well and pick a good one. Attend the seminars that your doctor should host. You will get a lot of info from that as well. Good luck in your search! Kim -
It took an act of congress for my steristrips to fall off. I finally had to take them off on my own because they weren't coming off (even with showers). I didn't scrub them, but had no probs showering at all. Eventually the edges started to peel up and I just cut the loose edges off until it was time to take them off. Hey - congrats on the surgery!

How to Attach a Picture to a Post

Thanks Tricia - I'll try and be patient. I can feel them under there, and even once in a bathroom mirror I saw a shadow of something there, but alas... still no collar bones :-). Kathy - I think you're adorable. I understand the big nose issue (great genes)... but you look really good. Remember Jennifer Gray (i think is the name)... anyway the one from Dirty Dancing? She was soooooo pretty (imperfections and all), then got a nose job and in my opinion it took away all of her imperfect good looks and she looked nothing like the girl she did before. I think you're teeth are kinda cool, too. I thought about getting a nose job before, but once I saw what it did to the little girl from the movie, I thought better to leave well enough alone. -

Good job Kathy! Hey - I like your latest picture - not bad at all for a DL picture. I've got no scanner, but my license picture is a doozer. I keep it behind my credit cards and put my thumb over the picture if I have to show it to anyone! Tricia - I would die for your collarbones. I think I was born without them. -
DFW: May get together -- vote!
Kim_8 replied to JanetC's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Hey Janet - just wanted to say thanks again for organizing the get together today! I had a good time and it was great to meet everyone. I didn't even get to talk to Luv My Harley before she left ---- but wanted to let her know I thought she looked really cute! I voted for the 1st weekend - but really any of them will pretty much work for me as it stands right now. I'll drag Laura with me next time :-). Either location is fine by me... I'm also glad to offer up my house if you'd like... Thanks again! -
Whoa... that was awesome! Jess - you look wonderful! That's it --- 45 more lbs and I'm going for a boob lift! Thanks so much for sharing and showing us what's possible! Again, you look absolutely gorgeous..... congratulations!
-
Christy, Congrats on setting that appointment! Good luck!
-
Holy cow Diane! You look awesome... I just ran across this thread and couldn't believe my eyes. You are absolutely gorgeous!

My Barium swallow pics, does this look like a slip?
Kim_8 replied to pati-o's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am really tight right now and the little stream of barium coming through on your picture is much smaller than mine showed at my last fill. -
Mexican food slides right down for me. I don't eat flour tortillas, but corn don't seem to be too big of a problem usually. I LOVE Mexican food and would be lost without it! Huge staple around our house. Oh - and I agree with Molly on the Margaritas - throwing in a drink every now and then won't kill you (in my opinion) :-).

I hardly EVER get hungry. If I'm hungry, I eat - just can't eat a whole lot without feeling like - oh, oh - better not take another bite or you'll be sorry! Emotional eating doesn't go away really - the band just keeps you from being able to eat ALOT when you're emotional. Kind of cool really.

I was just never crazy about the heart damage side effects caused by phen-fen and feel fortunate to have not had them. I still worry about them coming out with side effects of the stand alone phentermine in a few years. They have been on the market a good many years though... so who knows!?!

I think that editing without a timeframe tied to it is a must for the way we use the board.... glad to hear this is coming back. Deleting posts I feel should be allowed by the owner of the post. That said, I could live without the delete option if I had to. Can't live without the edit though. I don't think the ability to delete entire threads is necessary - moderators can handle if need be. Just my 2 cents.... I'm looking for updated weight loss stats on the opening post of the Gone for Good Club April Edition.

Yep - I took them when they were the phen-fen diet. Then I took just the phentermine alone and couldn't take it because it made me too jittery. If you need to get a bunch of house cleaning done - that's the ticket. It's one heck of a speed pill. Yes, it did keep me from eating... just couldn't sleep either so had to stop taking them.

Hi Debra, Good luck with your financing search! I was a self pay, too and it was a wad of cash to come up with. That said, I would much rather have had this gift than a new car! Best of luck to you.
-
Janet - I'll either bring Laura (if she can make it) or if she can't, I'll bring Steve (my husband) - either way you can count me for two...

black lace wal mart bra - it's lovely. No support at all so my boobs are sitting on top of my lane bryant bikini underwear. Not a pretty picture.

Did any bandsters eat too much Easter candy?
Kim_8 replied to Angels's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
ok - so I bought not one but TWO boxes of Robins Eggs. They are my favorite! Lucky for me I got them home to find out that they were flavored like orange and rasberry or something... they were totally disgusting! Yea! Therefore, I moved on to the big bar of nutless Hershey's dark chocolate (makes it go down so much easier than having to deal with chewing those pesky little nuts :-). -
Mary Ann, It sounds like you've got a great attitude about this! Here's to hoping that you spent enough time taking little bitty bites and chewing well that you made it a new habit. Best of luck without your band! You can do this! Shanna - you're doing great, too!
-
Sus - Sorry I missed weigh in last week and this week. Here's an update. Last = 184 (2 wks ago) Current = 181.5 (-2.5 in 2 weeks) Boy has this slowed down :-( Ah well - at least it's not moving in the other direction.....

I need a new bra... actually I just need new boobs. If I loop my brastraps over my ears then all seems to be good.
