    Abnormal Pap

Leener - I think that sounds like a long time, too. With my MIL, they got her in almost immediately. Maybe they just don't see a need to be concerned yet! Cross fingers! Glad you called the doc! Good luck!

    Fill question

Seminole, There's a tube that runs from the port to the band. When they inject saline into the port it runs through the tube and into the band to fill up the band. I have my fills done under xray so I drink barium and they adjust the fill amount until they see the barium coming through the band in the right amount.

Gone for Good Club - May 2006

Wish I knew what happened here... I'm going to have to start food journaling (although I'm 99% sure I'm not exceeding calories). Since I started these new meds I seem to be having bloating issues.... I'll try to get in more water this week. I've weigh every day and I did drop to the 170's this week, but don't get to post it here because I've gone back up! Maybe next week! Kim 8 - H 235/ S 218/ J 192/ C 180.5 (-54 lbs total, +.5 last week)

Wow Heather! Great job! I'm so jealous! You've lost a whole person in both weight and clothes sizes! You should be very proud of yourself! Congrats pumpkin!

    Port area ache

Me, too. I went to the gym and spent WAY too long on the bike and then did the weights including two machines where you lay on your stomach and also the crunch machine. I was just sitting here touching my stomach when I saw this post... do-do-do-do, do-do-do-do (this is supposed to be the twighlight zone song) :-). It does feel kind of bruised and aches a little. I'm 4 mos post op.

    Have I hit a plateau??

Leigh Ann, I'm with ya babe... I've been hovering and even putting on an LB or two this week. Dunno what's up with that. However, I've been charting my weight daily since surgery and can see that this is a trend with me. In the next week or so - if my trends stay true, I'll see another drop and it will be a couple of LBS below my low. Hang in there - scales are dangerous things!!!! I'm addicted though! If you're eating right, then it WILL come off. By the way, I easily gain that much with water weight!

Ain't that the truth? Well said!

    Gotta ask this sex question....

Sex? Please explain.... I think I've heard the word somewhere but can no longer remember what it means....

    I hate it when..

I hate it when.... --My husband pees on the toilet seat and then doesn't even flush the toilet. (actually it's better if he doesn't flush because the chances are better I won't sit on the seat) --You're in a meeting, you have gas, you think you can squeeze out a silent little toot, but Nooooooooo. So then you have to scoot around in your chair and try and make it make a fart sound so people will think it was just your chair. As if.... --It's cold, your bra doesn't have enough support, you're wearing a thin shirt and then everybody knows how much you need a boob lift. --You find a web site where your kid has been posting a blog and find out that they're "making out - huge" with their boyfriend. TMI. --You have more hair on your chin than your husband - and then you find one on your chest. What the heck???? Please don't let it be attached! --You take out a roll of toilet paper in the morning. You come home from work and have to run to the bathroom. You sit, you pee and you go for the toilet paper and the TP gremlins have struck again. You wait and air dry before you stand on the toilet with your pants around your feet trying to find another roll of toilet paper. --Your kids think Marilyn Manson is hot... what is this world coming to? Ughhh. --The music I listened to in high school is now being played on the oldies station. --I awake from a dreamy sleep to realize the Chris Daughtry really isn't my husband and the short furry thing in bed next to me is :-). Jeez - if I didn't have to do laundry I could go on forever!

    sleeping on my stomach??

I was a stomach sleeper my whole life and spent about 4 weeks post op on my back. I now sleep kind of on my side and kind of on my stomach with a pillow propper under me to keep pressure off the port. It really doesn't "hurt"... it's just like left something hard in the bed (like a hokey puck maybe) and tried to lay down on it. Doesn't hurt anymore - just uncomfortable.

    Abnormal Pap

Leener - Sorry to hear about this! My MIL had an abnormal reading about 2 years ago. She had a biopsy done and it was determined she had uterine cancer. She did undergo a hysterectomy and has been fine every since (no chemo needed). I hope you don't have to go through this, but know that it's good that you're getting regular check ups and hopefully if it is anything abnormal, they'll be able to hop right on it since they caught it early. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Kim

    Self-pay Anyone???

