What happened, BBK? Good attitude though...make it a happy day! (If happy is pushing it, go for tolerable!)

    almost there

Possum60 - do lots of research. Prepare yourself, ask questions, and then ask some more! Attitude is large part of the process. Good luck on your surgery, and keep checking in. This is the place to be for support - and sometimes a kick in the rear when we need it!

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

congratulations! Now if I could just lose 5 pounds by Hallow'en, I'd party too! It doesn't seem like a lot, does it, but as a slow (really s l o w ) loser who is stuck in a plateau, this is a real stretch goal for me...:thumbup:

    Let's talk Plateaus

I HAD to resurrect this thread...the ratsnfratsnfrickinfrackin plateau experience is now mine!!! It's isn't enough that I am a slow loser, now I have to plateau - thanks a lot, body!!! So, quoting from the original post,

    Givin' up the ice cream

WHEW!! I made it through Sunday night without nuts...although I was a tad cranky aobut it!! I did however manage to stitch one XMas card though; so I suppose I am better for it...little consolation when what I really want is to eat some whole dry roasted lightly spiced almonds..... ACK!!!

    Husband overweight and jealous

My DH is somewhat overweight, but has been benefitting from my banding. Although I have never commented on his weight (or he, mine) he has commented that maybe he too could stand to lose a few pounds. So, although he has little interest in increasing his physical activity, he has started to eat smaller portions, and his nighttime snacking is certainly reduced. Perhaps over time he will also want to do more things, but I don't advise/suggest he do anything (in relation to food or exercise). He is an adult. If he wants to join me in a morning swim at the Y, or a brisk walk at night, or anything else, he can, but I only ask once and I never comment one way or another. It is somewhat disturbing to read the number of threads about troubled relationships, jealousy etc. as bandsters take charge of their health and change lifestyles. So far, DH and I have not encountered these issues...I hope this is not our experience!

    Sexual Peak

I'm glad that wasn't my experience!!! Total hysterectomy at an early age = menopause early. I certainly have NOT lost my desire, nor experienced any negative impact on orgasms. Indeed, for DH and I, our sex life just keeps getting better...without any worries of pregnancy, so we are much more spontaneous and fun.

Viagra in his suitcase before trip

The fact that he doesn't think that counselling is needed is troubling. Even if his explanation was legit (and as previously posted, I don't believe it for a second), the fact that you are troubled should be a flag to him that perhaps there is a trust issue. The issue of trust is paramount in a successful relationship; if either party feels that there is a problem in this, then counselling is required. To not recognize the magnitude of this, is another concern.

Oh NO!!!!! I didn't even have the strength to think about giving up my vice...how can I be Chair??? Oh well, I shall pick up the gavel...and probably bonk myself on the head! We shall overcome these food addictions, we shall, we shall! Step away from the spoon, Ezma, step away from the freezer. And start again.
  14. What a fabulous post! It is nice to read the successes of bandsters who are past the 'honeymoon' stage, and who remain successful years out. I applaud your success, and wish it for myself. Your wedding photo is lovely; you were indeed a beautiful bride! My sincere best wishes for a long and happy marriage.

    Embarrassed by Weight Loss???

My favourite/frequently used response to people brazen enough to ask: Why would you ask such a personal question? Said with a nice smile and in a nice tone...they never ask again!

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Congratulations on hitting the 150's! I have learned (the hard way) to stop at that full feeling; I put my plate aside, and concentrate on the conversations around me. I have noticed later that I was not as full, and could probably have eaten more, but it's just as well I didn't. I am a 'nibbler' and those extra bites are just not worth it to me.

I didn't realize that I was THAT old! In the showers at the Y this morning, a mother daughter team were conversing; the daughter (a young woman) said to her mom: I'm going to do a CD for you Mom, of all the old music you like. You know, The Spice Girls and so on. ARGHHH!!! I know am in my 50's, but still, this made me feel O L D!!

    Arms?

Sadly, although the weight is coming off (slowly) and the exercise is helping the rest of my body, my arms are still endowed with batwings. However, as the journey isn't over yet, perhaps this too will change.

    Calorie intake range question???

Although I don't studiously measure calories, periodically I check my intake and I stay between 1300-1600 calories per day.

    Givin' up the ice cream

Is 'It's Saturday night' sufficient justification? I had my serving (1/3 cup) of almonds, and then put the nuts away. Difficult to do, but I did it. OK - it's Sunday morning - time to start in on today's activities.

It's Sunday morning....and I have my first cup of coffee in hand. After a productive day yesterday, I want to be doing nothing, but alas, the laundry awaits. Like wire clothes hangers, laundry multiplies in closets if left unattended.
  25. I'm with you! When I first responded to the poll I had only been banded a few weeks, so I honestly responded "I don't know'. But now almost 7 months into the process...I love my band!