Ditto - exact same thing with me. I thought the Surgery Center of Richardson was pretty nice. Really good people there, too. In addition, I really like the fill center where all they do are fills. They use flouroscopy which I think makes the chances of error on fills as minimized as possible. __________________
  14. Janet - That's the day of our neighborhood garage sale (which by the way I spent all day Sunday cleaning out my garage for!) Sorry I won't be able to make it - I'd go with you if I could! Unfortunately for me, if I don't do this garage sale I may NEVER be able to get a car in my garage :-). Hope you guys have fun!

May I have your attention, please?

Tricia - Great job! You made it! Yee-haw! Congrutulations...

    Banded in January 2006?

JJB - sorry - meant to respond to the hair loss deal. I haven't had the problem this time, but I was in surgery before and lost almost 1/2 my hair... I think it was a reaction to the anesthesia. I used to stick globs of it to the shower wall just to keep track of how much I was losing. I had a different section of the shower wall for each day of the week. My husband found that disgusting. I was so stressed! After about 8 mos or a year, it stopped and now my hair is pretty much back to normal.

    Banded in January 2006?

Hey Morsaille - good idea! I saw February, March, etc., but no January! I was banded January 12 (I think)... right around there anyway. My weight loss has slowed down alot... Feel like I'm working on the same few lbs for forever. I did just get on the scale this morning and dropped into the 170's... like 179.9999999 :-). Things are going fine - I think I've gotten used to the bandster rules for the most part and it's not so hard anymore. I've had 2 fills. First was 1cc which did very little of anything. The second was 2cc's (total) which gave me a TON of restriction. Just in the past week or so, I've noticed that the restriction isn't as much as it was before (which is good I think). Thanks for starting the thread!

    Weight gain inevitable.....?

I'm a binger and an unconscious eater. I walk through the kitchen and pick at something (bag of chips for instance) and don't even realize I've eaten it. I like to think that I'm spending enough time doing other things when I get the urge to binge.... because I physically can't now and am forced to do this. I still find myself stopping through the kitchen frequently - ugh. I am exercising - which I didn't do before, and I LOVE the clothes I'm SO CLOSE to being able to wear now. Hopefully when I've lost enough weight to know what it's like to be THIN, I'll think it's not worth it to graze and binge and be more conscious of it. I haven't been in "normal" size clothes since I had my 2nd kid - 14 years ago. I can't even remember what it felt like and am looking forward to experiencing it again. In reality, I have a sinking feeling that I would be up a creek without a paddle. Hope not though!

    hiccups?

My mom takes very shallow breaths and tries to relax her lungs. This cures her every time. This doesn't work for me. However, if I can manage to get down exactly 10 sips of water without stopping for breath then it ALWAYS gets rid of them for me. I find that now that I'm banded, getting 10 sips in a row is sometimes difficult. Just another form of holding your breath I guess, but it does work for me. :-) Good luck... I hate the hiccups!

On and off the scale ONLY 3 times???? :-) I spent the whole morning getting on and off the scale... I also made everyone in my family come stand by the scale while I got on. Way to go!!!! YOU DID IT~!!!!

    Suggestions

I lost a lot of weight during pre-op doing the "modified atkins". No carbs, No Sugar, a protein shake for breakfast and/or lunch and lean meats with veggies up to 2X a day. I think I lost 11 or 12 lbs in 2 weeks doing this.

Why is LBT knocking me off the interne?

This happens to me when I press the back button two times in a row and hit the back button the second time before the first page is loaded. This only happens to me on LBT. So when I'm using the back button to post and then move back a couple of pages, I just make sure that I wait for the page to load before I hit back again. I use Netscape and haven't tried it with IE to see if the same thing happens. Maybe this is what's happening to you?
